For half a year by now, bandits have demanded protection tribute from your character's village. Food, coin, service, and on rare occasion, company. Ask the local ruler for help? The bandits are supported by a sorcerer. It is not that simple. Your village does not seem to be worth the risk of losing men. And so, the people simply had to deal with them.
But come spring, one lone bandit, looking severely beaten up, brings a letter to the mayor, and then just runs off as if the devil himself was after him. Some time later, the content of the letter is spread around.
"Greetings villagers. I have taken care of the local bandit problem, by killing all but one of them. I have also taken their fort as my new place of residence. And you are surely very grateful. So I politely ask, that you, in return for this service, seek among you a volunteer to serve me. I will come to your village in 3 days to take with me whoever you chose."
This is BAD. Whoever this was killed the bandits, their sorcerer, and was now planning to come here. They had to make sure that whoever they chose would satisfy whatever need he had. But who?
Your character could be-
-the daughter of the mayor, who plans to sacrifice herself to ensure the village is safe.
-a girl whose parents were killed by the bandits. But the people were good to her. This could be her chance to repay their kindness.
-whatever you come up with.
But the twist? On his way, there was not some kind of evil mastermind that was planning new ways to exploit their village. Strong? Oh yes, absolutely. But the only evil thing about him is his appearance and eccentric nature. Not so deep down, this was simply a guy who heard about the troubles the village had, and went out of his way to get there, deal with the issue, and take the fort as payment. What he meant with his letter was just that. That surely they were glad to be rid of the bandits and would like to repay their savior to not feel indebted. And he really needed an extra pair of hands. And he would take good care of whoever they would pick among themselves. Given how people react to his appearance, however, he would embrace the role, and play it out like a Saturday morning cartoon villain. Not so subtly, hiding good deeds behind an extravagant behavior and proclamations. Starting with making his new assistant sign a work contract that binds her to work 5 days per week, 8 hours, with only 1 break in between. And if she does not abide by it, he will... deduct the time from her pay. Can you see the comical evil yet?

And lastly, this is the character I would like to use.
Name: Yul B Allwright
Race: Unknown, but not a demon.
Yul is used to people having the wrong impression of him, and can not really blame them. People fear big differences in power, and his defies logic. He slapped magic projectiles away on multiple occasions already, and can break both barriers and castle walls with his bare fists. How could someone be calm if someone with his looks also behaved like a goodie two shows?
By now he has made it a habit to simply work with it and act out the role of a villain while achieving his goals. And it works out surprisingly well. A very minor bit of fear seems to hold people back from doing something dumb, and those who now feel like they are in the right feel safer as their views are confirmed.
He usually makes his money by contacting people via letter under a fake name, ship products he makes himself, and simply pick up the payment. On rarer occasions, he is taking up the mantle of adventurer to deal with bigger problems and get paid for it as well.
But behind the eccentric behavior is an actually caring soul. A walking calamity, with hope for humanity.
Notes:
Yul is absurdly strong. While not shy about it, he doesn't usually show that he can throw boulders around as if they were made of cardboard.
The reason why Yul can slap and tear apart magic is a very high magic resistance. While useful, it also means that positive spells, such as blessings, buffs and healing, equally struggle to affect him. He also can not use magic items that require their holder as a power source (such as staffs with a set spell).
He has practical and theoretical knowledge of many fields, of which some are ahead of current times. They are including, but are not limited to: Medical arts, culinary arts, physics, and chemistry.
So... anyone interested in fixing someone who has been misunderstood for most of his life? Ah! And as for lewd details, let's chat about that. Because I do have an idea or two, but I feel like this is something that works better if tailored to the partner character rather than generalized.
