The Many Aspects of Fordinian Outsiders

In Fordinia lies many different sorts of outsiders all competing for godhood. No outsider however is more contested than one that meets another of its same aspect. To avoid conflicts as often as possible I will provide a list of some of the common aspects to help future outsiders decide on their aspect.

 

Major Aspect: 
A major aspect is usually the dominant belief within a region, granting great power to the outsider that presides over it. Major outsiders often find themselves in cities with little reign over the surrounding areas or with sweeping territories of low population density that are uncontested by a competing outsider of the same aspect.

------The most common outsiders to find within cities include: Law/Order [Lawful Good] or Domination/Submission [Lawful Evil] (For cities with a strict governing body), Freedom [Chaotic Good] and Chaos [Chaotic Evil] (For cities with loose governing bodies), as well as Lust [Chaotic Evil] and Love [Chaotic Good]. 

Within cities all of those aspects are able to coexist but most often there is only one or two that have the full power of a major aspect outsider. Examples of a city dynamic would be Vellos, it is run by the Demon of Lust behind the scenes gathering power from the depravity of its citizens as the Demon of Domination and the Angel of Law control the city and its people and receive the most worship. Keep in mind these outsiders of Vellos are available to be claimed as characters just know they have some prewritten lore.

Minor Aspect:

A minor aspect is usually a belief that several people hold but falls short of being the majority in a small area. A minor aspect can be almost anything in society. woodworking, construction, snuggling, kissing is just to name a few examples. Minor aspects are usually more specialized which causes them to be less worshipped but due to this they seldom meet counterparts that contest them.

Also it is important to note that the major aspects given are simply the most common. As you will come to me with your character idea, if you think you have a good one feel free to ask if it could fit as a major outsider. For example the towns and cities near water might have a major outsider representing the ocean.

      There are some aspects whom can gather power without being directly worshipped in this world. This reply will go over some of them but keep in mind that aspects can be anything so ask while creating your character if this applies to your prospective aspect. 

 

      Most notable would be outsiders that represent nature! The nature aspect is one of the most powerful aspects outside of cities despite their followers usually being limited to druids and those who live close to nature such as small village inhabitants. This is because nature outsiders can also derive strength from the animals and plants inside of the region under their control. For example, the forest to the northeast (recently claimed by Chiyako and titled the White Forest) has a huge amount of biological activity that makes Chiyako's outsider a force to be reckoned with... if she wasnt a younger outsider with less power to start with that is.

 

      Two other lesser aspects that are notable would be Sex and Death outsiders. Outsiders of death are usually minor aspects with meddling power but in times of war, plague, etc. and the death rates climb these creatures grow to become major aspects for as long as the events persist. During these times they often use this power to gather individuals that like their ideals and start barbaric or bandit-like tribes that dedicate their time to pillaging and attacking innocents to feed their outsider's bloodlust. Sex/lust outsiders usually dont play huge roles in society as nobody really needs convincing to be horny usually but they still find themselves strongest in cities and other places with a high density of depravity. Cities with many brothels and sex workers or with a populace that's made sex more commonplace tend to have a powerful lust outsider that sits in the background enjoying the power they are given.
