Karys Stormblade: I was in the midst of a skirmish when a rift opened behind me. One moment, rain and steel—next, I’m standing in your settlement, still soaked. I’m not entirely sure how I got here.

Officer Kess: You’re noted to be highly skilled in swordsmanship. How did you acquire those skills?

Karys Stormblade: My father was a mercenary who believed a blade was the only shield against a cruel world. He taught me from a young age—technique, discipline, how to read an opponent’s stance. I’ve sharpened those lessons through countless battles since.

Officer Kess: Any particular reason you carry that specific sword?

Karys Stormblade: It’s been in my family for generations, passed down on the condition that each bearer uses it to defend, not conquer. It’s seen a lot of bloodshed, but it’s also saved countless lives.
