Best practices can be defined as ways of doing things that are accepted as being the most effective.

Comment what you find to be a best practice in role play, whether one-on-one or in a group.
For example, it is a best practice to avoid god modeling/god modding, which is when a role player takes control of the plot and other people('s) character(s') actions to get a specific outcome. Instead of god modding, it's best for all parties to communicate out of character, be flexible, considerate, and accommodating of everyone's wishes. A satisfying plot can be achieved when everyone involved works together on building it.
