Another chance - Ranna and Kappei

Recommended Posts

Of course Ranna did not have friends of significance at this point, how many new arrivals did?  There were the youngest members of the Council, of course, but other than them and those who were younger siblings of someone important, no one could have had friends of significance or power of their own in the time she had been here so far.  Reiko might have had a degree of local fame from winning that contest, but she did not have the sort of power to help here.  Granted, she did not have friends to speak of period, but regular friends were only so helpful with this sort of thing, and more likely not to see a problem with what was being asked of her, the sort of thing basically everyone did.

Naturally, she was not blind to what was being implied here, at least about the who, if not the what.  She sighed softly, before getting to the point.  "...And you are the one is going to do that?  Somehow, you think you can protect me all by yourself?  Just because Reiko asked you too?"  Even if he seriously intended to, she was skeptical he could.  She had already drawn attention from one girl who was presumably far beyond his power to do anything about.  And while it looked like he could fight better than her, she was rather skeptical he could stop every boy on campus from trying to get inside her.

OOC: I'd have go digging around, though I might be misremembering, I could have sworn it was established as a more strict rule somewhere.  At the very least there was the 'Rose Knights' (unofficial club) that could have helped her, if they recognized her as such.  Though alternate timelines could shift that either way.  Also, it doesn’t really need to be corrected, but the ‘security forces’ in the main timeline would not exist yet here, they were established in response to the Massacre.

"Sadly yes..." Kappei told her as he gave her a tried smile. Playing this girls white knight wasn't exactly something he wanted to spend his time doing, in fact it would seriously mess up his own campus life... but he guess he was just to stupid for his own good. It wasn't as if breaking his promise would have killed him, but he just wasn't that kind of a guy. he had friends, some closer than others... but there was only one Reiko and he hated seeing her sad.

"You could find plenty of people that are stronger than me, but could you trust them?" while Kappei was able to attend the school because of who his father was, he himself didn't actually have any influence to speak off, in fact most regular students didn't even know who he was. But having influence wasn't the only way you could stop a person, there was also strenght or the appearance of strenght... "Its not something that can be done in a day, but the general idea here is that I would act like a... pardon my choice of words, cockblock."

It was the first step of the plan. It wouldn't protect her when he wasn't around... that part would come later, but in theory nobody would hit on her whenever it was obvious that she was hanging out with him. Even if idea of monogamy wasn't something that was exactly encouraged at the academy, hitting on a girl in front of another guy you saw her already dating was something that was avoided. Not out of respect but simply because it would just be to much trouble. Doing something like that would just end up in a duel and if everyone started doing it then the whole system might collapse in of itself. Being free of inhibitions and doing whatever you felt like didn't mean that there wasn't actual structure to the chaos after all. "You just need to go on dates with me. I have never seen anyone hit on a girl that were already busy with another guy."

OOC: I was including the Rose Knights when I wrote or "even some other lesbian". I see, I will correct the security forces. Okay, I will edit the security force thing.

Ranna was less than thrilled about this, for a variety reasons.  The biggest problem was dating a boy in general, for reasons he somehow still did not get.  Even is she did go along with it, she was not as convinced as he was about it working.  True dating was not really supposed to be a thing here, you were free to like some people more than others of course, but you were ultimately expected to sleep around.  You could mimic dating in a sense, you were even supposed to technically marry another student before graduating, but you were not supposed to be faithful.  This might work to a degree, might stop other boys from hitting on her sometimes, but she could not imagining it stopping everything.

"...Look, I am not saying I don't appreciate the gesture...but there are several things you don't understand about what you are getting into..."  She was going to have to try to explain the curse more blatantly before things got any further, but she supposed it was time to mention her past experience first, if only because she could not rule out it happening again.  "First of all, I may not have friends in high places, but I have at least one 'connection' so far, that I did not ask for.  Detta Franca."  She figured mentioning the name was enough for him to understand the context.  It was a name everyone on campus would know, and from what she had learned about the girl, it was not impossible Kappei already had a somewhat similar experience with her.  She was upfront about wanting to do it with everyone, or as close to it as possible.  "...She is not inclined to find me again, but I can't rule out any of the others, who would care much less about you, trying to hit on me."  She did not know how likely it was, new as she was, she little about the other Council members, other than their names.  But if it happened once, it could happen again.

Kappei just gave Ranna this pitying look. Getting involved with the council was bad enough, but Detta was a particularly abusive person. Her habit of sleeping around with boys and girls she found attractive was one thing, but it was the way she got her hands on those boys and girls that was troubling. Blackmailing and threats were not uncommon for her and once she had gotten what she wanted, she ignored them and went after her next target... and that was if you were lucky... if there was a chance to use you, she would wring you like a towel until there was nothing more to give.

"Well, that should protect you from the council at least" Kappei told Ranna, never having been to the woman's taste himself. He wasn't exactly the type she would have enjoyed targeting, nor was she the type of person that fancied his interest. Kappei liked nice girls and Franka liked boys and girls that she could dominate. "Nobody in the council would ever want to associate with any girl or boy that Franka got her claws into..."

Ranna was less certain about that.  There was also the likelihood they did not know, part of the point of not wanting to see her again, and wanting her to keep quiet about it, was even she preferred the others not to know.  Because she understood what this boy still did not.  Ranna was a novelty to her, a unique thing, one that could potentially be a male or female partner partner for her.  But Detta also realized how most of the school would see her, it was a partner even she preferred not to be public knowledge, or knowledge to the others.  They did have some shame after all, if they thought something could impact their reputation enough.  "Maybe...we'll see about that."

But now there was the more important matter to get to.  "Since you did not seem to get what I was trying to tell you earlier, the reason I was not interested in my classmate, why I am not interested in your idea, why I want nothing to do with that 'contest', and the source Reiko's current obsession with how I am not feminine enough.  It all has the same reason.  Let me spell this out as clearly as I can.  I.  Am.  Not.  A.  Girl.   Yes, I look like one at the moment.  Yes, I have all the parts.  That's all temporary though.  I am a boy, and sometimes even have the body of one.  This is part where I sound insane, but this was all the joke of some demon, back where me and Reiko lived, in an abandoned house, who was offended that I was not scared enough of him when I stumbled upon him."  She reached into a coat pocket and tossed him her student ID, with a picture of her as a boy, and listed as male.  Obviously it was hard to believe, but she had made it known to the school and her classmates, she was not exactly trying to keep it secret anymore and was somewhat used to explaining it.

"So you are going to show this card to everyone that tries hitting on you?" Giving her ID-card a glance Kappei handed it back to Ranna. A curse that had turned her into a girl? Was she serious? Having a serious magical problem was indeed something that would make you ostracized. The main reason for this was not truly out of malice though, but out of fear and self-preservation.

"It wont stop that many from trying to hook up with you though." Reiko had never once referred to Ranna as her brother or a boy and she even had a photo of them that were a few years old, both of them girls in it. So was Ranna lying? Faking an ID card wasn't difficult and claiming that you were a different sex wasn't new either... so was that it? Kappei didn't know what to believe here. He trusted Reiko, but he also believed Ranna. "Or are you telling me it is contagious?"

"No.  I was making the point to you, since you did not get what I was trying to tell you earlier, and are now suggesting dating as a solution.  Pointing out you are not asking a girl.  I already know that wouldn't work.  All of my classmates have been informed of this by the teachers.  A few have seen it for themselves, but as you saw, some refuse to believe.  Showing that boy my card would not have changed anything."  Granted Ranna understood that to a degree, but after making the point to prove it to the school, and have documentation to prove it, she was rather annoyed some were still in denial.  "It would be one thing if you were a girl, but like I said earlier, all the girls aware of this...with one major exception, treat me as something neither boy or girl, keep their distance from me."  Contagious?  Wouldn't that be amusing?  She might have been slightly tempted to accept some requests if that was actually the case.  "Maybe you would 'catch' it if I took you home and showed you the demon.  It wasn't very frightening looking honestly.  It was dark, I'll admit, but I assumed he was some random homeless man who had hid in the house for shelter...unless you start hearing rumors of Detta changing into a boy, that isn't something anyone has to worry about."

Ranna was literally rambling now, talking about how nobody would believe her anyway and then going into detail about this demon she claimed had cursed her. Her story was just all over the place though and only seemed less believable the more she talked about it. It seemed really important to her that he believed her so he patiently continued to listen to what she was saying.

"So how are you going to handle things then?" In the end it didn't really matter whether he believed her or not or even if she really was cursed. She didn't really have much of a choice. Either she found some way of protecting herself or she was going to end up being forced to do a lot of things she probably didn't want to do. She seemed like a smart enough girl so she shouldn't have trouble understanding something as simple as this. But maybe he hadn't explained it properly? "Listen, I wasn't saying that we would be an actual couple... we would just pretend in public that we are."

That was of course the problem.  As fas as Ranna was concerned, there was no easy solution.  Even she had not really been serious about the idea of training to fight, though she did believe that was the closest thing to a real solution.  It would work, in theory, at least as long as she could win.  It was something that apparently some of the more skilled fighters used, the justification being they were popular enough that they legitimately did not have time to do it with everyone who asked.  So, only the worthy would have a chance with them.  Ranna of course knew she was nowhere near that level of skill, and even if she had the potential, would not be there remotely soon.

She was not a fan of this idea though, the core concept bothered her, she was skeptical it would do more than maybe moderately reduce the number of boys harassing her, and of course that this idea was ultimately inspired by Reiko and her dreams for her ‘little sister’, did not help.  Reiko, of course did not want this to be ‘pretend’, when she suggested it.  That much Ranna was sure of.  And sooner or later, she would find a way to get involved.  “Setting aside the obvious reason why I don’t like this, I still think you are way too confident about how well this work.”  There was the obvious problem too that even if she agreed to it, he could not be around her all the time, and she could be hit on at almost any time.

"I'm not asking you to simply believe me though. Go out with me on a fake date today and you can be the judge yourself." Kappei explained, for the first time feeling that she was about to accept his proposal. Starting to go on dates with him of course was only a part of the strategy he had come up with. When Ranna had seen first hand that it actually worked and how little she actually had to do, then he would explain to her the second part.

"So how about it? Say after class I pick you up in front of your classmates and we go grab some grub?" his proposition wasn't bad for her as far as he could see. If she didn't like it she could just leave at any time during the date... and at least she would get some free dinner out of it. If Kappei had been a woman he thought he probably would have accepted, if only because he probably would have figured he could have made his date buy him some really expensive food. Thinking about it like that, he supposed it was a good thing he wasn't a woman.

Ranna was still reluctant.  The core concept of all of this was just wrong.  And she was not much more confident it would work.  Yet there was both bitterness and respect towards her sister's manipulation this time.  This was more effective than most of her other attempts.  Think like a girl, act like a girl, get closer to a boy and let him do the same to you.  Her intentions were obvious, and she found maybe the only boy on campus who had interest in girls but would not start with trying to get her clothes off first thing.  It was annoying, Reiko seemed to be pulling her strings with some success.  The worst part of it all was, due to not seeing any easy answers, she did not see any alternatives.

"Oh yes, lovely, escort me to the cafeteria where we can lovely dinner, while being treated to other 'couples' screwing each other as we eat."  She half-agreed, with significant sarcasm.  "This sounds like a fake date in more ways than one."  There were relatively few options for anything even semi-romantic here.  That was the point of course, love might occasionally happen, but it was sex, not love, they were encouraging.  The idea of going of going on anything even resembling a date here seemed weird.

"If that is where you want to go sure... but I was thinking more of something like one of those food-stalls in the recreation zone" Located practically in the middle of nowhere the academy was isolated from the rest of the country, only connected to the outside by railway. Because of this, the students and people working for the school all lived on campus grounds and this created the necessity for a place where they could all relax and enjoy themselves outside of classes. This was why the recreation zone had been created, a region on campus where several restaurants and boutiques set up shop to do business. While you couldn't get everything there, the variety of shops found in this zone was wide enough that it felt as if it could have belong to a small town. Of course the recreation zone was still on campus and the same people that committed acts of debauchery would be found here as well. So while the setting was better than the school cafeteria or the school diner, students could still be found fooling around.

Ranna was slightly uneasy about that.  New as she was, the closed campus society had already been made clear to her and all her classmates.  You simply did not leave campus for any reason, without permission, which was rarely granted, until graduation.  Four years of living in one small area, the only new people being the new first year students each year, and the rare older transfers.  Even the breaks just meant living on campus without classes.  One of the many pieces to try to make them into a separate culture.  To see everyone else as outsiders.  This place may have technically been on campus, but it did not really feel like it to her, when she thought about it.

She considered it for a moment, still wrestling with just saying no.  None of this was right.  But she could not actually say it.  "So you want to show me that in a 'classier' area?"  She did not know how different it would be, a little less crowded probably.  The illusion of not being on a campus.  But perhaps not that different of an experience, all things considered.  "Whatever, your the one 'asking me out'."  Not enthusiastic at all about it, she did not really care where they went.

"Then it's a date... I'll pick you up after class and we'll get a bite to eat." Ranna's apprehension wasn't lost on him but it was expected. No, he actually appreciated it to a degree. Normally somebody you had just met wouldn't just go out on a date with you just like that right? There was nothing for her to worry about though. His reason for taking her to the recreation zone was because it was simply a more normal place to have a date on.

"Reiko said you didn't have a phone... so here, use mine" he told her handing her his phone. It was an older model and didn't have all the gimmicks that more recent ones had but it still served it's main function, the ability to communicate with other people over distances. After the great cataclysm had introduced magic to the modern world, not only did this change a lot of common held beliefs about how reality worked but it also had great effects on science and society as a whole. Fossil fuels, nuclear, solar and wind power alternatives still existed but only as novelties or in other capacities now and all mechanical appliances were powered by magic instead. Kappei hadn't even been born when the cataclysm happened though so to him magic was just normal. "I'll feel better if you call her and confirm for yourself that I am who said I am and that she asked me to help you."

No comment about what she said?  Well, it was not like Ranna was not used to seeing it already.  You just never knew when you would walk in on two, or sometimes more, people having sex openly here.  Occasionally she was impressed by the originality of how/where they were doing it.  Ranna just usually walked past them without comment or stopping to watch.  Though people who did not know her occasionally tried to invite her to join in.  Her dorm room and classrooms during class being the main exceptions to seeing it.  The dorm was an interesting experience.  The notice had gone out to her neighbors, and those near the entrance.  To explain why someone who at times appeared to be a girl was living there.  There was the occasional comment, or stare, but so far no one there treated her like her classmates just had.  Being in such a place probably made think of her less as a girl, especially with her not encouraging them to think of her as one or treat her as one.

She was not really interested in the phone, but took it.  "Yeah, yeah.  I have a lot to tell her anyways.  And she has things to confirm to you."  It was a talk she wanted to have anyways, considering everything that had just happened.  She had started to call before even being told to, and the phone to her ear by the time she finished saying that.  She was sure Reiko would pick up, at the current time.  Though she was likely to surprised at who was on the other end.

OOC: Did not have time to start the phone conversation this time, will get to that next post.

Originally Kappei had planned to wait there until she had finished her phone-call, but giving it a second thought he realized that she probably wanted some privacy and that it would have rather rude if he had stayed. For sure, most girls at the academy didn't really care if a guy was a bit awkward as long as he could give them what they wanted at the moment, but that wasn't how people normally acted. Ranna had only been at the academy for a few days and had no doubt already seen a lot of things that would make any normal person shocked, but that didn't mean that she had just changed over night and become like other students. Some girls and boys did change over night and others took a little longer... but there were people that never really conformed to the standards practices on this campus.

"I'll leave you to it then. You can just give my phone back to me when I come pick you up." He told her with a smile as he started to leave. The phone-call would also help assure Reiko that things were going to be alright now he hoped. That girl really loved her little sister and Ranna should be happy that she had such a dotting sibling. Maybe having a sibling that cared so much for you would be a bit annoying at times but it sure beat being alone and unloved. If Kappei had an older sister or younger one, he would just suck it up and appreciate all their meddling for what it was.

OOC: That is okay. Just have the phone conversation between the siblings and then have Ranna head back to class and stuff. We will then just do a tiny time-jump to when Her last class for the day when Kappei comes to pick her up.

"...Listen to what I say, idiot..."  Ranna muttered in frustration as he left.  Part of the point was to make Reiko confirm the curse to him.  Granted there were still other things to say, but that was an important piece that she much rather would have had covered here.  She was not going to run after him though.  She was also distracted by the phone being picked up.  "Hmm, is something wrong, Kappei?  I wasn't expecting a call."  There she was, her dear sister.

"Reikoooo, we need to talk."  Ranna replied in an obviously fake cheerfulness.  "Oh, and don't jump to conclusions about why I am calling you from this phone."

A moment of silence.  "Hm?!  Ranna?  Ah, I see.  Kappei must have walked across you in trouble and helped.  Isn't wonderful to have such a friend?"

"Yeah, sure, friend.  Just admit you are trying to hook me up with him.  Get a boyfriend, see the light, sleep with him, realize I am a girl deep down.  It was your idea for him to suggest this nonsense about a 'fake date', wasn't it?"

"Well, you should always keep an open mind, Ranna.  Fate gave you this opportunity for a reason.  You make no effort to rush out of your girl form these days after all."

"I'm not letting the curse control me, Reiko.  I'll just use whichever body I have at the moment, doesn't mean I consider myself a girl.  Oh, and thanks for not telling me all the details of this place.  You were just hoping for me to get 'enlightened' after getting laid over and over again, weren't you?"

Reiko seemed genuinely surprised by that accusation.  "Of course not.  You are not ready for that yet.  It even took time for me to get comfortable with that part of campus life, many girls need to adjust to that...though the boys tend to be immediately eager.  Eventually, you may want to dive into that, and I'll support it if you do, but you need to take smaller steps first...though if you want to get involved with girls as a boy, I can't complain about that either."  While she basically assumed it was the case, Ranna was not thrilled with Reiko openly admitting she had spent several years doing what she saw so many others do.  It was just weird to know that about her sister.

"I'm not doing it with anyone, as anyone.  I'm not exactly looked at as a normal boy or girl, though a certain someone doesn't seem to get it...How many people have told about the curse?"

"Only a few of my closest friends, I promise.  They are not the sort to gossip about it either.  You are not common knowledge to the upper classmen, or anything like that."

That was some relief, though it also meant she was likely to be hit on because they did not know.  Which just reinforced her thoughts that this would not work nearly as well as suggested.  With no response from Ranna, Reiko continued.

"You really should at least give it a chance Ranna.  Your body is entirely female at the moment.  You should let a boy treat you like a girl and see if your mind and heart have shifted as well."

"This was a curse from a demon, to punish me, why defeat the purpose by making me like the changes?  Anyway, that's enough.  I also wanted you to confirm the curse to him, but he walked away as I was calling.  Tell him later.  Nothing good comes from him thinking I'm an ordinary girl.  I have to go."  Ranna hung up, sure she would somehow be hearing from Reiko again, one way or another.  It was about time to get to her next class, and the boys from before were nowhere in sight.

As Ranna went back into the building for her next class a rumble could be heard and the rather dark clouds that had formed for hours finally started releasing the rain that they had been holding onto. Kappei not having many lessons that day himself finished quickly and then headed back towards the buildings where he knew Ranna would have all her classes today. As you started choosing the subjects you wanted to study you could set up your on schedule and had the possibility of having to travel all over campus between buildings as you took your classes... but 1st years of highschool were not allowed to do so yet, assigned a older student to show them around, the first two weeks they were forced to take all their classes with their homeroom teacher. The girl assigned to show Ranna around had hammered home how important it was that the younger girl didn't break any rules at the academy and didn't walk around by herself outside of school hours unless she had a chaperon... but that was the extent of her help. As long as Ranna was just a good little girl and didn't break any rules, then the older girl didn't have to bother with her. because really... who wanted to be a chaperon for a new student if they could avoid it?

Kappei leaned against the wall outside of Ranna's classroom as he waited for her last lesson for the day to end. If Ranna had ended up getting a chaperon that had actually taken their job seriously then taking her on a date like this would have been much harder... so in a way he supposed the young girl had been lucky in a sense?

Ranna's chaperone was essentially the same as the girls in her classes.  She was uneasy with what Ranna was.  She did the most important part of her job, but did not really want to be involved with her beyond that.  The girl always seemed unsure how to advise her, half the time trying to tell her how to get used to things as a girl, and exactly what she could expect if she started letting guys have their way with her, half the time encouraging her to try harder to hit on girls around her.  That especially ones who did not know her, would be easily convinced.  Even the ones in her classes probably just needed a little extra push.  Though she pointed out, she did not really want to help Ranna personally in that fashion.  Also how to hopefully avoid ever being in the arena.  Ranna supposed she had good intentions, but in a way she was a lazier and more indecisive Reiko.

She did wonder whether the current plan should be delayed with the weather.  But reluctantly, as class ended, she walked out to make the scene she really did not want to as she silently walked out of the class towards the older boy waiting for her.  There was of course the intended reaction from the boys, but she had no idea how the other girls would react.  She quickly and quietly shoved the phone back into his hands.  Hoping to get away from the area quickly.

Kappei pocketed his phone and motioned for Ranna that they were leaving. He would of course have to get her a phone of her own later at some point since it would make keeping her safe a lot easier, but that was something that could be done later. Just like her older sister had back then when he had first met her, Ranna reminded him of a small scared little bunny. A pink bunny. Kappei wasn't stupid enough to actually tell her this though.

"A brought an umbrella since it is still raining" he told her as lead her out of the building, taking note of the stares Ranna's classmates were giving them. Once outside the rain showed no signs of letting up, having continued off and on for several hours already. Personally he loved the rain but it really made having a normal date a bit awkward. Unfolding the umbrella the red and white striped umbrella he brought with him he held it over their heads as he motioned Ranna to get closer to him so that it would both of them.

"We'll have to take one of the trolleys to get recreation district." It was the chaperons job to show the new students around the school and make sure that they understood how important the rules were, but that didn't mean that all of them actually showed them around campus. In Ranna's case her own chaperon had just shown her the buildings she would have her first two weeks of classes in, the dorm she would be staying at and the main school cafeteria. This meant that Ranna was already familiar with the trolley system, but because her chaperon hadn't paid her enough attention she still hadn't seen much of what campus had to offer outside of the few places she had visited so far.

There was of course another thing motivating them to move.  At least a few of the girls looked like they were about to ask to either join in and/or replace Ranna, especially since, for all they knew, this was something much more casual.  Ranna would have been slightly tempted to agree, especially to having a third person along, though she was sure it helped motivate Kappei to move before they got the chance.  She was not thrilled about sharing an umbrella.  One of those 'romantic' cliches, Reiko would have been giddy about her experiencing.  The train of course was another matter.  The open sexuality of the place was more cliche than usual, the stories you sometimes heard about girls being groped/screwed on the train, not only true here, but allowed, encouraged and done openly.  She had been lucky enough to avoid it so far on the occasions she rode it as a girl.  Picking times where it was less crowded, the people on the train usually already busy with someone else.  Usually working on homework/pretending to, or studying, just to make it a little more awkward for someone to try.  "Hmm, yes, doesn't get much more romantic here than the trains."  She sarcastically observed, especially as she expected them to be more crowded than she was used to.

"They can be romantic I suppose? But I have always just found them to be soothing." He told her as he allowed her to climb onto the trolley first, making sure the umbrella was always protecting her from the rain. Once the girl had climbed aboard he followed suit and then quickly found them an empty pair of chairs that they could sit on and avoid getting bothered. Choosing seats like this didn't just help them avoid a lot of people but it would also be a clear signal to people that they wanted to be left alone.

"Haaaaah!" Kappei deeply exhaled as he took his seat next to Ranna, having waited until she had sat down first. "I was thinking that maybe the rain would put a damper on this date... but I guess it really was a blessing in disguise". Because of the heavy downpour there were actually less people using the trolley than would have been usual otherwise at this hour. While some students might have chosen to simply stay longer on the trolley itself and try to wait out the rain and leave whenever there was a pause in the downfall, most people simply went home and stayed there. That of course didn't mean that the train was empty, far from it. There were plenty of other students there, some wet from the rain and other ones dry because they had actually brought an umbrella.

"When one of those girls with wet clothes decides to take them off and give a show to the rest of us with one of the boys around here, that's when it gets romantic?"  Ranna would not have been surprised at all if something like that did happen in the next few minutes.  The wet clothes probably just made it even more likely than if the weather had been better.  Not that anyone needed an excuse, but she could see someone wanting to take off their wet clothes just for convenience and then take advantage of the situation, or to just do something a little different.  As in a place like this they were normally more likely to just slide their skirt out of the way and pull their panties down for some quick action.  That was how it usually happened when she had been around, anyway.  She was not likely to relax either way, she was not thrilled by any of this, but now she was cautious about having to watch others have a bit too much fun.

"Perhaps...? I'm not one to judge though. I guess romance is more a shared atmosphere than anything else?" Kappei suggested trying to be diplomatic. Did Ranna always argue with everyone about everything or was she simply lashing out against him because they were going out on a date? Listening to her constant complaints wasn't fun, but responding in kind would only make things worse. Better to just be patient and wait until she came around.

Some of the people around them did partake in some light petting fondling but it was a far cry from what Ranna had seen happen before. It had nothing to do with the weather of course, it was just by pure coincidence that nobody had started actually having sex yet. The rain continued to drizzle down outside and it wasn't long before the trolley finally arrived at the destination that Kappei had wanted to take Ranna too. Getting out of his seat he gestured for Ranna to follow him as he got out of the train and opened the umbrella again. There might not have been anything he could do about her attitude, but at the very least Kappei intended to make sure that he was a proper gentleman throughout their whole date.

"An orgy is the most romantic thing in the world, after all."  Ranna did not consider this lashing out.  She just found the whole idea of romance/dating in such a place to be strange, hilarious in a sense.  That and if she had to do it, she would have much preferred to do it with a girl.  Even more hilarious was the idea that one of the trains here could be considered romantic or soothing in any way.  She hated to admit she was thinking 'like a girl', or one that was not a student here, at least.  Without the curse, she likely would have had a different outlook, maybe even been happy to be on the train.  Though she still doubted she would think of anything here as romantic.

That they managed to not see anything like that on the train was surprising.  But if they were still technically on campus, she found it very hard to believe they would not see it, and probably multiple times, before all this was over.  She quietly followed behind, only hoping the weather cooperated enough to avoid being under the umbrella.  It was already enough to go through without that awkwardness.  She just wanted to get to the next stop on this without trouble or having to do anything that felt weird.
