Fischer's everything store (Verdina).

Martin Fischer spends most of his days working hard in the general store within the freedom loving city of Verdina where there is both a great sense of community, as well as the underlying security of vigilante justice. This days is no different and it starts off rather peaceful, quiet - a very lovely contrast to his younger days and while it has been a long time, he still blesses his deity for the change.

Humming to himself he puts on a record to fill the store with some nice background music played at a pleasant level.

He does the daily morning routine of tidying up, counting new inventory and updating the list of his stuff and many other minor chores.

Like so many others days of the week, Martin is getting out of bed, freshens himself as much as possible before breakfast. Afterwards it is onto cleaning the store and begin to get ready to open up for the day. There has been a few less customers lately, but nothing too bad for business. Still, it does get more interesting if there is something for him to do. Perhaps it is soon time for a bit of advertising? He could always use another hand to help out.

Geralf opens the door to the general store as he looks around the store as he shuffles through the door and gentle closing the door behind him. He calls out softly, “Hello Mr. Fischer” as he looks around the front of the store before walking up to the counter.

The store is still a bit messy, dusty and in need of a hand, but overall it is presented nicely still. There are all sorts of items, both big and small. A small bell chimes as the door is opened, alerting Martin towards the door. He brings his eyes from a motorized tie rack and towards Geralf, the massive bulk of a man. Luckily, he has seen übermenschen before, even the ones that are not following their indoctrinating brainwashing anymore. This does make his reaction normal and easy. He puts down his tool and what he is working.

"Oh, greetings! Welcome to my humble store.  I hope the day finds you well thus far!", he says, highly jovial and indeed way more outgoing than the married ocuple of Britta and Axel.

GM: @DrMender if you wish, you may roll: Perception (seeing) of TN (target number) 10.

Geralf blinks in surprise and slightly startled by the jovial greeting from the shop owner as he glanced around the cluttered and dusty shop at the different items. After a moment of silence, he nods his head in greetings, “Good morning sir. I am doing much better thanks to the doctor and his wife” as he scratches the back of his head nervously before continuing, “They have been gracious enough to give me a tour of your town when I spotted your shop” as he turns his attention back to the man.

perception roll: 3d6 + 2 = 2 + 3 + 3 + 2= 10

@JennyDKi believe that roll is correct

Martin already seems to be in high spirits and all, especially from the nice greeting and potential first customer already."Ohhh, I think I know who you mean. While I don't know the wife all that well, I have been at Axel's @Neptune clinic a few times. Very polite, attentive and nice guy. Are you new around here mister?", he asks. Fischer pour himself a cup of coffee which he starts to sip from. Thankfully, he is starting to properly regain his usual energy and gusto."What brings you here though? Are you looking for anything in particular? I may not have everything, but if not, I can surely try and find it for you!", he adds and even offers a cup to Geralf, trying to gesture that he can have some coffee as well.

GM: As Geralf looks around, he spots several crosses on the walls, along with one hanging from a necklace around the neck of Martin. They do not appear to be something that is beind sold.

Geralf smiles and replies, “Yes I am new to town and the Doc was kind enough to fix me up when I arrived yesterday” as he looks at the crosses hanging up not recognizing them. He turns back to martin as he replies, “I was actually hoping you might have some work or in need of help of an item that needs being found?” as he gains a hopeful look in his eyes. He also asks, “I was also wondering if you might be able to tell me about that cross around your neck as it looks familiar to me?”

Martin some of his coffee before turning his back fully towards Geralf."Help? Oh right....the sign! Sure, I could use someone to help around the shop in various. I can only be one place at once after all, so sometimes I may hear of good places to scavenge, I might need someone to stand at the counter, someone to help clean...you know, a little bit of everything, actually", he explains, trying to make it sound interesting since the übermensch is the only one who has asked about it so far. Being asked about his cross, causes him to tilt his head downwards whilst grabbing it."Well...this is to show my devotion towards Jesus and God. Both of them have helped me through some...let's say...some bad times", Martin tells Geralf, not sure how much details he wishes to go into with a stranger. Normally, he is very outspoken, but this is one of his weak points.

Geralf listens to his explanation about the work and the necklace that Martin is wearing. He nods at the work as he explains, “Sounds simple enough defiantly different form of work and I am looking for work in town rather than trying back out there in the wasteland” as he rubs the back of his neck nervously. He nervously asks, “Would you be willing to give me a chance with the job you have posted?” He gives a soft smile as he replies, “No further explanation needed on the necklace it just looked familiar like I have seen one before..... just don’t know where or who had it” as his expression changes to a somber one.

"What sort of work do you have experience? And excuse me for my rudeness...what may I call you? What can you tell me about yourself? I think you and I both know that in this sort of world, it's best to be able to trust each other. In fact, that is probably more worth than any sort of prior experince....and if you want some coffee, go ahead", Martin goes on, before taking another quick sip from his own mug, feeling his brain and body slowly wake up more properly. He gives his crucifix another short look before choosing to comment on that last part."It's not often you find believers after all...due to the holy texts not something you find often...and as far as I know, there are no preachers like in the pre-war time", he says with a bit of a somber tone to it.

Geralf stammers out embarrassed, “My apologizes, my name is Geralf and it was my fault for not introducing myself” as he listens to the rest of the questions along with the explanation about the cross. He ponders how to answer the question about work experience as he replies, “I’ll try to answer as best I can but my memory is a bit fuzzy after a recent concussion and is slowly coming back. I am ex-military and was trained for escort, body guard and retrieval missions mostly sir. Although I can easily move around heavy objects or perform mundane physical labor.” He ponders as he tries to think of what to say about himself, “From my past all I can tell you is I joined to protect my family.... even though I don’t know who they are anymore” as he gains a sullen expression on his face. He continues, “The only thing I do recognize from my fuzzy memory is that cross you wear and display” as he shrugs before saying, “during my travels and my occasional run in with friendly animals, I find myself enjoying there company even for someone of my size” as polite declines the coffee, “No thank you sir. The Doc and his wife, were kind enough to serve me breakfast this morning, which I do owe them for their help yesterday and intend to repay back my debt to them” as he ponders lost in thought at how to pay them back since a fee was never discussed. @JennyDK

GM: You don't need to tag me. I get notifications plus I am the only other person posting here. Just so you are aware 🙂

Martin honestly didn't expect anything like that, but if the years has taught him anything, it is to expect strange and new stories from others, especially those that stick out, like mutants and übermenschen. He doesn't get the feeling that Geralf is lying to him, which is mostly the point. He can always try to make heads and tails about all of this later on."Allright...Geralf. How about this: We have ourselves a trial period for a few weeks. You will still get paid, but it is mostly meant to determine if you are fit for the job. Thankfully, it should be fairly easy. Are you proficent with any weapons? I hate to ask, but the sad truth is that in this sort of reality, you need to be able to defend yourself, after all", he goes on.

OOC: I keep forgetting you get alerts on them 😕

Geralf nods his head with a big smile on his face as he bristles with an energetic feeling of wanting to give the man a big bear hug. He replies in a relieved and happy tone, “I greatly appreciate the chance sir and do everything I can to not betray your trust in this chance” as he listens to the comment about being able to wield a weapon, which nods his head enthusiastically, “I was given military training for my immense strength and the usage of a heavy blade” as he listens for any other questions.

OOC: Don't worry too much about it. After all, no harm done at all ^^ and club owners should get notifications about all posts made in their clubs after all.

Martin nods lightly and gives Geralf a small, but still reassuring smile back."Excellent. If we are to be caught in the path of some wrongdoers, we ought to be fine then. Now, I don't have anything too immediate planned, but tomorrow I am going to a deal with some new faces and some back-up would be great. Of course, it will be done in public, but you can never be too careful with new people you have not dealt with before", the store owner explains, basically letting Geralf know that this will be the first task.

Geralf nods his head in understanding as he replies, “As long as it isn't in cramped quarters or a place that prevents me from using the blade, I should be fine and will we be meeting here or a different location?” As he understands and respects the need for caution when performing a new meeting with a client.

Martin nods softly and seems more relaxed, knowing that he has someone to help him out if this turns bad."Normally, I try to stick to those I know better and such, but being a storeowner doesn't always have that luxury. Of course, at times it's less those you deal with and more about random wrongdoers. It is to be held in the outskirts of town, but nothing too far away from any potential help. Still, things can go south pretty fast...sadly, I am speaking from experience", he tells Geralf and drinks the last of his coffee.

Geralf nods his head and gains a somber expression as a strange scenario flashes at the mention of a situation going south, “Yeah out in the wasteland things can go south pretty quickly....” as he shakes his head to focus back on the present to block out the disturbing memory that was brought forth from his first rescue mission with his mentor.

A brief lightbulb goes off in his head as he mentions the outskirts of town and he states, “Britta, the Doc’s wife mentioned a scavenging mission. If we go past the area,” and she is alright with checking it out, I will check to make sure nothing has been setup at least for today or if anything might be a concern for tomorrow for you”

He once more adopts a solemn expression as he says, “my condolences for your loss” as he glances around the store at the different items.

"Don't worry. I have put such things behind me the best I can and have used it to grow instead. Mistakes are only bad if you don't learn from them, right? Anyway...if it fits with the area we will be at, feel free to scout out the place. Good thinking, if it is indeed the same place. Here...let me show you...", Martin goes on and brings out a town map and points out the spot he is to meet the two merchants tomorrow afternoon. It seems to be fairly close to the north side of town, which is a decent way away from the current location they are at, which he also points out.

Geralf offers one of his big dumb smiles as a he replies, “That is true it is always a good thing to learn from them” as he mumbles at the end, “If one can remember them that is” as he follows his line of sight to the map he pulls out. He nods his head at the location and replies, “If we go in that location and are in the area I will scout it out, but I won’t ask her to go out of her way and if need go out there by myself if I have too” as he clenches his fist at a strange sense protecting the town and not being a burden to others flashes through his mind.

Martin arranges time and place fully with Gerald, making sure that they are both fully up to date and agreeing on how to do this meeting. Soon there is nothing else they need to go over as it is planned out nice and thoroughly."Allright, looks like we have things set up properly Geralf. If you and this Britta has any updates before it goes down, feel free to drop by and we can discuss it", the shopkeeper says and packs the map and writing down the details of their plan.

Geralf nods his head at the mention of the agreed upon details and the meeting as he watches Martin pack up his map along with the written details of the plan. He smiles as he replies, “If I find anything of important note, I will let you know and I will be seeing you tomorrow morning here then. I’ll be heading out now and it was a pleasure meeting you” as he holds out his hand for a shake as he continues, “once again thank you for giving me a chance with the job as well.”

Martin shakes the hand of Geralf politely and gives a respectful nod towards the übermensch before him. He is surely glad that he is not on the bad side of a large guy like him."Awesome. No problem at all. I like to give most people a chance until they prove they are not worthy of it. I wish you a good a day, Geralf", he comments back and once Geralf leaves fully, he gets back to setting up for the day, hoping for some customers soon enough.

Geralf nods his head at the explanation as he replies, “I can understand that though not everyone is like you in that regard” as he lets go of his hand. He continues, “but none the less thank you and I will see you tomorrow” as he walks out the door back into the street.
