Icarian Dreams

"Right. Student card. Will do." She said, as she started pulling small cards out of each book, kept there to keep track of borrowed ones. "C-Can I see?" She stabilized her breathing. That was a dumb idea. A second one today! Doing a fine job, Anpu! She berated herself in her mind. A small hand emerged from behind the books, grasping Scarlet's student card. A quick scribbling could be heard, before the hand emerged back, returning the card. "I- like many genres." She was quick to reassure. "But detective stories are generally a good start if someone doesn't read much." Her head started to slowly appear from behind the pile, as the Oni didn't seem to have been judging her. "Uh, no offense intended." She reflected, not wanting to sound snobbish. "By the way, I'm Anpu." She extended her hand, as seeing the Oni's name on the student's card made her realize that she never really introduced herself. "Come visit us sometimes, Scarlet."

After a few minutes, Anpu came back, quickly stepping towards the Oni @OlrukTheSmall with yet another book under her shoulder, this much smaller than the other ones. She quickly eyed Myrddin, before adding it to the pile, her cheeks reddening. The cover read Dangerous Thirst, and depicted two women in early 20th century clothing, passionately making out. "D-don't let the cover deceive you, i-it's actually a pretty good detective story... a-and the smut isn't that bad either." The Anubis said, with each successive word, hiding deeper behind the pile of books, until she were almost invisible, save for a pair of wolfish ears folding over the bookstack. "I just thought you may want something beside the study books. Y-you don't have a library card, right?"

Victor breathed out heavily. Why was it always him who got all the deliquents in the class? There were so many teachers much better equipped for dealing with these kinds of students. Luther could hypnotize for goodness' sake! "You know very well what I'm insinuating." He considered separating them for a moment, but decided that spreading their area of influence may bring more harm than good. He let the next part of his answer be directed at the rest of the class as well. "I am well familiar with your abilities. I am aware how they can be used for ill purposes. And while I do not want to be pushed to drastic measures, the school has a set of seals, quite useful to neutralize a vast majority of them. Keep that in mind." His glance was attracted by a yet another lust demon, this time sitting a bit further in the back. He sniffed the air a few more times. The smell he felt appeared to come from her, but it seemed she wasn't doing anything illicit at the moment. He sighed at the question. "Ideally, you would want to seek higher education at a college or an university, or you could try your luck with professional work. Alas, as of this day, there are few higher education institutions that accept monsters. We are actively working to establish partnerships with multiple universities in the area, but I can't make any promises." He smiled bitterly as he recalled his own troubles finding work. "I'm sure your human society teacher will have a much more in-depth answer to that question..." He checked his watch. Zadria @Multiversalseemed to be running late. He decided to give her a minute or two before he'd go to find her.

Anpu couldn't help but smile at the girl's attempts to make smalltalk. She was boiling inside just a little bit less. "I love all these books." She stopped picking the books, just to look around and take in the smell of the thousands of tomes surrounding her. "Thousands of years worth of knowledge from either world. What's there not to love?" She asked rhetorically, as her tail wagged a few times just at the thought. Her hand hanged in the air for a moment. That didn't sound like a good selling point towards someone like the Oni. "Well, not only knowledge. There's enough for pretty much anyone to find something they fancy." She spoke, slightly lost in thought, as she stepped back towards the girl, before handing her the books for Maths, Sciences, and, of course, Human Biology. "Bring these to the counter once you're done." She smiled, this time quite genuinely. "It'll be just a moment." She excused herself, making sure the girl had everything before she rushed to a different section of the library,

Victor sighed a bit. He forgot the triplets had to be questioned separately. Well, at the very least one of them had to know something if they managed to answer as she did. He looked at Zadria run out of the class. He would have to talk with her later. He wasn't sure if he could endure another year if she remained this agitated. And the DuBelle triplets weren't helping either. He looked carefully at the girls, attempting to discern them. Once he figured out which one was which, he interrupted. "Very well DuBelle. Whichever one of you it was. If I see or hear about any of you messing with other students, I'll make sure all three find more time to study at detention. Are we clear?" He raised an eyebrow at the girls. "Now, without further interruptions: As I mentioned, this is likely your last year with us, meaning that by the end of this year you will face your final exams from all mandatory subjects as well as a number of subjects of your choice. " He coughed a few times into his hand, scanning the class. His nose picked up a rather... undecent smell. He continued, as his eyes follow to try and locate the source. "You will need to choose your subjects until the end of this month, and you'll go through mock exams at the end of the first semester to prepare you for the real thing. Any questions regarding that?"

"Maths, English, Science, History, and Human Biology..." Anpu recounted out loud. Her irides went to the corners of her eyes for a moment, as she recalled the plan of the library. "Got it. You'll find English and History a bit to the right, Maths and Science are further back, next to both Biologies. I'll fetch them for you." She proposed, her bad mood dying down a bit, as her feeling of duty started to take over. Well, at least she could help someone. Someone who wasn't about to tell her she had an 'obsession'. Pfft. She stomped away towards the shelves, not even waiting for an affirmation from the Oni. 'Turning a library into a hotel.' Yeah, right. She was but one person, what the hell did it hurt her to just let her this one small thing... She felt herself winding up again. "Second class, right?" She almost growled, as she searched through the books. @OlrukTheSmall

Are there any organizational information available anywhere? Like the fact that you need to take three classes, and generally everything you're supposed to talk about during an orientation lesson? Asking for a friend.

Victor felt the hair on his neck stand up. He took a deep breath in and out. "Very well, Miss DuBelle. If you're such a keen learner, how about you remind the class about the Wars of the Roses? We've discussed it by the end of the last year, it should still be recent on your mind." He turned towards Zadria, seeing as the demon was having trouble keeping her cool. God, was he really about to have a fire started in his class on the very first day again? "Miss Pyrope, I recommend that you step outside and get a grasp on yourself. Be back within." He looked at his watch. "five minutes." He turned to the higher demon, hoping to be able to resolve the manner as peacefully as he could.

Anpu stopped herself from growling until after the headmistress was gone. What bit that woman? Annoyed, she stepped quickly, yet heavily towards the tables in the middle of the room, resting the books she was carrying there. She sighed. Maybe it was a dumb idea. She turned, taking a look at Scarlet @OlrukTheSmall. The demon looked more like she was flexing rather than looking for books. It wasn't an unpleasant sight, but Anpu felt obliged to help her. She could damage the books if she keeps it up like this. She approached the Oni, her breathing still a bit heavy from emotion, but once again forced a smile on her face. "If you tell me what your classes are, I may be able to help." She spoke with as friendly a tone as she could muster.

"Watch your language, young lady." Victor instinctively muttered towards the demon @Multiversal, not really giving her much mind, as he was finishing his conversation with the headmaster. He groaned at the remark. He had a phone. A 50-year-old german rotary-dial telephone after his father. And he stood by the opinion that he didn't need any other. He quite liked the ringing. Giving Edgar a last goodbye, he turned to face the class, from habit adjusting his tie. As was to be expected, he was interrupted by one of the triplets @JennyDK before he could address the class. He sighed. "Miss LuBelle, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I haven't even said anything for you to learn." He looked over at Zadria. The girl was right though. "Miss Pyrope, I would ask that you stop growling at fellow students and try not to destroy the desk on the first day of school." Satisfied with his answer, he stepped back, once again attempting to address the class. He clapped his hands together. "Well then. Allow me to welcome you to yet another year at our fine establishment! Most of you know me already, but I see some fresh faces here, so allow me to introduce myself. I'm Victor Marlowe, and I will be your history teacher and a homeroom teacher for what's hopefully-" He glanced at Zadria. "-your last...year... Miss Pyrope cease this at once!" Victor snarled, hearing the demoness speak over him. He felt his nails and fangs lengthen ever so slightly. "DuBelle. Stop. Distracting. Other. Students." He growled through his teeth.

God, the posts in the 3rd year classroom are going so fast I don't have time to even write down a response lol

Anpu sighed deeply, pouting her lips. She should have brought this up to the vice-headmaster. He would understand. "Yes, Miss De Parnacel." She said without enthusiasm. "Sorry for bothering you." @JennyDK She turned and approached the visitor. @OlrukTheSmall "Good morning. I don't think I've seen you here before. May I help you?" She asked, forcing a fake smile to her unamused tone. Maybe she should try asking the vice-headmaster later. She eyed the student up and down. She seemed a bit... jocky. But at least she smelled nice. Anpu sighed softly under her breath. "Study books, I presume? Section nine, both sides." She pointed to the bookshelves in the far part of the room. "If you need help finding something let me know."

Anpu was stunned by the cold refusal coming from the headmistress. She didn't expect her to agree, but she didn't expect her to be so dismissive as well. "B-but I-" She stepped back into Veronica's field of view, ears lying tight to her head. She wasn't satisfied with letting the topic die down like that. "Please, Miss De Parnacel! It's just- I need to be here. I- I don't know how to explain it... I feel a connection with this place. I can barely sleep without worrying that something may happen!" She pleaded, almost teary-eyed. She felt this... link already by the end of last year, but it was weaker back then. She herself wasn't even quite sure what was going on, but it felt like something she had to do. She noticed the new student @OlrukTheSmall walk into the room, and just gestured for her to wait, as she wanted to finish talking with Miss De Parnacel.

Seeing how Myrddin didn't seem to want to take the initiative, Anpu took a long breath. Hopefully it won't be too awkward. She doesn't even utter the first word before feeling the heat rise in her cheeks. Why is everyone in this school so... direct? She inhales deeply, then exhales on a single breath: "Soo... That since I already spend most time in the library and since Master Illrean doesn't mind and that I thought that I could maybe-" She runs out of breath, and has to take a moment to recatch it Alright, that certainly wasn't what she wanted to do. Calming herself, she continues, now in a more steady manner: "Could I move in to the library? Like, with my bed, and all my things. Pleease?" She asks the headmistress, giving her the puppy eyes. "Master Illrean already agreed."

Anpu smiles nervously at the mage's forwardness, redness lingering on her face. "I mean, I-I'll still be in a different room, and..." She starts, but it seems that the librarian doesn't really seek explaination, calling the headmistress practically instantly. So instead, she just addresses his other point. "It's much shorter than calling you the 'Master of the Library', right?" she says, stepping towards the reading desks. "Oh, good morning Ms. De Parnacel!" Anpu smiles, seeing the headmistress appear in the room. "The speech was very nice!" She adds, feeling like it's expected of her to add something instead of just exchanging greetings. Nevertheless, she leaves the matter at and for the librarian to address, not feeling that confident talking to the demoness.

Waking from a rather relaxing nap in the janitor's closet, Victor took a quick glimpse at his watch. Shit, his class started about fifteen minutes ago. He lifted himself up, with one hand searching for his folder as the other fixed - well... adjusted - his tie. Giving a second glimpse at the watch, ensuring himself that his haste was justified, he rushed out of the closet, giving a grateful nod as he passed Miss Sue in the corridor. Hopefully she didn't try to get a drop of his saliva or one of his hairs this time. A smell of flowers alerted him near the entrance. He sighed with relief. It seems someone asked Edgar to fill in for him when he was away. Probably Isegol, that werewolf sometimes seemed to know him better than Victor knew himself. Or maybe it was just the vice-head, knowledgable about the history teacher's habits. He'd have to ask the counselor later. He stopped before crossing the door, picking a small, red flower that blossomed right next to the entrance. Huh, pretty, he thought, opening the wooden gates with his shoulder and stepping in. "Good morning class!" The werewolf greeted the students, as he made his way to the vice-headmaster @Thatannoyinggod. His apparel haven't changed since the opening, alongside his favourite (and the last not torn to pieces) white shirt, fancying a neat gray suit, so different from his usual weathered leather coat. He gave a quick look towards the board, trying to estimate how much of the lesson has already passed, and stepped over a patch of flowers, making sure he didn't stomp on too many of them. His voice lowered when addressing Edgar, audible only to them, save for a few more perceptive students. "Thank you for holding the class, Edgar. I see you already started the lesson?" He placed down his folder, and turned on the computer. He looked at the flower still in his hand. Why on hell did I pick it? He placed it onto the desk next to his. @Multiversal "Zadria, be a dear, and hold onto this, can you?" He asked, without giving the girl a second glance, before something struck him. He looked at the demon attentively. "Zadria, I don't smell cigarettes from you. I'm proud, girl!" He exclaimed in a tone of surprise and approval, nodding his head slowly a few times, before turning back to the vice-headmaster.

If you can manage to find a reason, feel free to throw her into the library! The more the merrier ^^

She shaked as his hand touched her head, unable to stop her tail from giving two more happy wags. He seemed so patronizing when he did that, but it felt so gooood... She brought herself back to reality, stopping mid-way to the table, as she recalled something. "Oh, Master Illrean, I just remembered, there was something else I wanted to ask of you..." She blushed, clutching the books in her arms tighter. "C-could I move my bed into the library? I-I know that we have dorms, and that these things I should bring up to the headmistress, but I-I just feel better in the library. And I spend most nights here anyway..." @SymbioteSliver

"I am not-" She starts to protest his claims, as she turns to approach the wizard. Seeing the volumes in his hands, however, she falls silent for a moment, before rushing towards him, her ears straight up, keen on catching every word he says. "That's... for me?" She looks at Myrddin wide-eyed. "Master Illrean I- Thank you!" She exclaims, stopping herself from jumping onto the wizard in attempts to hug him. Instead, she carefully takes the tomes, cautious not to damage anything. She recalled trying to polish her Ancient last spring, but she also vastly remembered finding more interesting things to read... "Uhm..." she responds in a rather uneloquent manner, more focused on flicking through the old pages of the tome rather than listening to the mage. Her hand moves over the ancient pages, shielding them with faint blue light - one of the very few divine spells she still remembered from learning as a pup, protecting the elder sheets from further decay. "Mostly waited for it to end. It's still hard for me to adjust, everything here is so much... louder than at home. The food is different too. I've taken a liking to these things humans call pizza." Her tail wags back and forth a couple of times, as if to reinforce her words. "Oh, I've been to the cinema! It's so impressive that humans do this without using magic at all!" Her head rises from the book for the first time in the last minute, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Seeing how the librarian appears to be feeling a bit tired, the anubis girl decides to let him rest, and goes back to her organizational duties, recalling how she has yet to categorize sections seven through nine. Ugh. Her ears catch Myrddin's scream alongside the sound of a secret compartment rising from the ground. She almost forgot they had these. Perfect for catching dust, and not much else. Just as she reaches out for the books, a voice calls her back. She sighs, as her hand stops mid-air. She leans back from behind the bookshelves. "You need me, Master?"

The sudden scolding made Anpu reactively put her ears back. "I'm sorry, Master Illrean, Mr. Marlowe said I could skip it. I'll get notes later, I swear!" Her mouth closed in awe, seeing how with a single spell, Myrddin cleaned up the entire chamber. How she wished she could do the same. Alas, despite hours spent in secret, with just a candle and dozens of magic tomes, not even a spark of arcane energy did ever escape her fingers. Her tail perks up, however, as she remembers something she is good at. "I've organized your books, Master Illrean! You'll find demonology and necromancy in section five, I've allowed myself to bookmark-" She blushed at the compliment interrupting her train of thought. "Thank you Master, I... enjoy your company as well. Let me know if I can be of any help." She looked to the ground, embarrassed, smiling slightly. She missed the atmosphere of this place. Even the slight complaining of Master Illrean was quite soothing to hear.

Alright, posted in the library with a justification not to have two characters in the same thread. As soon as Victor manages to pick some flowers, I'll throw him into the 3rd year lesson.

With haste in her step, Anpu passed the grand doors to the library, already feeling the strength coming from within the walls of the place. The mere smell of all the knowledge gathered in here made her tail wag with joy. Ahh, how she missed it! She was so glad she managed to convince Mr. Marlowe to let her skip the orientation lesson and head straight here. If she could, she would have spent the entire summer holidays in the library, but sadly that wasn't allowed, so, as every year, she had to spend these couple months away, only hoping that no harm came to her beloved books. Now, entering the chamber, she found it pretty much the same as when she left it, save for a substantial layer of dust that covered a vast majority of the bookstands. It seemed that master Illrean @SymbioteSliver had not yet visited the place. She thought it would make him happy if she cleaned up as much as she could before he returned. She gazed across the room, taking in the tall columns of bookshelves. It was highly impropable she was going to manage to clean even a fraction of the entire library. But it wouldn't stop her from trying. Her eyes went to the stacks of books right next to Myrddin's table. Curses. She was sure she organized these last spring. She sighed, directing her steps towards them. It was as good place to start as any.
