Since the mention of Bluebeard's Bride I've been on a bit of a PbtA binge. There's a lot of fun ideas there, but I came across one focused on teenage monster drama. Has anyone heard about this? Would anyone be interested in playing a vampire, ghost, or werewolf as they tackle highschool?

"Right, fuck. I might need that lump of metal to swat down some bugs and zombies." Grom jogged out to the porch to collect his hammer. Having no time for the servants to open the door he tackled it open, retrieving the maul he'd planted upside down by the door. Resting it on his shoulder he walked back to the room, about to drop his hammer on the floor until he felt Inoria's glare, choosing instead to lower it gently on the floor. "I've found the best way to ward off insects is by smushing the with a blunt weapon. You should get one of those!" Grom added, thinking mostly about the kind of insects you'd find in caverns such a firebeetles and giant ants.
-
I'm still tweaking his personality, but I do want him be a bit of a contrast to Inoria. Hopefully they can learn something from eachother.
-
He had a vague sense that his wording had been a tab blunt so he added: "I won't fail the mission and let Syndra die, I'm just asking if there's enough time to follow leads to strengthen our fighting abilities. You know, weapon and magics. There'll be ruins, no? So I'm sure there're plenty of goodies to be found." Grom was already getting excited and a little impatient. He was pacing back and forth while processing what had just been said. In his mind, this job would be bashing through skeletons in a forest and then destroy some magical thing, a simple straightforward and fun task. "I'm sure we'll find whatever we need once we get there. No one better than the locals to help figure out how to dress. And we don't got much time anyways. So lets go!" He was practically air boxing, almost as if he was expecting to throw hands as soon as they arrived.

Assets made from pp are d6s by default. If say there some kinda narrative risk to receive the harpoon you can make it a test to receive. In which case it gets the same value as the effect die.
-
I haven't had time to check, but I believe unless the item has some kinda narrative importance. It doesn't get a dice value. You build a dice pool using your attributes as normal.
-
Grom strokes his beard, trying to make sense of these maps, he wasn't exactly very well learned in the matter. He turned to Syndra, putting the now empty bottle of wine on the table. "So it's draining you, I assume you'd like we destroy the thing before you pass, or do you believe it'll return your soul back to you afterwards and everything is fine? I'm asking as we might get side tracked. You know with treasure and monsters and such." (Grom has forgotten about his hammer and is completely ready to leave it behind.)
-
Grom drank happily from his flask. Of course he shared with his companions. He was listening, but there were lots he didn't understand. "The scars I get from this adventure shall be enough payment. I can smash a box of souls in Chult, how did you even get sick from it if you don't even know where it is?" He took another deep sip from the bottle as he started wandering to the maps, looking over each of them.
-
Grom stepped into the room, the dwarf in him took in his surroundings before noticing the woman. As she mentioned wine Grom mumbled loudly to himself: "Don't mind if I do." As he waddled over to the table to grab a flask. He chuckled to himself as he examined the bottle; He loved this human-made stuff. It was so sweet, almost like a dessert. He bit the cork, pulling it out with a jerk before spitting it out like a bullet. He took a sip of the wine, taking a moment to experience the wine. Before looking at the elf who clearly seems to know the customs of this place to give him a signal of what to do. (Grom'll wait to sit until the rest are seated.)

We can run stress as injury, which means once he reaches d12 injury he's taken out. You do a d8, so in theory 2 more of those should take him out.
-
He's going to use his lab and his mutation, and borrow some favour from the wizard. He does pretty poorly, no 1s though, but his best result is a 9 with an effect of d10. Which means you succeed So you give him a d8 of stress, because that's your optimal effect die, either wounds, arousal, or maybe rage. Either way narrate how you succeed and we'll determine what kind of stress you give him.

No worries, we'll assume your character is following the group. So feel free to join any scene whenever you're ready.

Would still like to get something like this started. -
Grom looks at Inoria with a blank expression. He takes a moment before his attention returns to his hammer. "I don't think I'll need this against someone weak to daylight and yelling." He releases the handle of his maul, letting it drop to the ground right outside the entrance. He turns to face the maid and announces: "Lady Syndra can compensate a new hammer if someone nicks this one." With a lower voice he adds: "This one's shit anyways" (Grom will enter)
-
Grom was happy that the others took the lead here. He wasn't quite sure where to even start looking for this lady. He'd assume the building was some kind of decoration and not a home given how fancy it looked, and not particularly ready for an attack. Grom wiped the juice off on his pants leaving sticky syrup stuck to his hands. He then grabbed his maul, dragging it across the stone road seemingly ignorant to the scraping sound it produced. "Good food and ale are both great. It'll be rare to find out in the wild. I'll join."
-
I'm ready to meet Syndra.
-
If we're doing turns then @DreamsnThings should be up next. @eclipse1oo can also join the scene however they see fit.

Grom knew better than most than when things got the most dire, a friend of the divine was an important friend to have. Most priests he'd met where dwarven warriors or monstrous heretics he knew they all tended to be capable of mending broken bones. He dug out a couple of coins that had found their way into his pocket. They were of various mints, yet all golden, and a couple of the fruits he'd pocketed from the garden. "i don't know Sune, I hope she accepts gifts. Have some priestess." He offered the gifts by placing them on his wide palms. He then turned to meet the eyes of Felaris, and he added: "You can have some too. The variety of this land excites me. You can call me Grom, it is short for Grom. If you're joining this Syndra person too, we can be friends."
-
You don't have to wait for me to reply. I'll get my posts in when I see an opportunity.

"You don't look like the wilderness type!" The dwarf butted in with an annoyed tone. Fruit juice dripping down his embarrasingly short beard. He scanned the elf carefully, an intense glare that commanded silence. And before either of them could muster the courage to response he added, to answer Inoria's concern and to assert his own position at this gathering. "Though you spritely folk know all the tricks to foreign wildlands." "I'm joining this expedition too. I was told there was a need for muscle, and that it was dangerous. I'm Grom." He took another bite of the fruit, juices squirting in every direction and Grom slurping in as much he could while looking at the strange hare creature in front of him. He knew of people capable of transforming into animals. He'd lost brothers to goblins wildshaped into giant spiders. Though this was different. "Cityfolk can really be anything." He commented in confusion, not really knowing where to cognitively put the harengon.

14 beats the difficulty so you succeed. Narrate how you break free.
-
Sure, temporary asset of a d8 then.
-
I don't understand how that is an asset? I believe you must spend a plot point to create an asset. Though I guess if you really want you can use multiple attempts as a d8 asset? Nevermind I just got it. You mean like escape experience!
-
At this point the alchemist is a monster even without any active elixir working on him, due to the large amount of mutations he has. Since you're not opposing the alchemist with this roll, you'll roll against the doom pool. A failure here would mean Finley still breaks free, but might be doused in some aphrodesiac or something. There might be an argument for a "bound" stress track, but we'll keep it simple for now. Difficulty of 13, effect of 4, with an opportunity. Both small or predator could help here, depending on how you narrate the escape.
