What makes a "good" club? And ideas on how to make a loli and shota focused club.

Recommended Posts

When I first came to ED I was surprised how free one's ways of expressing their preferences were. See, my old site didn't allow loli roleplays of any kind. Luckily thanks to Tema, I learned how to write out my ideas with partners without getting banned so far, and I wanna try gathering all my fellow loli and shota lovers in one place to achieve mainly 2 things.
1: Make sure new users aren't banned for skipping the critical parts of the ToS regarding underage characters.
2: Lewd

My priorities might not be in that order I admit, but regardless, I wanna make a loli club once I can afford gold status (at 5000 EC at the moment by the way). But I don't want this club to just be there, but actually do stuff too. My current idea is basically copying things that have worked out so far for other clubs, but what specifically works? What is it that makes a club a "good" club? I wanna prepare way ahead if possible and would love it if you could share your opinion (possibly some credits too) on what you would expect from a club to click on it a few times per week. I will try to fulfill as many wishes as possible so long as they fit together and don't break the ToS.

So far my ideas thanks to some feedback here and there are:

1: One pinned topic showing Tema's flowchart along with a detailed explanation so that new members don't do something dumb.

2: One grand setting for the club itself. Something like a resort, island, inter-dimensional cafe, or something similar for people to jump in and have fun at (not the best choice of words I admit).

3: A roleplay bulletin board for people to ask for loli and shota roleplays specifically. I don't dislike the usual Private Roleplays Bulletin board, but having this at one spot that pretty much advertises loli and shota seems like a good idea in my head.

So... Any opinions on the matter?

Update: A very handsome beast supported the cause by donating 10k. So just 5k left to go. ...I'll go lie down for a bit though to process the shock.

Update II: Now I got another 1k from a literal lion king. Honest thanks to you and may your whiskers always stay curly. 4k left to go.

  • Mini Magi changed the title to What makes a "good" club?

I have made a fair share of clubs in my time here on the site and I hope that my experiences and advice can help in some sort of way.

Whenever I make a new one, I try to get an idea about what my members will be doing? For instance,1) is it an open world club where characters can roam free, 2) is it separate and isolated topics that contain one RP in them, 3) any other sort of setup?

Regarding image references of characters, I suggest making the rules crystal clear that they cannot be lewd of nature regarding minors. I have used images before, but made sure to keep it within these limits. It should be fairly easy to follow and uphold. There are plenty of decent ones to use that keeps out of the sexualized area. Using the flow chart you mention can be useful, so I would recommend doing that as well.

Your number 2 and 3 may clash with each other a bit, as they seem to cater to different set-ups. One is open world and the other is self contained roleplays. Of course, they can overlap, kind of like they do in one of my own clubs.

As for what makes your club good, which seems to be the primary question here:

I think giving people fairly big freedom to make and do what they want is a big factor in this. I honestly do not know what kind of scale or method you may use to measure quality, but I can say that my monster academy club is pretty active. Not at much as it used to be, but I am doing a lot of scenes in it myself and perhaps that is one way to measure success.

I will be happy to help you out with your project and even moderate if necessary, as I have a pretty good chunk of experience with building and running clubs.

Like you, I am also a fan of ageplay and a proper club for this would be great.

I hope this helped somewhat

Every bit of input helps. Thanks a lot Jenny!

Still deciding between which setting to use. What might be best here is an inter-dimensional thingy. I can't say I have seen Androids and elves interact with each other often, and that needs to be fixed for no reason in particular.

Kinda like hotel rooms. Got it! Takes notes furiously.

Absolutely agreed here. Few things suck more than finding ED, getting ready to write, and yet be smitten by the mighty deactivation hammer. You have my word that this will be a pinned topic. Might even ask a staff member for a second opinion just to make sure, but that is for later.

I think this is the only one I disagree with, or might have worded it wrong. The idea with 2 and 3 are not supposed to mix. Think of them as different categories. 2 as example would be a town and have its own "card", while 3 would be on the next "card". ...I realize it is difficult tp put in words, but basically you have my word that these two will not interfere with each other, unless someone asks in 3 about a roleplay based on 2, but that is up to the users. Freedom and all, right?

That would be great~ Mind if I wait with the offer for now though? I wanna set up everything first, see what happens, and then decide if things feel right or might need a second, maybe even third head. Chances are that I will come to you regarding this one since this isn't about me, but offering a place for those with particular interests.

One thing I think I've come to understand when it comes to designing a roleplay club is the concept of "Less is more." I think people in general prefer clubs that are easier to jump into and don't require sifting through a whole bunch of rules. In general, sticking to familiar systems seems to work the best. Make sure to format whatever unique rules your club has neatly rather than just slapping your readers in the face with a brick wall of text.

There's no need to go all out and make your club super unique and different. That risks alienating a lot of people which I think was a critical mistake I made when designing Black City.

Also, I think it's a good idea to have an idea of how detailed you want the roleplays in your club to be and express that somewhere in your rules. You're generally going to want everyone to be playing with roughly the same post length or players might get bored of each other. This is especially important if you're going to have some sort of main thread RP. If I can think of anything else, I'll be sure to share my ideas!

I figure that by now I should show you some of the stuff I have worked on. Wouldn't want anyone to think I'm not giving this maximum effort now that I got support, so if you feel like sharing your opinion and don't mind potential spoilers, here we go. Keep in mind that while I am quite set on what is below, smaller details could change depending on your input.

Mandatory read to avoid getting banned from ED.

Hello there. My name is Lusterless Nova, and I am the owner of this club. When I was new here, it was the idea of writing loli ideas that got me here, and since I wanted to avoid getting banned on day 1, I asked around how to avoid that. I don't want YOU to get banned either and am well aware that you just want to jump into things. So I'll give you the choice. Either go through the full read, or the tl;dr at the bottom of the quotes.

You of course read the ToS like a proper adult, but let me remind you of the most important points when it comes to lolies and shotas.
ToS Section 8: Zero Tolerance

Quote

Posting Content That Includes Naked or Sexualised Actual Minors

Content that actually contains (or appears to contain) child pornography, or children that are nude or in sexual situations, will be removed and the user’s account terminated without prior warning (aside from this section of the Terms of Service), indefinitely. Our staff will enthusiastically give assistance to the authorities should they get involved.

Posts that depict drawn, 'cartoon', or 'virtual' (fictional) minors in sexual situations or nude will be removed, and the account holder risks a severe infraction for posting it. This includes sexual images of Lolicon and Shotacon, which is classed as Child Pornography in most countries.

We also believe that there is no reason to post images of (real) children at all, and this may result in a warning at the discretion of the Senior Staff, but not necessarily a permanent ban.

tl;dr: Do NOT under any circumstance, post actual child porn. It doesn't matter what the subject is. You will be banned ASAP.

Now you might be wondering "How do I use my shota as faceclaim then?". This is where ED draws a line between real and fictional characters. Let's look at the ToS again shall we?
ToS Section 18: EcchiDreams Gallery and Images Uploaded or Posted to EcchiDreams

Gallery and Media Uploaded or Posted to EcchiDreams

EcchiDreams provides for the internal image hosting and publishing of user submitted content via the Image Gallery for contributing members. Access to the Gallery is not a right, it is a privilege for the enjoyment of contributing members. We are a Roleplaying and Hentai community, not an image hosting site. We do not allow hotlinking from our site at this time. These rules, to reiterate, also apply to Gallery Modules in the Clubs and across EcchiDreams as a whole, as stated in Section 1. This also applies to statues, avatars, profile covers, About Me pages, profile backgrounds and so on, hosted here on EcchiDreams or linked externally from another site be that images, videos or any other form of media.

Regarding your content submissions, you agree that you will NOT submit any content or post anywhere on the site that:
Depicts (or appears to depict) a cartoon/drawn/sketch/pseudo-photograph of a minor (under 18) in sexual situations or nude, as this counts as Child Pornography (by Law).
Depicts (or appears to depict) a real life minor, and certainly a real life child in any way, shape, or form (pornographic or not). A roleplay character is not a valid exception.
Depicts (or appears to depict) a person who is deceased (dead), and in a sexual situation or nude, cartoon, real, or otherwise.
Depicts (or appears to depict) excessively violent acts, sexual or otherwise against real life people or animals. Cartoon violence is accepted as long as it doesn't violate any of the other points, such as excessive gore.
Depicts (or appears to depict) a person having sex with an animal (bestiality), cartoon, real, or otherwise.
-This is not including furrys, anthromorphs (anthro), or monsters, unless the furry/anthro/monster is depicted or appearing to be depicted having sex with an animal.
Depicts (or appears to depict) real people in a sexual situation or nude, regardless of whether the picture is of yourself.

Unless it's yours, of course. If it is yours. please state in the description of the picture that you, the copyright holder, authorise EcchiDreams to host this image as yours, and make use of the copyright field.
Are illegal or in violation of any United Kingdom, United States, or other local laws.

An easier explanation regarding the whole loli and shota topic is brought to you by this neat flowchart I got from the legendary Tema ((I will add an @ mention later)), who I am totally not trying to please by showing him their words were not wasted on me.

Under 18 Images Flowchat.jpg

tl;dr: ED is absolutely fine with you writing lewd things about all the kinds of short characters you might have, whenever legal or illegal so long as they don't break the above mentioned ToS. But when it comes to faceclaims, use the chart above. In case of doubt, just use another one. Anything NSFW or even questionable with a loli or shota will get you banned, and (probably) nobody wants that.

So... There you have it. Keep your little ones SFW when it comes to their appearance, keep actual children pictures FAR away from here, don't stick it into animals, and also not into dead. If any of these confuse you, go back up and read the quotes, and if not, you're good to go to share your characters and ideas with the entirety of Ecchi Dreams.

How exactly did you get here? Was it just because you opened a strange door? Did you just die? Were you trying to get away from something and in the next moment were here? Or did you actually chase an urban myth about this place? But whatever brought you here, you are welcome in Little Garden.

anna-karen-balamb-garden-university-from

Such reads the large sign over the entrance gates. When your character walks up to the entrance, wakes up in the infirmary, or generally appears out of nowhere with a confused look on their face, they are pointed to the registration office by the residents of this place, where they get led into what can only be described as a classroom, and a small girl in a lab coat walked up to the podium and introduced the place they found themselves in now.

"First things first. I am The Professor, and with some help I build the complex you are in now. We are working on the "why" but for now just accept that the area around Little Garden exists between worlds. Some of you are here because they were in danger, others because they were curious, and others because they were either very lucky, or very unfortunate. And it is because of this that the people around you might look unusual. I mean, that one over there has an axe, I look like a child to most of you and am one of those in charge, and that one over there has glowing eyes! Hey! No hiding!" Mildly grumpy, she kept up the program and brought a box containing smaller boxes inside to whoever sat closest to her. On each of the smaller ones inside was "Take one" written, and she returned to the front while the box went around the room.
"Anyway. Just as the sign said, you're all welcome here. Think of it as a vacation or a chance at a new life. Each of you will be given a room that suits your preferred style, and you all will be provided a phone for private uses. Don't worry if you don't know what a phone is, it comes with a pamphlet i made myself~ You can earn the local currency by doing many things. Hunting monsters, working in the cafeteria, or even helping me with an experiment or two. Basic meals are free though, so you won't have to starve if you really can't work. Now anyone who has questions raise your hand, and everyone is free to start exploring."

Locations:

Spoiler

The first floor is a ring shaped lobby with water flowing at the sides of the main walkway. Elevators are at the middle of the area and connect the upper to the lower floors. There is also a button that reads "Exarch" in each elevator, but so far only responds by letting a panel show "Access denied". Bridges from the lobby ring connect the main to the sub areas. These are:

Library:
-Under supervision by The Librarian
-Library usage: All materials are open to public. You may check-out materials at the desk.
-Remain quiet at all times.

Botanical Lab
-Under supervision by The Botanist
-Under no circumstance are fire or flammable substances allowed anywhere near the botanical lab.
-Capable hands can earn Credits by helping with the harvest or transport.

Parking Lot:
-Vehicles and mounts must be parked in the marked areas.
-Damage done by vehicles or mounts are accountable by their owner.
-Under supervision by the autonomous security system

Dormitory:
-Everybody is welcome.
-Every inhabitant is responsible for their room
-Do not leave personal possessions in common areas.

Cafeteria:
-Under supervision by the Chef
-Capable hands can earn credits by serving or making food, or cleaning duties.
-If late-night meals are required, order them before hand.

Public park:
-Since no staff are assigned here, residents are to keep the area clean
-No loud noises after 9.00 pm
-Under no supervision

Infirmary:
-Visit the infirmary if you have any health concerns or problems.
-No items may be taken from the infirmary without permission.
-Is open 24 hours.

Entrance:
-The main point of entry and exit of Little Garden.
-May be used with and without assignments.
-A phone is required to unlock the gates.

The second floor is similar to the lobby area, but offers fewer things to explore. Some areas are under restricted access.

Laboratories:
-Under supervision by the researcher in charge.
-For the sake of research, no subject is taboo so long as subjects enter voluntarily.
-Access can be restricted by researchers in charge.

Ballroom:
-Usable for any special occasion.
-Staff can be hired to support or supervise events.
-Closed while no event happens.

Conference rooms:
-People new to Little garden are to be send here if no health issues are present
-Can be used by anyone as classrooms
-Conference rooms are shared. Use equipment with care.

The third is the smallest of all floors. Roughly only big enough for a few private rooms, and one conference room.
-Only accessible by council members or those invited.
-Appointments may be made over any phone.

Garden Rules:

Hierarchy:
Residents are to abide by the rules. Basic accommodations are free of charge. They can take on jobs by facilities or staff to earn credits.
Staff are entitled to the above, but are to be paid daily for their work and can enjoy the menu of their area for free.
Researchers are entitled to all above and can assign punishments and rewards within reason. Each is to be provided their own lab.
The Council is entitled to all above and can create or remove rules. Has free access to the full menu.
The Exarch keeps Little Garden afloat. Has unrestricted access to all resources and areas. Rarely seen. Whereabouts unknown.

Conduct:
-The equipment acquired in Little Garden must never be used against the facility or its staff.
-Refrain from committing acts that may cause harm to your peers or staff.
-Due to lack of a grand government and the ethics committee deciding not to interfere with personal emotions, no legal age exists. Take time to think things through before starting a relationship.
-Everyone is free to leave when they see fit to do so.

I can't write it all down neatly in one shot, but the ideas with this place would be plenty.

First of all: I kept the less is more rule in mind and refrained from making this play out across 4 continents. Now it is meant to be about the size of a small city to make it feel big enough, yet not too big. The area around it is also unexplored, so people are free to go out there and organize their own events. For each part of this facility would be an own thread. This is me half trying to keep things organized, and half trying to make sure people who want to join in aren't confused by why the topics are changing post by post. Events across threads are considered canon for the sake of continuity, but can play across different time periods to allow writers to write in multiple areas with the same characters if they want to do that. How you explain what happened first is up to you.

Council members will be those who will take the (yet to be made) invitation to be GMs. Both them and researchers can organize their own events/roleplays within this expandable world as they see fit. If by the way the ending allows it, this might add new areas to Little Garden, or the world as a whole. As example: A beach area could be added if found during an exploration.

Residents can be just residents if they choose to do so, but they can also be explorers/fighters to go out there and explore the unexplored.

And lastly, this is kind of an Isekai I admit. It doesn't matter what race you want to play or how they look. So long as you think you will have fun by adding them here, go for it. Bonus points if an android starts having philosophical discussions with a golem.

And as for why everyone is given a phone, they are a bit of a plot device and also allow some common ground across all characters who are likely to come. They can also be used as a kind of meta device by saying your character sends someone a message, and you sending someone an Ecchi Text, but that is just me musing here.

So... How about you tell me what you think so we can collectively decide whenever or not I should flip my table and start anew?

Hm... After thinking more about it, I decided to scrap the idea above this post as far as a grand setting goes. It makes for a good club RP I'm sure, and a good 1x1 with small adjustments, but it isn't quite centered around the idea of lolies and shotas. I'll leave it here in case I get back to it, but for now I need to start with something else I think. Probably less serious, and more fun. Possibly even silly.

So... Apparently I am a big dumb dumb because as it turns out, I don't really need a gold membership to create a club. So after I refund some generous donations, I'll go hide in a hole for a few days and will come back out once I finalize some details.

Also I would like to thank all of you for some of your input. Every bit truly helped, and I will send out some E-Texts to prepare as best I can. Wish me luck! I'll go get a shovel now.

As you decided to shift gears on the project since there was last input given here, let me try and provide a bit of advice in regards to further specifying your club.

For the first part: your name.

Seriously, just giving your club a clear name that sets appropriate expectations will get you farther than any wall of expository text could. Ask for the loli and shota fans, and ye shall receive.

As an extension of this point, pictures very much help. You don't need visual reference for absolutely everything, but a couple smartly chosen pics (especially for the main banner immage) to give your club the proper aesthetic will again go a long way to attracting the kind of people who will like hour idea before you've spoken a word to them.

Now, if you want to go above and beyond and create some sort of setting to help the desired style of roleplay along? Well then keeping the setting fairly general will help out a lot. Example: The idea of a tropical island resort full of desirable beauties is a pretty universally recognized one, so Sweet Treat Island only develops itself in ways that add to what the idea of 'sexy tropical island, but also magical and inter dimensional so anyone can show up there' can provide in terms of stimulating the players' creativity.

So again, less is more, even when adding more 🙂

Stay focused on your general theme, and your players will take it from there if the craving is there for these types of rp

The name is in all honesty my biggest problem. Thanks to some friends here and there, I am slowly kicking things in motion now. You don't get a second first impression after all, so I want all to look good before opening the floodgates. But the name... You have my word that I'll make this one of my top priorities. I want it to sound kinda cool to be honest, but if push comes to shove and the thing needs to roll out, I'll go for something that is about as subtle as a brick to the face.

Leave some things to the creativity of the players while still making it recognizable. Got it.

I'm going for a similar idea in this rp. There will be of course the option for people to just laze around, but others will be given the choice to expand the RP. I wanna go into detail, but that is one of the things still in planning, and where is the fun if I spoil everything anyway? Drop by if it suits your taste.

I get where the "less is more" idea comes from and will stick to it to some degree. But that doesn't change that I will at least attempt to offer that "more". If writers want it, cool. If they don't, I'll go work on another project within the RP. You can't find out what is interesting or not if you haven't tried a few things first, right? But the jump into the RP itself will definitely be on the simple side.
