  1. The Luanarian word for "friendship" is clearly a proper name for the first planet discovered by a coalition of Human and Luanari explorers! But also maybe yes.
  2. Another metallic hiss drew the Luanari from her focus upon the controls, prompting her to sit up and turn within her seat. It was, as she had expected, the Captain! Of course just like she had been when she'd first entered the bridge his focus was on the various stations. Not wishing to distract him she faced out into the pitch black void of space and settled back into her chair, waiting with excitement for her very first order! Not that she would need to wait very long. He took notice of her only a few moments later. An apology. He had been focused elsewhere. But he was happy too that she was where she was! Also she was going to be jumping right into her duties. The console before her suddenly lit up with information as he explained her first task: a course correction! He had requested that she show him how Luanari completed the task, but this was a bit confusing to her as she was currently operating with Human control systems. She would, in fact, be showing him how Humans navigated a Human vessel! Of course it was entirely possible that there was some other context behind his words, but if there was she certainly hadn't caught it. "Yees Capteen!" Hands lifted up, her left gripping upon the flight stick while her right settled on the power throttle. Careful pressure was applied to both. She had been warned that Human controls could sometimes be more delicate, as Humans were in general much weaker. It was actually an advantage for them here, as they needn't worry so much about breaking their controls during tense situations. But then that was why only the best Luanari were allowed to pilot vessels! Or, at least, one of many reasons why. Probably not one of the higher ones either. In any case the vessel seemed to react accordingly! It began to shift gently in the proper direction, after all they had plenty of time with no need for sudden jerking maneuvers, and once it was on the correct heading she drew down the throttle back to the position it had been previously. A few buttons were pressed, the course recalibrated and the ship set into automatic controls. With that the heading had been adjusted! Her first act as a pilot aboard a Human vessel had been successfully completed! The little Luanari nearly bounced with excitement, expression lit up with a wide smile. I did it! I'm the first Luanari to pilot a Human ship! Oh this is very exciting! There are going to be so many firsts! Wait, am I the first one to consume Human food? Probably not, right? Gosh being an explorer is so neat! She turned her seat around finally to face the Human, making no attempt to conceal her joy while she processed the man's words. Human explorers were unlike Luanari explorers as they often named new places they found. This was different from her society as names would generally be chosen instead by whoever funded an exploratory mission. But now here she was being given the esteemed opportunity to name a planet! What do I name a planet? Oh gosh I forgot to think up names! Well okay, I guess I didn't expect it. Humans do things different. Okay, focus! Planet. Planet name. I don't really know much about it. Naming it after myself wouldn't feel right, even if it would be kind of cool. It could get confusing too while we are on it. Maybe a Luanari word? Yes, that probably works. No confusion there! But which to use? It should be mission appropriate, and also appropriate for Humans. For a solid minute the little pilot pondered over name ideas, her excited expression gradually shifting to one of intense focus. Eventually however it softened again, her smile returned, and she gave herself one final nod of approval. "Saex!" Friendship seemed like a proper word here. This was hopefully the beginning of a friendship not only between the Humans and Luanari, but also between her and her fellow crewmates! All would know that this planet represented the beginning of a new alliance! Perhaps a little optimistic, but still!
  3. If nobody else does then Xyvee could in a thread taking place after bridge stuff! She needs to meet her fellow security eventually!
  4. Maybe Xyvee needs to drag Ivy in when she gets a checkup. A distraction would help prevent sudden accidental dissections from the maybe not completely mentally sound doctor.
  5. I too am confused.
  6. The hospital. Wait, are they going to call me for a check-up? They wouldn't know what to look for, right? I'd just be naked in front of strangers! For a moment bright pink flashed across the Luanari's face while she studied a map of the ship mounted upon the wall. Then she remembered that she was already used to living in a dormitory with others. Well, mostly used to it. She still had those sorts of problems there too. In any case her sleeping situation probably wasn't going to change, just as her bathing situation hadn't changed. Dormitories. Probably. I wonder who I will be bunking with! Will we all share a room like X86? It will probably be something more primitive, right? What if we share beds? Oh, wait, here! This is it! As it turned out she hadn't been that far from the bridge. Ship sections had been one of her required study subjects. Sure, she could have waited to depart alongside Captain Draven, but she had elected to venture ahead so that she might learn her way around the ship, after all she wouldn't always be able to rely upon him guiding her about! Besides, she didn't want to bother him too much. Xyvee had to prove to the Humans that she was definitely worth bringing along! Heck, she was representing her entire species here! Metallic doors hissed softly as they slid open, allowing the petite creature entry into the ship's bridge. This too she had studied, but thankfully it actually appeared to be fairly similar to Luanari designs. Fewer seats, perhaps, but then primitive Human technology probably had less systems to control, or perhaps they simply didn't have multiple command consoles. Sure, a Luanari vessel's bridge command center might have seemed like a dangerous security flaw, but they had backups too, and those weren't centralized! It was just very useful to have the commander close to everything. She stepped about the deck, peeking around chairs in order to study the various stations. A few she could pick out. Communications. Sensors. Weapons, probably? The most obvious to her however was the pilot and co-pilot's seats. Just like a Luanari vessel. Having a backup pilot was very important even with artificial guidance systems. This was effectively her role aboard the ship. Well, that and security. Speaking of security, I should probably meet whoever else is assisting with that! With a soft huff the Luanari climbed up into the seat belonging to the co-pilot's position which, for the most part, was exactly the same as the pilot's seat. Her tail retracted further into her lower back, hips wiggling as she aimed to get herself comfortable. As it turned out the seat was not made for someone as small as she was, and so she leaned to the side and started to fiddle with the controls, hoping to make it comfortable enough for her to properly operate the vessel. It should go high enough, right? Oh, good! Sitting on a box would have been a little too embarrassing. Once her seat was properly adjusted Xyvee finally turned her attention to the controls. Hands gently brushed across the various flight sticks, throttles, and buttons. She was careful not to actually press anything. That was a mistake she'd made in her academy days that she was certainly not going to repeat here! A very embarrassing mistake. It's very similar. I should be able to handle this!
  7. Actually do we do bridge stuff in New Awakenings thread, or new thread?
  8. I suppose if one hasn't been put up by the morning then I shall post again in mission/bridge area!
  9. Suppose I could go ahead and post another one on the mission/bridge thread since we would go there for said bridge, huh?
  10. Oh yes I was waiting because I thought it was still continuing too!
  11. That's fine I can wait.
  12. True. Though Zyvee's orders are to the bridge.
  13. Real quiet huh.
  14. Clearly a ploy to change everyone's alarm clocks so that they wake up an hour later!
  15. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, for the captain of their merry group Xyvee had not taken notice of the man's somewhat obvious frustration with the Echo crew. Not that she had any part to play in that. Certainly not! A language barrier between two newly acquainted species was entirely forgiveable! Or so she would hope had she known that there was, in fact, an issue. Another torrent of words ran through one ear and out the other. Her brain, as genetically enhanced as it was, had not been specifically tailored for this sort of work. Things were lost. But she did understand that there was some discussion about the proper use of names, and something about warnings and muting things. Oh, and that word once again: Lassie! Also something designated Tamogatchi. It sounded very important. In the course of their discussions a cart was brought about by one of what she assumed to be the female Humans. It was easy to tell, for their chests appeared to bulge outwards far beyond what the males exhibited. Her own people had something similar, although they were but tiny bumps by comparison. Even the largest that she had ever seen only really filled out her own small palm. Humans were on another level entirely! But at least it made it easier to tell which was which. Regardless, the cart being pushed carried a number of Human delicacies. A few of the items she recognized. The black drink was either something known as coffee, something know as tea, or something known as sodapop. Probably. Those were the most common drinks of that color, but then the alcohol family also included a great many different colors. However given the current simulated time, and the other pairings such as the cereal, she could essentially narrow it down to either coffee or tea. Whatever it may be, it smells kind of pleasant! With a smile the short security officer accepted a cup of coffee, drawing it close to her lips both to smell it and to allow some of the steam to pass across her horns. They were, after all, half sensory organs. A lot more information could be gleamed through them! In fact they were sensitive enough that Luanari often showed affection through the brushing of one's horns against the horns of those they wished to share feelings with or, in the very rare case when it happened, something further than even that! Of course in the moment she was doing none of that. It was more important to determine whether or not coffee was safe for her. Luanari had tried out some Human foods, but this one, she had been informed, required more testing. Something about making our people excitable? Or was it energetic? I wonder what affects it might have on a Human! This is so very exciting! She was snapped out of her thoughts when the captain spoke the name of her people once more, having gone into further explanation about her presence on board the vessel. Again, she picked up most of what was said, partially thanks to prior knowledge about the topic. There was a conflict within the Human sphere. They met the Luanari. It was decided to keep their relations a secret for the time being. Xyvee was here as a representative of her species. As such she offered a simple nod along with her captain's explanation. When the blueprint was brought out she turned her attention towards it, eyeing the skematic carefully while she sipped upon the hot, apparently bitter tasting drink. It appeared the vessel was more than capable of running itself. She would be, more or less, a backup system to that. And security, which was closer to her specialty. Learning everything about the helm was probably where she would be focused first. A call for questions was answered by the same Human male who had apparently spoken incorrectly about the fluffy one's name before! Or perhaps 'the smaller fluffy one' would be more appropriate, as she only just noticed in that moment that another larger fluffy one had arrived! This one was apparently an android. Or perhaps a robot? No, it had to be an android or a cyborg. The fluffy part wouldn't make sense otherwise. Regardless, the Human was dissatisfied with secrets. At least, that is what she got out of his words. There were other words too that she didn't fully comprehend. Like xenophobic. And tits. Also something about the small rodent creatures she'd read about. Mouse. This one has a proclivity towards animals. I must remember this! A bowl of cereal had been left behind, placed for some reason or another at her feet. She crouched down, looking over the colorful morsels. After a few moments she recognized the smiling face, and this in turn brought a smile to her own face! Perhaps he is trying to communicate with me? Pictures are a clever workaround to the language barrier! I should try them myself! From behind her the Luanari's suit stretched outwards, adhering to the form of her thin tail which swept around and coiled against the bowl, lifting it off the ground as she straightened out. If she remembered correctly the proper thing to do when a Human departed was to wave towards them, and so she did just that towards the one who departed! Right. Questions! Her attention lifted up towards her new captain and, after a few moments of thinking up the proper words, she went ahead and tried to speak! "Wot Capteen want Evee do?"
  16. We got a doggo droid and a small cat droid. Nothing could ever go wrong there! Also between all the androids and the genetically enhanced Luanari I feel like security on the ship isn't going to be too much of an issue!
  17. Huzzah! Now caught up!
  18. The Human smiled and spoke words which took a few moments to register within the young Luanari's mind. Captain was a rank. The other words that followed were probably his name, or perhaps a title. A greeting. The Starfinder. And, finally, her nickname! Things were actually clicking pretty well for her, which meant that the cryosleep had not inflicted any lasting damage upon her brain. Captain Drahveen Azor. Draveen Azure? Draven Azure? There we go. This is my new captain. She remained still when the probably-a-male crouched down and adjusted the sleeves of her robes. Clearly she had been wearing it incorrectly. Perhaps it wasn't the wrong size, and it was supposed to be this long? It was entirely possible. Captain seems like a nice Human. "Yeez Capteen. Evee shooer." Indeed, now she knew who she was serving, and they were already making a good impression! This of course meant that she had to put in the maximum effort into whatever he might possibly ask of her! First things first: bathing! The little Luanari hustled off past the man to set her clothes near a locker. By the time she entered the showers she was, thankfully enough, alone. Clearly she had woken up late! But this meant at least that she could wash herself in private, and this in turn made the entire experience pass much quicker. There was no ened to maneuver around in such a way to hide her body. But then it also meant that she couldn't get a closer look at an unclothed Human either. That, it seemed, would need to wait! Once she had finished up Xyvee dressed herself in the official uniform of a Luanari. It was effectively a dark grey skin tight body suit with various built in systems, although these were meant to pair with Luanari technology. When not worn it was quite loose and baggy, with only the attached shoes being hardened, along with a semi-hard collar. After pulling it on one's body sensors built into the suit reacted to the heat given off, which in effect switched its internal systems on. By pressing a sequence of buttons upon the collar, and securing it properly to the neck, the rest of the suit tightened and set into place. It was only half of the normal Luanari combat armor, the other pieces consisting of leggings, gloves, and a torso piece, all of which slid on over the body suit. The torso piece was even capable of projecting a bubble helmet! Only the body suit was required when in uniform, and it was all that she wore when she finally entered the common area. Enjoying the feeling of long hair, she decided to keep it at hip length. Upon arrival she was hit with the exotic smells of what she could only assume was Human food, and after five years of slumber her body was hungry for just about anything. Not that she needed that to partake, of course. Xyvee was quite curious regardless of her condition! But she couldn't simply run up and gorge herself on food. There was sure to be proper protocol for this sort of thing. Besides, she hadn't even introduced herself to the rest of the crew! Perhaps more importantly, the Captain was speaking, which meant it was now her duty to listen and translate. It was a flurry of words which were difficult to keep up with, but she managed to catch on to what she believed to be the gist of things. When the Luanari were named she straightened herself up and pressed her right fist to the center of her chest, offering the same salute to the others that she had delivered before to the Captain. Of course her new Captain was clever, and didn't even need her to pronounce the name of her people, as he ultimately figured it out on his own. Truly he was shaping up to be someone she could follow! Right, there were other words too. Also plenty she didn't quite understand. What she did understand was their mission, and a request for questions. For the moment she had far too many to ask, and so she decided to wait. Others would find it easier to ask, after all, and it was entirely possible that all of her questions would be answered! Another Human, again most likely one of the males, pointed in her direction, which only prompted her to tense her stance up even further still! He too apparently was asking for questions. Or was going to ask some? Wait, no, that one seemed more likely. Also there was talk of some sort of creature she had read about, something called an elephant. Apparently it was in the room! This obviously prompted her to glance around, somewhat confused as she was pretty certain they were detailed as being quite large. How could she have missed such a creature's presence?!? I do not think that there is such a creature here. And then it clicked! He had also used the word not, which meant no. There was no elephant in the room. Perhaps the Captain had asked about it, and she had gotten lost in the mess of words which had been delivered from his lips. More words were spoken and these too were unknown to her. What is a Keevler? I swear I have read somewhere about something called Elf. What is a Leshy? Lashy? Lassee? They should have given us more time to study, I think. Short. She understood that word. It was fair. But the mention of stacking something was also confusing to her. She was not stacked upon anything, nor was anything stacked upon her! Unless he was referring to something else? Again her golden gaze wandered about, hoping to seek out answers to these strange statements. Perhaps it was an issue of figuring out names? When her gaze finally returned to those who were gathered she spoke, summing up as much courage as she could muster, for this would be her very important introduction to her new crew! "Hello. I Kssheevee. Can speak Evee. Luanari. Soldier. Pilot." She nearly jumped with joy in triumph, the few minutes she'd spent in the shower having apparently been enough to correct some of her words! A perfect introduction if she did say so herself! Not that she would out loud, as that would be bragging and bragging was somewhat looked down upon.
  19. Very true. Please avoid ruining Human - Luanari relationships with freak scalpel accidents thank you.
  20. Of course poor Xyvee will understand none of that, although perhaps that is for the better.
  21. The Nova idea sounds kind of funny. Ice breaker crew party and/or games? Hostile alien attack could be neat too. An exchanging of Human and Luanarian cultures?!?
  22. I enjoy it! And if nothing else you can always chalk it up to one of Xyvee's weird dream fandoms while she attempts to work through just how all these crazy Human relations work. I mean she would never!
