Esper - They have supernatural abilities such as the ability to control fire, move rocks or even manipulate a person. 

Guide - They are like healers and take away the negative energy associated with Espers using their abilities. When helping an Esper, it is called "Guiding."

Awakening - From pre-teen to young adult, a person can go through an "Awakening." It starts with them feeling under the weather, and then they gain a high fever that can last from a few days to a week. After it has happened, the person will either become an Esper or a Guide. Espers or friends/family will recognise they are one fast because their abilities can be openly experienced. Guides are not usually discovered right away because unless they touch an Esper or get tested, they can go their whole life without knowing that they are a Guide.

Ranking - Generally, tests are done to see how powerful an Esper or Guide are. They are then ranked from D to S. The lower on the scale, the less powerful their ability is. Guide ranks are what type of Esper they can provide guiding (healing) to. 

Backlash - If Espers go without guiding for too long, they will start to have trouble controlling their abilities and will lose control, causing damage to themselves and others. The higher the rank of the epser, the more dangerous they can be when backlash happens. 

Imprinting - When an Esper and Guide decide to become exclusive. This means they cannot do guiding with anyone else. 

Methods - Simple touch, kissing, and sexual penetration. The Esper will usually feel pleasure from this experience. Think of having a cold drink on a hot day. It is both a relief and pleasurable. (You might also say "Ahhhh that's soooo nice and cool.) This is the type of pleasure that usually happens, but some Espers can get aroused.
