Nolan Vale
Name: Nolan Vale
Age: Unknown (Approximately 22)
Background: Many years back, the retired pirate Dyne had been living on his own, far away from the next city. Why exactly? He himself could not remember. All he knew was that he by now had his little retreat at the sea, his variety of treasures from the old days, and all the time in the world he could ask for. One day however, he found a stranded little boat while he was fishing. In it, a dead woman, and a young child. And what did he do? Naturally, he took the boy as his latest treasure, as a proper pirate would, and raised him as his own.
This boy was later named Nolan by him, and grew up to be a healthy kid. Luckily too young to remember any of the probably tragic events later, but naturally curious, and smart. Dyne taught the boy how to read, how to act, told him wondrous stories, and once he was fueled to explore the world too, trained him to be strong and capable. As far as Nolan was concerned, those difficult days were his happiest memories. But having grown old, Dyne eventually passed one morning. And yet, he could do so in peace. He taught Nolan everything he could, left him with some fine treasures, and a rough goal. The rest would be up to him.
Currently, Nolan works as an adventurer, with a focus on being a scout, cartographer, and prospector when needed. Talents he is rather proud of. In his free time, he draws the faces of people he had met into his journal, and reads any books he comes across to learn about the culture around him, no matter if it is a novel, a history book, journals, or business records.
Personality: Nolan grew up with the belief that the world is wonderful. The places, the phenomena, the people. Yes, clearly there are bad things in the world too. Cruelty, Corruption, conflict. But that is exactly why he worked so hard to become as talented as he possibly could. To find and fill the world with wonder. And who knows? Maybe along the way, if he can't change the world, maybe he could change the world for one person.
And while Nolan does wonder about his past and actual heritage, he refuses to let it distract him for too long. Because for now, his gaze is locked on what is ahead, not behind.
