Two men wound their way through the dilapidated buildings. If it seemed random, then they were doing their job. One lead while the other checked for shadows, lawmen, busybodies. This was a dance with which both were familiar, though never with each other before this night. Finally, with relief, the thinner of the two men knocked on the door to one such unremarkable door of one such unremarkable building.

“Everything is going to be okay,” the thinner man reassured his muscular companion. “Have I steered you wrong yet?” “No.” “Exactly. I helped you figure the ins and outs of the VA, didn’t I? I got you, my man.”

A slide opened revealing a pair of eyes, inspecting the two men outside the door.

“Grey Norton, returning customer. I brought a new guest, to be named inside.”

The door unlatched and they were allowed in, taken into a side room and sat down with a light beverage. “Well kid, go ahead and give them your name.”

“Hello, ma’am. I’m Trey Brosier. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
