The Night Alley

Haru and Shinji were two low ranking soldiers of the town. Their days were spent guarding the gate and drinking at night. They were lucky enough to be at a favorite tavern of theirs this evening when a performer would take the stage. A young songstress who seemed to capture their eyes as well as their ears during her performance. Perhaps it was just their drinks that were lowering their inhibitions but they let her perform the entire act before noting how she had slinked off the stage. The two men covered their tab before leaving the establishment. Quickly making their way around the building in hopes of finding her in the back alley of the tavern. It was late at night, the streets were mostly cleared aside from the occasional odd passerby.

Shinji spotted her walking along the cobblestone path. Racing after her before she’d even notice the admirers. “Hey! Miss!” Shinji spoke out as they caught up with her. The two men were still in their uniforms, taking deep breaths after catching up to her. Haru taking the first chance he could to speak. “We just saw you singing at the tavern and you have a really nice voice. We were wondering if we could walk you home.” Each man slowly stepped to either side of her. Under the guise of walking her home they had full intentions of coming inside with her and seeing how far the night would take them.
