☆ Hercules's Story ☆

The story of Hercules, Herakles... Whoever you may call the greatest of heroes began even before her birth, even then she had troubles.

It all started when Hera caught Zeus in his many affairs, in this case, Alcmene. Zeus made love to Alcmene, disguised as her husband.

Amphityron, who returned the same night after Zeus left his mark on her and Alcmene also carried the child of Amphityron that night. 

When Hera found out about Zeus' affair, she made Zeus swear that whoever would be birthed would become High King. 

Once Zeus swore upon it, Hera had made her move. She delayed the birth of Hercules by delaying Ilithyia, the goddess of childbirth, from intervening. Though a servant of Alcmene intervened thus allowing Alcmene to give birth to both Hercules and her twin.

Though, many of you may ask... Where is the part where she got her godly strength? Well, here it is!

Alcmene, who feared the wrath of Hera, gave baby Hercules to Athena, the goddess of wisdom. Athen then gave the baby over to Hera, not recognizing the baby, and nursed the baby Hercules.

In being nursed, Hercules bit Hera hard, and Hera sent her back onto Earth! But, through being nursed by Hera, she had gained the powers she need to overcome any trial that will come before her.

This what saved from being killed by snakes, who instead of being frightened, would strangle the snakes.

As she grew into her youth, she would kill her music tutor with a lyre, and was sent to tend cattle on a mountain by her stepfather.  

During her stay on the mountain, she was visited by two mysterious figures who called themselves: "Vice" and "Virtue", Vice would offer Hercules a pleasant and easy life, whereas Virtue offered Hercules a severe but glorious life. Hercules chose the latter. 

Later on life, Hercules would be wedded to Megara, daughter of King Creon. They were happy and had a family. Though everything changed when Hera struck her mind with a curse of madness that made her kill her family.  

Realizing what she had done, she fled to the Oracle of Delphi for guidance. There, the Oracle, who was guided by Hera, sent her to King Eurystheus.

King Eurystheus gave Hercules ten labors, but would afterward, give her an extra two after being accused of cheating. 

From there The Twelve Labors of Hercules was born, thought that would be a story for another time.
