Story Number One

Lost.

Lost. That's how she felt. Melissa looked around at the trees that surrounded her. They all looked the same. She sat down at the bottom of the biggest one, tears falling from her hazel eyes. Her head fell into her hands, her dark hair falling over her face. She was wearing a pair of Dark Blue jeans, a blue T-shirt and a button down the front blue plaid shirt tied in front, and a pair of socks and hiking boots on her feet. On the skin that showed, she had bruises, scrapes and cuts, all from today, all from wandering lost through the woods.

The police were calling in people from the town close to the camping grounds. There was a missing camper and they needed to find her before dark. Once the darkness fell, all bets were off and she would probably freeze from the cold that was going to hit once the sun fell.

"Please listen people. We have 4 hours left to find her before the sun sets. Her name is Melissa and she is 18 years old. She has dark hair and hazel eyes. An hour ago, her friends noticed that she was missing from the group and they think that she might have gotten separated from them while they were hiking. We need to find her quickly."

A large search party was quickly made and split up into smaller groups. Each group was given a blanket, bottle water, a flashlight and a walkie talkie.

Melissa shivered as the sun began to set. It was growing very cold and she had nothing to keep her warm. She pulled her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around her legs.

Hours passed as she sat there, freezing. Soon, Melissa thought she heard someone call out to her. Day light was almost gone so she could not see who it was, but it did not matter.

Melissa stiffly got up from where she sat and walked toward the voice. She was so intent on the sound of the voice that she didn't see the black nothing in front of her. The next thing she knew, the ground fell out from beneath her and she went, screaming and tumbling down the cliff.

When she landed on the small ledge, she hit it hard, her head hitting a boulder before her body came to rest. She groaned painfully as everything went black.
