Kerry was the litter runt - tiny, useless, and just another mouth to feed. So the pack did what they needed to do: Promptly left the shivering little lizard mutant on a rock in the middle of the Wasteland to die. He would either survive on his own, or they wouldn't. It's impossible to say if it was fate or good fortune - but either way, the Enclave scientist that found him decided he was unique enough to save. Or at least that was the word they preferred to use.

The small Enclave outpost became Kerry's home for quite some time. It was a place that provided shelter, food, and safety, so the experiments weren't all that bad compared to the horrors of the Wastes. Eventually the scientists achieved their ends - creating a mutated creature that could speak. Their achievement was short lived however. The other creatures in the labs soon rebelled, yearning for freedom and blood. Kerry stayed put in his cage, not wanting to risk a spare laser round in the chest.

The dust settled and the doors stood ajar, leaving Kerry alone with their previous masters' bodies littering the empty metal halls. They took it upon themselves to clean, tidy, and rebuild some semblance of a life. There were enough resources here to stay for quite a long time, but eventually, they'd have to learn about the Wasteland.
