  • I'm looking to start a group game using the Fabula Ultima system. For those unaware it is a system inspired by jrpgs so it takes a lot of it themes and trappings from that genre.

    The setting and premise will be decided as a group, but the general flow of a Fabula Ultima game is that greater and greater villains will threaten the world and it is up to you to stop them.

    I'm hoping the game to be lewd, the only mechanic I can think of to tweak is to allow both heroes and enemies to take advantage of defeated characters. And of course I'm planning to make extra horny monsters for encounters, with potentially sexual abilities.

    I learned Fabula Ultima like, 5 to 6 months ago for someone else's RP. I can't deny that I will be rusty, since I rarely do system if ever.

    No problem being rusry. It's always best to do a walkthrough of the core mechanics as a group so everyone is on the same page.

    Which setting do you prefer?

    High Fantasy

    Natural Fantasy

    Techno Fantasy

    Natural Fantasy is a setting dotted with small settlements living in harmony with nature. Enemies will then consist of monsters representing forces of nature or misguided leaders.

    I'd like at least one more person to show interest before we start any serious world-building.

    Maybe the world has all three exist to some degree as a backdrop (to expand character origin potential) but our characters only really like explore one type throughout. You know, have at least one or two talk about how this side of the world is so different from what they're used to.

    My last Fabula Ultima thingy had me play a Guardian-Fighter so that I could do a classy ol tank taunt (taunting is super costly for what it is holy crap) so I wonder if I should reprise that or run with something new. Let's just say taunting was a key part of her character.

    There's probably room for the other types. A mage's tower floats over the valley housing a quirky wizard searching for a very specific item.

    Ancient ruins might house technology from an ancient past.

    Though we're likely not touching.

    Tanking is actually a valid strategy in Fabula Ultima. But the provoke skill seems kinda lackluster given how targets are normally chosen at random. I reckon protecting is just more cost effective.

    Huh, that's weird. In my last session I had to pick a target to provoke. I guess it's just a thing that was up to intepreting or modifying rules.

    Clarification: per the rules for the gamemaster. The monsters should decide the targets of their attack randomly.

    Player characters with the provoke skill can force the monster to target them. I suppose the effect lasts so there's some merit to it.

    Hmm, if you don't mind my learning as we play (and of course appealing to my kinks and general sexiness) I'd be happy to play. 🙂 Are there any rulesets I can read? Would this game be play-by-post like a typical RP here?

    It's a game that easier to explain as we go. Though I think "Fabula Ultima: Press Start" is a free intro adventure to the system you can read through. Getting your hands on the core rules would be very helpful for character creation. But you can also use fultimator to get an overview of the character option.

    During setup we'll go through veils and limits. So you can bring up your likes and dislikes.

    It'll be pbp with potentially some kind of shared files for world and group sheets.

    This section of Ecchi Dreams is for 1x1 roleplays. If you wanna organize a group roleplay with Fabula Ultima as its general theme, you might want to create a club for it. That feature is available to you if you have doubts.

    I bought the books just yesterday and didn't have the time to get through the main one yet (but I am on page 60 by now). But count me interested as well. I will however need some more time to get through the rule book. Should you need help with setting up a club, you have but to ask.

    Hmm, I was eyeing the idea of setting up a club. Though I'm not sure if I have the time and energy to run and moderate something like that.

    Seeing how there's so much interest I might be tempted to try regardless. Worst thing I can do is fail.
