  2. In 2015, 1 January, Los Angeles was turned into a war zone for two days as TV Head an a hand full of Villains assaulted and demolished the metropolis. On the first day the several dozen high ranked Villains, thugs and mercenaries, killed over one hundred thousands people, comprised of civilians, first responders and Heroes. TV Head hijacked major radio stations and local TV networks via radio manipulation and professed his ideology to the world. He said that the U.S. an its Heroes and Villains were nothing but a show now and swore to give the world the greatest show it had ever wanted, effectively declaring war on the U.S.. Between saving civilians, defending evacuation points and fighting the villains, the heroes that were there in the initial attack were kept on their back foot. It wasn't until the second day that Technomancer had organized with the U.S. military and the top twenty heroes for a counter attack. Fighting along the U.S. coast guard and navy, the top ten Heroes were able to push the Villains back out. By the end, over 150,000 thousand died an even more wounded while there was only a handful of Heroes and Villains left standing. The few villains that survived barely made it out with their lives. It was on that first day that Lillian's lover had been murdered at the hands of TV Head with little regard, like an after thought. Over the next month the U.S. was left in shock as politicians and Home Land Security scrambled to decide on how to handle what was considered the largest security break in U.S. history. Fearing a repeat of September 11th, the U.S. government opted to handle the issue with covertness, taking to using a scalpel instead of a hammer. The matter was to be handled with the upmost scrutiny and tactfulness. Not wanting to incite mass hysteria or unrest, the U.S. Government took to managing the issue behind the scenes while assuring the public that it was doing everything in its power to uncover the Villains and their plots. During that time the government platformed and put heroes on a pedestal, praising the heroes for their hard work. Like wise, the media began putting even more attention onto the Heroes of the U.S.. In no time the focus went from how the Government was going to handle the threat to how would the Heroes handle this threat. Some feared losing popularity while others saw it as the perfect chance to earn more of it, but both were put into spotlight. Even though some Heroes were public servants, their affiliation with the government was quickly lost from public sight as the subjects and interviews centered around what the Heroes themselves would do. Despite all the big talk that the government and Heroes were giving, no progress was being made. TV Head's trail was spotless. During that time, TV Head had cemented what would soon be known as the Villains Syndicate in a massive underground network of tunnels that spanned much of the U.S.. Their numbers were small but their resources an interest groups were growing every day. By the end of the month after the attack on L.A., TV Head had refitted and modified a part of the tunnels into what he had dubbed "The Proving Grounds". This place would be where he would nurture the next generation of Villains. He would use this place to teach them while giving refuge and sanctuary to Villains from all over. TV Head had made himself known to the world but he still needed to get the word out about the Villains Syndicate and he knew exactly how to do it. At first, TV Head hadn't noticed, but Lillian had dropped the smallest of seeds onto his hoodie. It wasn't until the flower had started to grow that TV Head noticed an intrusion. The flower, of course, had its own magnetic field that, once grown, was easily detected by TV Head. His magnetic field was like another layer of skin whereas the flower was like noticing a pimple. TV Head recognized the flower and knew then that it was only a matter of time until one the top 10 heroes, Trip Star, was coming after him. He would set a trap and record the slaughter on video for the internet to see as an announcement of the Villains Syndicate's arrival. TV Head rounded up the villains an informed them that they could expect an attack from one of two directions in the tunnels from the Heroes and likely, the military. There was debates and yelling, as some Villains left while others decided to fight the heroes. After that, there was much deliberation on what to do, on whether or not take the fight to the heroes or wait for them to find the Proving Grounds. It was decided to wait to fight on the Proving Grounds on the single fact that the P.G. was the most known territory they had control of. They knew they were safe from sonar or radio signal's down there, so they could use that to their advantage to avoid detection from above ground. With that in mind, two lines were to be set up for either entrance of the P.G. while TV Head would use his radio waves as sonar for the underground tunnels. If the military was detected then they would simply blow up which ever side they were coming from, dropping rubble with not needing to fear being trapped. If it was just Heroes, then the villains could lay in wait to ambush them. The only hole in the plan was that it rested on the idea that the enemy would either detonated a charge or break down a door to get into the tunnels. That or bypass one of the security doors. Either choice would give plenty of notice to the villains to set up. But this plan assumed that Trip Star and whoever she may bring did not have an alternative route that TV Head could not have known about. TV Head could never be too sure, but he doubted those chances. All the Villains would have to do is wait for the signal.
  3. A sadistic smile twisted on Hunter’s lips as he watched the figure in front of him as they seemed to twist on the spot as if lost. To most people, the figure would be barely visible within the dim lighting of the abandoned warehouse as shadows seemed to cling to every surface, unyielding to the meagre light of the mid-afternoon Chicago sun that attempted to peer in through the murky windows. He tilted his head as he continued to observe the man. To Hunter, the man looked pretentious in a rather flashy looking blue and white costume that looked to be something one of those figure skaters would wear. It was skin tight, allowing Hunter to see the curves of their body. He had pale skin that almost seemed to glow, made even more noticeable by his pitch black hair. He had the haughty expression that Hunter had seen on many heroes before. The kind of expression that made him laugh. He watched from the shadows as the hero brought his hand up, a shard of ice appearing in his grip. The man threw the shard, and Hunter watched the projectile as it sailed through the air, before impacting the wall of the warehouse, penetrating deep. It was also nowhere near him. Hunter let out a derisive snort before saying in an almost singsong voice, “Missed me~” He then laughed as the hero quickly turned towards him and threw yet another projectile. But he was too slow. Hunter was in his element, hidden within the shadows of the warehouse which were numerous and all he had to do was move along the shadows, quicker than the hero could run. He shifted until he was standing behind the man, who was completely unaware of the danger that lurked so closeby. He was a fool to have followed Hunter into the warehouse. When he had first confronted Hunter, he had claimed that he was going to bring Hunter to justice, to cash in the bounty that was on his head. And yet the fool knew nothing about the prey he hunted. If this was the standard for heroes, then Hunter was sorely disappointed. This hero wasn’t as entertaining as he had been hoping. In fact he was rather boring, only able to fire these pathetic little ice shards that did no damage to him while he was in the shadows. At this point, Hunter was merely playing with the man. As silent as smoke, he emerged from the shadows before taping the man on the shoulder. Even as the man jumped in surprise, Hunter melded into the shadows, watching as the hero turned around and threw another ice shard that seemed to land where Hunter was however it wasn’t able to do any damage. He laughed again, “You’re so God-damn pathetic. Are you, like… retarded, or something? I thought you were here to cash in my bounty.” Hunter laughed again, mocking the man as he quickly moved away so that he was behind the man again. He emerged from the shadows, bending over as he picked up a piece of wood which he then threw at the hero before shrouding himself in the shadows once again. The wood hit the hero on the head causing him to turn around and shout, “Come on out, you coward!” Hunter couldn’t resist but to roll his eyes, or rather the equivalent of. This hero was beginning to really bore him. He made a tutting sound before he said, “You’re very pathetic, you know. You say that you’re here to collect on the bounty that’s on my head, and you can’t even hit me with the most basic of attacks. You couldn’t fight your way out of a paper bag.” “Shut up.” The hero snarled, “I don’t have to listen to this.” Hunter emerged from the shadows in front of him, his upper lip curled in a snarl of disgust as he tilted his head a little, looking down his nose at the hero, “You know nothing about me. You just saw the dollar signs on my name, and felt the chance to give yourself a feel good wank like all you heroes do. You take down anyone that disagrees with you, and then stand around congratulating yourselves in one massive circle jerk. You’re just a bunch of liars that think of nothing but looking and feeling good. You don’t actually care about helping people and you don’t care about the people that you kill with your incompetence. You’re a bunch of hypocrites.” As Hunter watched, he saw the hero’s face twist in anger before the man threw another shard at him. A tutting sound escaped Hunter as he once again blended into the shadows, causing him to completely evade the attack despite the fact that the shard struck with pinpoint accuracy. In a rather mocking tone, he said, “Let me tell you something, hero. When someone does the same thing over, and over again and expects a different result… that is the definition of insanity. That perfectly describes you… and the rest of your do-nothing organisation.” “I’ll make you pay for that!” The hero growled before running towards where Hunter’s voice had come from. Hunter sighed a little before he moved behind the hero in a flash before he emerged from the shadows. The whites of his eyes had turned a solid black as his own shadow moved across the floor like a sinister snake. As it wrapped around the ankle of the hero, the man tripped and fell to the floor face first with a might crack as his nose collided with the concrete and snapped the bone in half. The man let out a scream of agony, but he didn’t seem to notice the shadowy hand that crept up his leg and torso before wrapping around his neck. Hunter stepped up to the side of the hero, tilting his head a little as he looked down at the hero who twisted on his side to look up at Hunter as blood flowed freely from his nose like a river. The gangster smirked down at his victim and said in a mocking sympathetic tone, “This is the end of your career, I’m afraid.” The shadowy hand on the man's neck suddenly tightened, causing the hero to let out a choking sound. He reached up, attempting to claw at what was strangling him, but his hands met nothing but thin air. Hunter’s sadistic smirk widened as he said, “Just a few more moments, and it’s goodnight.” He squatted down, his gold and black eyes intent on the hero’s face. The hero seemed to realise that these were the last few moments of his life. His blue eyes went wide with panic, the eyeballs bulging from their sockets. His mouth opened and closed, making him look like a gaping fish. His body twitched before he began to writhe on the floor in a pathetic attempt to escape the cold grip of death. But there was nothing he could do, and Hunter watched with a certain glee as the man's struggles began to lessen. His face had turned pale, as his lips turned a shade of blue due to the lack of oxygen. Hunter tightened the grip of the shadow, his own jaw clenching as he watched the hero’s eyes become dim before a lifeless look settled in them as his body went still. Hunter watched for several long minutes before he reached forwards and pressed his fingers against the man’s neck, searching for the tale tell pulse that would indicate that he was still alive. When he could not find it, he pulled his hand away and stood up as his shadow retracted. With a blink of his eyes, the whites had turned to their normal colour. He kicked the body of the hero so that they were on their back before he spat on their corpse. This was not the first hero he had killed, and he felt no remorse for their death. After all, they had been the ones to come after him. Why should he feel bad about defending himself? Besides, he held contempt for heroes in general. He had not been lying when he called heroes liars and hypocrites. They were. All they cared about was making themselves feel good about themselves. It made him feel sick to his stomach because they dared to say that he couldn’t use his Quirk the way he did. Still, at least with the death of this latest hero, his bounty might increase which could mean more heroes will be coming after him. Which meant he could kill more of them and he quite liked that idea.
  4. Neptune

    Moira Dansken

    From the album: Neptune's NPCs

Note! This is actually a character that does not actually belong to me. They belong to another Dreamer who created the character to be the older sister of Kellina, however they are no longer active within the RP. Therefore I have made them an NPC for the time being, but I will not RP them in any sexual capacity. Name: Moira Dansken. Age: 25 Gender: Female Religion: Christian Species: Human Origin/Nationality: She comes from the Kilsyth Colony in the Glamis System. This star system is a binary star system with two type M stars, Glamis A and Glamis B. There are four rocky planets. In the outer system are 5 gas giants, ranging in size and colours. The largest one, Alyth, is purple in colour and is three times the size of Jupiter. Alyth has several moons orbiting it, with one being an Earth-like moon. This is where the Kilsyth Colony resides. Occupation: Bounty Hunter Faction: None. Physical Appearance Height: 6ft 3/4” Weight: 11st 2lbs Eye Colour: Bright blue Hair Colour: brown Physical Description: Moira prides herself on keeping herself fit and ready for action. Her hourglass body is offset with large breasts that she often grumbles about. She has a heart shaped face with delicate features, but unlike her sister, she prefers to keep her make-up to a minimum. Her hair is straight and long enough that it touches her backside, and she scoops back her hair away from her face to keep the majority away from her face. Her combat dress is body hugging and semi-revealing, and she tries to be practical about it. It is always black in colour. Personality, Traits and Abilities General Overview: Moira is the planner and has a need for everything to be in her control. She will often become frustrated if she can't work a situation in her favour, which leads her to be at odds with her sister's more free spirited nature. She is often cool and collected, but has a fierce undertone to her nature. She exudes self confidence and is extremely intelligent. She is normally the one to do all the talking in any given situation and the one to conduct the intricacies of a deal or bounty. However, she is a fairly spiritual person, believing in God enough to favour spouting scripture to intimidate her opponents. Coupled with her intense demeanour it can shake the boots of most harden criminals. However, many mistake her religiousness to mean she would behave in a moral manner. In fact, if pushed, her temper can lead her to do things she shouldn't. However, behind closed doors she is an extremely lonely person. She has not the same confidence as her sister with people and she often envies Kellina even if she does not agree with her sisters behaviour. She appears content with tinkering with her toys and any time she may go out she makes sure to hide herself in a corner to watch everyone. In these situations she comes across as guarded and, though social interaction is not normally a problem, she prefers to keep people at a distance. However, deep down she cares a great deal, especially for her sister and has a soft spot for weak or vulnerable people. She can be as much as a defender as an aggressor if the need arose. Not many have seen her true smile except for Kellina who, being the last family she has, will defend with her life. Strengths, Skills and Abilities: Intelligence: She feels this gives her an extra edge over her opponents. Her quick thinking and problem solving gets both sisters out of most scrapes. Engineering: She prides herself on her high level of technical know how, and tries to keep up to date with up and coming technologies. She is able to fix just about anything and is adept at making drones/droids for various purposes. Leadership: She has had a fair bit of field experience and leading small parties to employ guerilla tactics. Her confident nature and intelligence tends to make people naturally defer to her stronger personality. Aggressive Diplomacy and Manipulation tactics: When interrogating certain targets, she uses a mixture of aggressive diplomacy and manipulation tactics to get what information she wants. She is not above hurting the target as long as it gets what she wants. Combat Training: From a young age she has been trained to handle a variety of weapons. She was also trained to utilise her engineering skills in combat to sabotage enemy equipment etc. She is an advanced hand to hand combatant, but she prefers a measure of distance to her opponents, using the range to her advantage with the help of her drones. Stealth: Although not as quick on her feet as her sister, she is still able to employ an element of stealth in combat. She usually prefers to get into a good position to deploy her 'toys' or as a means to gain access to essential equipment, or access terminals. Athletic/Gymnastics: Moira is not quite as flexible as her sister, but she is still very athletic and still capable of using advanced maneuvers she can use against an opponent or use to get away. This allows her to be fairly proficient at Parkour, giving her the ability to traverse urban spaces with ease. Kellina: Kellina is the closest person to her and they know each others habits as well as their own. Moira knows she has her back in any situation and gives Moira a drive to fight harder. Weaknesses: Kellina: Despite their proficient team work, Moira is still overly protective of Kellina. If it is seen that Kellina is a near death situation Moira's concentration is most likely to slip and will get herself into trouble. Combat: Despite being fairly proficient at hand to hand combat, if all technology was removed she feels weak and vulnerable. If others knew how to manipulate her, press her buttons, to make her vulnerable she is easily overcome. OCD and Controlling behaviour: Her OCD nature and subsequent controlling behaviour can lead her to be bad tempered and foul mouthed. If she is not in control of a situation she mostly likely will react negatively, which can put her at a disadvantage in combat. She will do anything to regain control and this often leads to brash actions that may do more harm than good. Although, she is able to keep her OCD tendencies in check when in public, within her own space it is a different matter. Anything found out of place is usually met with swift retribution. Ambitions (Hopes/Dreams): She hopes to live long enough to be rich and retire to a garden planet somewhere, far away from anyone else who may find her or her family. Hobbies and Interests: She has a love for technology and gadgets. In her spare time she loves nothing more than to tinker with her constructs and toys. She especially likes to make bombs and traps that help them both on the jobs. She has a knack for making various types of drones and droids that she also employs in the field or as assistants on the ship. She enjoys reading, especially Tech Journals and various engineering papers. Sexual Orientation: Hetero-sexual Turn ons: Moira has not the same confidence in sex as her sister, but like any normal person she does enjoy it. She likes being talked dirty too and someone describing exactly how they want to fuck Likes being touched and groped, but only if she has invited a person to do it She likes toys and is not below using her assistants, giving them programs allowing them to give sexual pleasure She likes a rough and ready sort, those who exude confidence to rival her own Secretly wants to be dominated (will push anyone she is interested in) Only likes rough sex if she is turned on enough Sex with other aliens Turn offs: Drunken sex or any other kind of inebriation like drugs Underage sex Anything involving bodily fluids, corpses or organs and blood Feet, she thinks feet are ugly and dirty Extra Information Family: Kellina Dansken Ship: Stella-Kelpie, a human fighting vessel Place of Residence: quarters on the Stella-Kelpie Pet: none Additional information: All their weaponry and tech is mostly crafted by Moira herself, who refuses to buy full tech. Preferring instead to buy parts and make something herself that she knows the ins and outs of, and knows she can rely on it in a fight. History Awards/Commendations: None Criminal Record: She has been arrested for assault on multiple occasions, damage to public property and attempts to hack vital systems on various stations. All resulted in hefty fines and limited prison sentences. Medical Record: OCD Bio: Moira is the oldest of two sisters that were born to her parents, Michael and Cathy Dansken. While human, she was born in the Science Colony that her parents lived and worked in. The Kilsyth Colony was in the Glamis System, in the Andromeda Galaxy. The Star System was a Binary Star System with two type M stars, Glamis A and Glamis B. There were four rocky planets, and five gas giants. The largest Gas Giant was a planet named Alyth. It was a beautiful purple in colour and is three times the size of Jupiter. Alyth has several moons orbiting it, with one being an Earth-like Moon. This is where the Kilsyth Colony was located, and where Moira grew up with her younger sister, Kellina. When she was young, Moira showed a lot of promise. Despite being a quiet child, she was confident, very intelligent and very curious. Her mother, Cathy, was one of the researchers that was researching a strange, heavy metal that was discovered on the planet. Her father, Michael, was a ship mechanic. Ships were vital to bringing in resources as well as moving people around the Moon. Both Kellina and Moira were fascinated with the ships that came to their fathers workyard for him to fix. While Moira was more interested in playing with the actual machinery, Kellina was more interested in the whole ship. One of Moira's fondest memories was the time her father help complete her first fully functioning drone. Her father had patiently taught her despite her abundant questions and thirst to know everything from how the mechanical servos worked to the programming the drone itself. She remembers the elation she felt when it had finally completed and it flew for the first time. Since then, she would make all sorts of drones to play with, but no other children were allowed to play with them except her sister. Despite the promise that the sisters showed, their life was fated not to be happy. When Moira was 8 years of age and Kellina was 4, the colony was invaded by a species that lived in a neighbouring system. They were a lizard-like species that seemed hell bent on killing everyone. No one knew what their name was, but they later became known as the Malum. Due to the low level of technology that the Colony had, the Malum sent in an invading force to go in and take everyone out so that they could claim the Moon for themselves. At the time the invasion started, Kellina and Moira were at home with their parents eating dinner. As the screams and shouts started, a booming alarm blasted across the entire colony. Their parents grabbed both children, who had little clue as to what was happening, before shutting them in a small cupboard. Frightened, they clung to each other as they heard their parents shouting to each other. Explosions sounded outside of their home, as well as shouts, screams and the sounds of weapons firing. The frightening sounds only served to get closer to their home. The two girls, still curious despite their fear, peered out through the gap of the cupboard to watch what was going on. They saw their parents using the window as a shield as they fired some kind of weapon outside. Suddenly, one of the walls had blasted inwards, showering everything inside the once neat home, with dust and debris. One alien, a huge creature with dark green scales malevolent white eyes stepped into the room. With a casual flick, he fired his weapon, killing their parents. They didn’t even have time to react to his presence before he mercilessly killed them. The two girls drew back, more frightened than before. Kellina started to cry, but Moira tried her best to comfort her younger sister, whispering for her to be quiet. Kellina, still upset, still obeyed her older sister. The Malum prowled around the room, his breathing heavy as he seemed to be looking around, clearly after any survivors. He came near the cupboard where the two young girls were hiding. He seemed to pick up their scent, as he began to reach out to rip open the cupboard, but another alien called him in a harsh, thick language. The soldier glared at the cupboard before turning and leaving. The two girls were left for hours as the battle raged on around them, too frightened to move from where they were hiding despite almost being discovered. Unknown to them, despite the initial advantage of the aliens surprise, the humans were more armed than they had anticipated, and had managed to drive them off. In the dead of night, roughly six hours after the battle had started, search teams went out to look for survivors. Kellina had fallen asleep in her sister's arms, but Moira had remained awake the entire time. She was unable to sleep for the screams and the sound of weapons fire. She feared if she did, then the aliens would find them. They were discovered by one of their neighbours, who found the body of their parents before falling for the girls. When Moira responded, he opened the cupboard to find the pair. He took the two of them and returned to the main camp where the two were fed before being put to bed. Unfortunately for the Colony, the invaders were persistent on taking over the Moon and removing the local population. It was not long before they regrouped and attacked the Colonists again. This turned into a war that lasted years, with heavy losses on both sides. The invading aliens were only relying on ground forces, so they were not able to make as much progress killing the colonists as they had originally hoped. The colonists moved underground, using some of their research facilities to shield people from the hostile forces. They were also able to change some of the labs to grow their own food, to help feed the surviving population. With being so young, Moira was unable to help, but she was young enough for them to begin teaching her. She received weapons and combat training, and they saw her engineering potential, so she was trained further in this field. They saw her natural talent for making drones and repairing weapons, and took advantage of this skill. She occasionally saw her sister, Kellina, in between her training and the duties that she had. Moira took advantage of every moment they had together, feeling almost incomplete without her sister. But both of them were trying to help the colony survive. When Moira was 14, she was involved in a mission that went afoul. The goal was to sabotage a communication's tower set up, by the Malum, in one of the colonies major cities. Yet when they got there the Malum were waiting and decimated the unit. It turned out that one of the units members, one of Moira's friends, had been captured by the Malum several months before, then released a couple of weeks later. Yet no one questioned the suspicious circumstance and yet Moira sensed there was something not quite right with him. They had been working as an informant for the Malum ever since and sent the specifics of the mission on to the enemy. Moira had been the sole survivor of the unit, but had managed to capture the traitor. Holding friend at gunpoint, she was ordered to bring him in. Yet, despite their friendship, all she could see were the faces of her dead parents who had given their lives for the colony and then she saw her sister's smiling face. She was then overcome with a deep and inexplicable rage. Yet, in a sudden moment of clarity a religious quote sprung into her mind. “Be fearful all who be unbelieving, abominable, murderer, whoremongers and all liars, for I bear the will of God. All shall be afraid; for I beareth the sword yet not in vain: For I, in the name of the Lord, am a revenger upon he who doeth evil. And I will execute upon them with furious vengeance and terrible rage; and they will know that I am the will of the Lord. Ye shall burneth within the fire and brimstone lakes of hell: which is second only to death! Habbakuk, 2:22 Motherfucker.” her friend smiled grimly and did not stop Moira when she pulled the trigger and blew his brains out. After, which, all of her rage left her, leaving her feeling mentally still and yet oddly satisfied. At that moment she was convinced that she had performed the will of God and returned to the barracks to face a hearing, but showed no remorse for what she had done. She was confident that her actions were justified and accepted her punishment. Ever since, the incident she refused to make close friends and became quite ruthless in combat. When Moira turned 22, help finally came and many of the colonists were finally evacuated. With what compensation money both sisters received, they decided to pool the money and buy a ship, then additional equipment with what was left. They further decided to use their skills as bounty hunters, as Moira was inspired the quote that she remembered all those years before. Ever since they made their money through bounty hunting.

An oasis amongst the treacherous waters, harsh deserts, and, previously, high crime rate, that the Orre region is known for. Ever since Team Rocket had attempted a hostile takeover of the Kanto region in the mid-nineties, only to be thwarted by a heroic 10-year-old, other criminal organizations followed suit(again, only to be stopped by children.). Despite the chaos, however, some places seemed untouched. Realgam Tower was one of those places. The giant, pearl-white spire climbed so high as to appear to pierce the heavens. Situated atop this massive structure was a grand battlefield, which had played host to several amazing battles in the past. Our story begins with the tail end of such a battle. A lone Pikachu darted around the pristine battlefield, attempting to evade the 2 Pokémon pursuing it. They were an Espeon and an Umbreon, and, try as they might, they simply weren't quick enough to catch up to the yellow blur. However, the Pikachu was clearly beginning to tire, and her expression was one of fear as she gazed worriedly into the eyes of her trainers. One was a boy wearing cat ears atop a head of messy black hair. The other was a girl with long, blonde hair, wearing oval frame, jet-black glasses. Both of them were dressed very formally, considering the occasion. Apparently, neither one was nearly as worried as their Pikachu was, which was evidenced when one of them, the girl, spoke up. "It's time to finish this; Wolfie! Use Discharge!" She spoke with a distinct British accent. As if she were waiting for her trainer to say that all along, the Pikachu turned around, coming face to face with her opponents. "Piiiiiiiiiiii...kaaaaaaaaa...CHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!" Sparks flew from the yellow mouse's blood red cheeks, followed quickly by a blinding flash, which spread across nearly the entirety of the battlefield. Luckily, the trainers, as well as the countless audience members, were kept safe via special barriers. The Pikachu's attackers, however, weren't so lucky; their trainers watched in horror as the 2 Pokémon were engulfed in the flash. When the bright light faded, the Espeon and Umbreon were sprawled out on the cold stadium floor, unconscious, with parts of their fur charred. A referee dashed onto the battlefield and waved a red flag towards the trainers of the unconscious duo. "Espeon and Umbreon are unable to battle! Wolfie the Pikachu is the winner! Victory goes to the challengers!" A deafening roar of applause and cheering erupted from the audience. The victorious team ran out onto the middle of the battlefield and raised their fists in joy, as the haunting chorus of Lacuna Coil's "Our Truth" rang out from large speakers strategically placed throughout the stadium. Soon, the booming voice of an announcer added to the noise. "Here are your winners, and the new Orre League tag team champions, the team of Neptune and Wolfie; Teeeeeeeeam... ESPUUUUUUSSSSSSS!!!!!!" The announcer's voice faded out, only to be replaced by that of a commentator. "I don't believe it! Team Espus did it! You saw it right here, folks; Team Espus are the new champions, and what better way to end the battle than with such an amazing comeback. Nobody, it seems, can stop that Pikachu!" The cheering, as well as the blaring of Our Truth, continued for about a minute, before the winners left the battlefield with a pair of shining golden badges. Eventually, though, the roar of applause died down, and the audience was quiet. The booming voice of the unseen announcer cut through the relative silence. "And, now, as a special treat, we have one final match for you today, between 2 Hall Of Famers! Everyone, sit back and enjoy as we introduce the competitors!" Some of the audience members looked around at each other, wondering who could possibly be competing. After all, the Hall Of Fame contains a good number of names, each with astonishing prowess and skill. They weren't kept in suspense for much longer, though; a loud *BANG!* made several spectators jump, and several others cheer wildly. The aforementioned noise was accompanied, and caused, by an explosion of fire that came from one of the entrances used by the competitors. At the same moment, a punk rock style cover version of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" began to play. A male, who looked to be in his very early 20s, entered the stadium. He had a crew cut, but what little hair he did have was chocolate brown, a near perfect match for his eyes. As for his clothing, he wore a black t-shirt with the logo of the rock band AC/DC emblazoned on it, accompanied by camoflage shorts and black sneakers. "Introducing first," the announcer began, "from Mauville City, Hoenn! He is the current Hoenn League champion, and a Hall Of Famer! Kevin Houghtaling(pronounced "ho-TAH-ling.")!" As Kevin neared the actual battlefield, it became obvious that he was holding a microphone "Uh-oh," the commentator spoke up. "It looks like Houghtaling's got something to say!" Sure enough, Kevin walked over to the center of the battlefield and began putting the microphone to good use. "Calm down, everyone! Holy shit; I'm gonna be here a while!" The raucous cheering died down, and Kevin began to laugh. "Well, well, well! It's been a while; hasn't it, Orre?" This was met with a bit more applause. "Now, let me be perfectly honest. I love this place(more applause.), but it wasn't my idea to come here; you see, a good friend of mine convinced me. He got me to realize that, despite everything you've seen from us, we haven't gone up against each other in front of an audience. Well, no more! Ladies and gentlemen, give a warm welcome to my opponent!" Again, the audience fell quiet, and, again, it didn't last long. Moments later, 2 booming notes, which sounded like an electric guitar trying to sing, blared from the speakers, signalling the beginning of It's My Life by Bon Jovi, and making a good number of audience members jump. A short interlude later, another pair of deep warbles filled the stadium. Another short interlude was followed by one more blast of sound, this one accompanied by the vocals kicking in. Each one of the first 4 "talk box" notes were punctuated by the detonation of small fireworks. Finally, on the 5th booming note, several fountain-style fireworks went off, sending bright pink sparks into the air. With that, another boy entered the stadium. Judging from his appearance, though, one may well have mistaken him for a girl. His appearance was very much the antithesis of Kevin's. The boy's hair fluttered all the way down to his back, a mass of golden blonde strands. He wore a noticeable amount of makeup, including shimmering pink nail polish and matching eye shadow. His clothing consisted of a white lab coat over a red t-shirt, as well as khaki shorts and white sneakers. Around his neck, he wore a long, beautiful fur scarf, white as snow, and soft and fluffy as can be. "Introducing his opponent," the announcer said. "From Goldenrod City, Johto, he is a former Gym Leader, and a former Johto League champion,... Doctor Tyler Miller!" When Kevin had entered, he kept his gaze straight ahead, for the most part. Tyler, however, was blowing kisses to the crowd. Despite this, some of the audience members clearly didn't want to have him there. Some people held up signs with such hurtful things as "fur is murder," "go home, faggot," "Arceus hates fags," and even "Leviticus 18:22," written on them. Tyler paid them no mind as he kept walking. Truth be told, he had much bigger things to worry about than hecklers. He wasn't fighting for himself, nor was he fighting for the audience. He was fighting for a dear friend. Kevin, as well as the audience, obviously didn't know this, but this battle was almost literally a matter of life and death. Rather than addressing the audience, as Kevin did, Tyler simply took his place at the edge of the boundaries on the field, ready to begin. At least, that's what it seemed like to the crowd; in his mind, as much as he loved the roar of the crowd, Tyler wanted almost nothing more than to be back home. He wanted to be at the side of his friend. Seconds later, the same referee from earlier returned to the field, with a microphone. "The following is a standard knockout match between Doctor Tyler Miller and Kevin Houghtaling. Despite Kevin being the Hoenn League champion, both combatants have decided not to put the title on the line. Both competitors will use 6 Pokémon, and the match will end when all Pokémon on either side are rendered unable to battle. Trainers! Are you ready?!" Tyler and Kevin both nodded, nearly in unison. "Send out your Pokémon, and let the battle begin!" Immediately, the 2 veteran trainers grabbed 1 Pokéball each from their belts. "Serperior! You're up first!" "Pidgeot! I choose you!" 2 bursts of light sprayed forth from both Pokéballs, then materialized into the aforementioned Pokémon. "This is unprecedented!" the commentator pointed out. "What we are bearing witness to is nothing short of a clash of titans!" As he spoke, Pidgeot and Serperior fought on. The fight didn't last long, though; as powerful and well-trained as Kevin's Serperior was, Pidgeot had a type advantage, not to mention higher mobility. She swooped down suddenly, knocking out Serperior rather handily with a Brave Bird attack. The unlucky Serperior simply didn't stand a chance. "Serperior is unable to battle!" the referee declared. Several audience members cheered, while the hecklers from before booed and hissed. "A great start for Tyler, making short work of Serperior!" the commentator noted. "What Pokémon will Kevin choose to go head to head with Pidgeot's lightning speed?" Kevin scowled as he looked at the sprawling, serpentine body of his now-unconscious Serperior. "You're good, Ty," he admitted, returning Serperior to his Pokéball via the ubiquitous red beam seen in the Pokémon anime. "We've only just begun to play with you, though." "Give it up!" Tyler warns. "I know all of your tricks!" Kevin, far from being intimidated, actually laughed. "That may be true, my friend, but I know yours, too. And believe me(he primed another Pokéball as he said this.), your fun ends here! Hydreigon! Clip that bird's wings!" What emerged from Kevin's second Pokéball, even as far as Hydreigon go, was nothing short of monstrous. Even a few audience members cowered before the demonic hydra. "And Kevin brings out Hydreigon!" the commentator said. "A force to be reckoned with, for sure! I think that poor Pidgeot may be outmatched!" "Listen to the man," Kevin taunted, but Tyler seemed unfazed. When his majestic Pidgeot turned to face him, he smirked. "We planned for this; remember what we talked about." This just made Kevin laugh. "As if any plan of yours could make a difference! Hydreigon! Blast that giant pest out of the sky with a Hyper Beam!" Hydreigon reared back, then shot a golden beam from its center mouth. Tyler's Pidgeot nimbly dodged with a swift, steep climb, then dove just as steeply, heading straight for her opponent. Hydreigon was hit point-blank with a Brave Bird attack, but seemed only to take almost a negligible amount of damage before firing another Hyper Beam as Pidgeot circled around him for another attack. She was hit dead on, letting out a squawk of anguish before falling to the stadium floor, defeated. "Pidgeot is unable to battle!" "Ooh, and Pidgeot makes a crash landing!" the commentator half-joked, over the roar of the crowd. "Not to mention, Hydreigon looks almost unfazed by the same attack that took out Serperior! Doctor Miller is gonna have to step his game up if he doesn't want that behemoth to rip his team apart." "So much for your plan!" Kevin taunted, as Tyler recalled Pidgeot in the same way that Kevin recalled Serperior. "Ready to give up?" "Not a chance!" Tyler scoffed, readying another Pokéball. "You fell right into my trap! Butterfree, show him how it's done!" Kevin, not to mention a good portion of the audience, started laughing as Butterfree emerged from her Pokéball, ready to fight. "A Butterfree?!" the commentator asked in disbelief. "What could Tyler be thinking?" "Are you out of your mind?!" Kevin exclaimed. "Arceus dammit, Ty! I thought you were smarter than this!" "I thought you were, too," Tyler retorted, a smirk creeping across his face, "but people make mistakes. Butterfree, use Quiver Dance!" With a trill, Butterfree shot up into the air and began a graceful, twirling midair dance. The audience oohed and ahhed at her agility and grace. Suddenly, though, she fluttered over to Hydreigon and continued her lovely dance, while circling around him. "I... I don't believe it!" the commentator said in disbelief. "Butterfree is... She's taunting Hydreigon! Does she have some sort of death wish?!" "She must," Kevin answered under his breath. "Swat that annoying bug, Hydreigon! Dragon Claw!" Hydreigon stayed put, and Butterfree unharmed. "What the Hell is going on?! I said 'Dragon Claw!'" Kevin's frustration served to amuse Tyler, who started giggling. "You don't get it; do you? You used Hyper Beam! Hydreigon used up a lot of energy; he's tired!" A few seconds passed before Kevin spoke again. "FUUUUUUCK!!!!!!" "There you go!" Tyler said in a voice dripping with false praise. "You're smarter than I give you credit for! Now, Butterfree! Silver Wind!" Butterfree flew away from Hydreigon and began flapping her wings at high speed. Seconds later a cloud of glittering silver dust had been kicked up, which Butterfree's wingbeats sent straight towards Hydreigon. The dust enveloped him, scraping away at his tough hide. He howled and roared in agony before falling over, hitting the stadium floor with a sickening *THUD!!*. Even the referee didn't quite believe what had just happened. "Hydreigon is... i-is unable to battle!" "I don't believe it!" the commentator shouted. "Butterfree has slain the dragon! She toppled Hydreigon with a beautiful Silver Wind! Fighting like that is how Tyler became the champion back in Johto!" The crowd, meanwhile, was in hysterics; even some of the rude hecklers who wanted Tyler gone earlier were cheering for him after bearing witness to his marvelous skills. Kevin snarled as he recalled Hydreigon, then immediately readied another Pokéball. "Alright, Tyler; even I have to admit, that was pretty damn good. Don't think for a second you're gonna win this, though. No matter how well your Pokémon are trained, they're still cute and cuddly. Hear this: we're going to tear you apart! Carracosta! I choose you!" For the most part, the rest of the battle was straightforward. As it turned out, Tyler and Kevin were more or less evenly matched; they practically took turns losing Pokémon. Butterfree tried another Silver Wind, but it barely left a scratch on Carracosta's shell. Even worse, that left Butterfree open, and within striking distance. One Stone Edge from Carracosta put her away in no time; she was smashed into the stadium floor. Tyler sent out a Bellossom to replace her. Carracosta was no match for Bellossom's superior agility, and was quickly felled by a gorgeous Petal Dance. Kevin's next Pokémon, however, was a Gardevoir, who had no trouble getting rid of Bellossom, brutally slamming her into one of the barriers around the stage with a powerful Psychic attack. She soon met her match, though, when she couldn't keep up with Tyler's Furret, subsequently getting hit with an Iron Tail. Kevin brought out a Lopunny to take on Furret, which she did with aplomb. Furret attempted a Slash, but Lopunny caught her in midair with a devastating High Jump Kick. A horrifying cracking noise filled the stadium before Furret hit the stadium floor hard and lost consciousness. Tyler was getting desperate to win by this point. His next Pokémon was a Goodra. Lopunny, being quicker, was able to deal significant damage with another High Jump Kick, but, when she tried to do a 3rd one, she missed and fell over, injuring herself and allowing Goodra to finish her off with a Dragon Pulse. That brought Kevin down to his last Pokémon; a Lucario. Victory was within Tyler's grasp. "I can't believe you've brought me to this, Ty!" Kevin growled. "Dude, I was a champion!" Tyler reminded him. Kevin scoffed. "Well, you're still not getting the best of me! Lucario! Use Extreme Speed!" What happened next went by so quickly, Goodra didn't even have time to react, let alone defend herself. In an instant, Lucario was assaulting her with a flurry of kicks and punches. Normally, Goodra would've been able to withstand such an attack. As weakened as she was from the same attack that likely broke several of Furret's bones, however, it proved to be too much for her to handle. One final blindingly-fast blow knocked her out cold, and she hit the floor, making a squelching noise as she lay limp, her slimy body glistening in the sunlight. "Goodra is unable to battle!" Now, Tyler had just 1 more Pokémon left. One more chance at victory. As he recalled Goodra, he took a deep breath. "Alright, Kevin; this is it! This is for all of the marbles!" "Doctor Miller is absolutely right!" the commentator interjected. "With only a single Pokémon left on each team, who's gonna win this match is anyone's guess!" Tyler looked up at the sky, as if he were praying. "It's up to you now; do your best. I don't wanna go back to her as a loser." He primed his final Pokéball. "Sylveon! It's all you!" As the lovely, feminine Sylveon emerged from her Pokéball, the audience was on the edge of their seats. For good reason, too; the entire match had been just like the commentator had said; a clash of titans. Kevin Houghtaling, who had taken on the entire Winstrate family, and won without having a single one of his Pokémon get defeated. Tyler Miller, who took not just the Johto region, but the world, by storm, with his defeat of one of the strongest trainers to ever live; Ethan Gold. Each of them was a legend in their own right(even though Tyler was dethroned by his own daughter.), and there they were, atop Realgam Tower, in front of a screaming audience, going at it head-to-head. "This is it! It all comes down to this! Kevin Houghtaling, who put an entire family to rout with nothing but shut-outs, or Doctor Miller, who brought down a champion who was considered to be the strongest trainer ever to hail from Johto! Raw cunning and brutality versus beauty, agility, and surgical precision! Which one of these legendary trainers will come out on top?!" Whereas Kevin couldn't hold back a smirk and a chuckle, Tyler was quite stoic. In reality, he was so deep in thought, he could barely pay attention to the gushing commentator. His fame. His often-shown(on newscasts and in documentaries.) victory against Ethan. None of it mattered to him at the moment. Earlier, when he raised his head to the sky, he wasn't praying, but he may as well have been. The friend he was fighting for was not improving, despite Tyler putting his vast repertoire of medical knowledge to use. Tyler wasn't one for giving up, but he had been about to do so and leave his friend to the mercy of Arceus, before someone close to him revealed that she could help, but that she would only do so if Tyler faced off against Kevin, and beat him. As an added stipulation, under no circumstances was Kevin, or any of his Pokémon, to hold back. This prevented Tyler from revealing his motives to Kevin, who, despite his harsh demeanor, would no doubt have instructed his Pokemon to allow Tyler to win for the greater good. Whether the hyper-feminine Sylveon or the battle-hardened Lucario emerged victorious would decide the fate of Tyler's dear friend, which is why, as Tyler took a deep breath, he knew he had to put his trust in his Sylveon, and believe that she could win. After another deep breath, Tyler made his decision. "Sylveon! Hyper Beam! You need to bring that Lucario down quickly!" Sylveon obeyed and, following a vocalization in her fluttery, sweet voice, she reared her head back and opened her mouth wide. A shining, golden orb of light began to form in her mouth. It's a curious truth that Hyper Beam, one of the most powerful attacks in the Pokémon world, manifests as a harsh, golden light. For some Pokémon, it can be a blinding white, or a menacing scarlet, but it's usually a dazzling gold. In Sylveon's case, it was no different. As she lowered her head to face Lucario, the same golden light was released as a large beam, which struck Lucario dead-on, hurling him backwards and causing him to collide forcefully with one of the barriers. "Such power from such an adorable Pokemon!" the commentator cried out. "Ladies and gentlemen, that may have been the end! A point-blank hit from a Hyper Beam; how could Lucario be expected to - OH, DEAR ARCEUS!!!!" The commentator's voice. Horrified gasps from the audience. Tyler's cry of "NOOOO!!!!" A bloodcurdling scream. They all filled the stadium at once. Sylveon lay on her side, her completely blue eyes growing dull and lifeless. It wasn't exactly hard to see why. Lucario was kneeling beside her, one of his spiked paws pressed against the fur of her stomach. He had run up to her and stabbed her while the Hyper Beam explosion was settling. Worse yet, as he pulled back and retracted the spike, more than blood came out; a sickly-looking foam began to bubble up from the entry wound. Lucario had defeated Sylveon with Poison Jab. "Sylveon is unable to battle! Lucario wins! Victory goes to Kevin Houghtaling!" The speed at which Tyler ran to his fallen Sylveon was impressive, to say the least. "Sylveon? Sylveon?!" he cried out, audible, thanks to the chorus of Kevin's entrance theme now playing, only to himself and the fallen creature, whom he now held in his arms. "Sylveon; speak to me!" She opened her mouth, but she didn't speak. She couldn't; instead, she let out a shuddering, pained gasp before falling limp in Tyler's arms. After recalling her, Tyler took off at a full sprint, heading backstage. It was a few minutes before Kevin was able to break away from the crowd, by which point Tyler was tending to Sylveon and comforting her with assurances of "it's gonna be alright," "don't worry," and "it's not as bad as it looks(this, of course, was a blatant lie, but Tyler was making definite progress at treating the wounds, and, as such, saw no reason to frighten her.)," while stroking her cheek with his free hand. He was spraying some amber liquid from a spray bottle straight onto the wound with his other hand when he heard a voice from behind him. "Typical; treating your Pokémon like babies. No wonder you couldn't beat me. While you're at it, why don't you just give her a fucking lollipop?!" "Fucking asshole," Tyler swore under his breath. "What was that?" Kevin demanded. "You fucking asshole!!" Tyler bellowed, standing up and turning to face him at the same time. "How dare you lecture me about raising my Pokémon?! Your Lucario almost killed my Sylveon! Not to mention, Furret's gonna be recovering for weeks! She has broken bones from when your Lopunny kicked her!" "It's not my fault," Kevin said coolly, "that your Pokémon are frail. Plus, I didn't say your Pokémon are weak; just that you're coddling them." "I want them to be happy," Tyler said defensively, as he turned around, knelt down, and went back to administering the amber-colored medicine to his Sylveon. "There's more to Pokémon training than teaching them to fight; Pokémon need love and affection, just like we do." To illustrate his point, he stroked Sylveon's cheek with his free hand again, which earned him a weak smile and a lick from his pink-furred friend. "Love and affection," Kevin repeated, finding himself unable to hold back a sly grin as he dropped his tough-guy persona in favor of his true personality. "Something you and Shaymin must know a lot about!" Tyler stopped cold. He didn't even turn around as he continued talking. "Sh-Shaymin... a-and I? What're you talking about? We're just friends!" Kevin laughed heartily. "You're not fooling anybody! I know it, Sakura(Kevin's daughter and wife.) knows it, she knows it, and I'd be worried if you didn't know it, too." "What're you talking about?!" Tyler repeated. Kevin smacked himself in the face with his right hand out of annoyance. "Mew Christ; do I have to spell it out for you?! Shaymin. Wants. You. She wants you bad. What's more, I'm pretty sure she got what she wants." In the face of such an absurd argument, Tyler couldn't help but laugh. It didn't last long, though, before his voice became almost monotone. "I appreciate the laugh, dude, but you aren't even close." "Like Hell I'm not!" Kevin argued. "How stupid do you think I am?" Tyler didn't trust himself to answer, so he kept quiet while Kevin continued his rant. "You brought her from The Hall Of Origin(the ethereal home of most of the Legendary Pokémon.) to live with you, and you've spent every night in bed with her for the past week! Don't think for a second that I don't know what you're doing with her! Are you just cuddling, or are you taking it further? Pruning her bush? Stopping to smell the roses? Planting seeds in her garden? Plowing the field? Tapping her for syrup(Tyler had to use a great deal of willpower not to laugh at that joke, as horrid as the implications of it would be, considering what the real situation was.)?" In the few seconds of awkward silence that followed, Tyler struggled to fight back an extremely powerful desire to slap Kevin across the face. Instead, he found himself revealing the truth in a terse, annoyed growl. "Shaymin's dying." *Author's Note* Well, there it is! Chapter 1! What do you think? Should I keep going? By the way, I had originally planned to call this chapter "Sore Loser," but I realized at the last minute that it just didn't sound right. Also, I decided on Realgam Tower as the starting location because, if Tyler and Kevin fought at the Indigo Plateau, Tyler would be favored by the audience. I didn't want that to happen. Oh, by the way, this is Realgam Tower. http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Realgam_Tower Kevin's entrance theme, by the way, is Smooth Criminal by Alien Ant Farm. Tyler's, obviously, is It's My Life by Bon Jovi, but I had considered several songs before settling on that one, including: Connect by ClariS(Anime fans know this as the theme for Puella Magi Madoka Magica.) Modern Doctor Who theme Bad Case Of Loving You by Robert Palmer Theme from Trauma Center: Second Opinion Kamikaze by Owl City Ho-Oh's theme from HeartGold, SoulSilver, and Omega Ruby. Fight 'Em Till You Can't by Anthrax(careful looking this one up; it has EAS tones in it.) This Is Only A Test by Pennywise Seven Rings In Hand by Crush 40(cover.) Bring It On by Alvin And The Chipmunks(be thankful I didn't choose this.) And a few others. Thanks, Neptune and Wolfie, for having enough confidence in me to give me permission to include them as characters, as well as Neptune, specifically, for being my beta reader. That means a lot to me. Well, don't be shy! Tell me what you think, everyone! Be honest, though, even if the truth hurts.
