Julie Walker

Julie is a punk rock girl from the early 90s. One day she and her boyfriend Curt snuck into a secret facility where his father worked. There, they witnessed scientists using a chemical gas to bring the dead back to life.

(Zombies created with this 245 Trioxin retained full intelligence and memories from life. They could not be killed, even with a headshot. Even if cut into pieces, every piece would remain animated and mobile as if consciousness was instilled within every part. If incinerated, and the chemical escaped into the air, it would rain down from clouds and reanimate every body it touched - even animals, insects or buried corpses. However, over time, they would begin to rot and the pain would drive them mad. The only temporary reprieve for these undead was to eat brains, which made the pain go away. It would become like a drug addiction for them. The government was trying to weaponize these undead, thinking they could contain them in stasis within barrels or by freezing them. They could also electrocute them and destroy every cell at once. Formaldehyde could also stop the zombies' hunger temporarily due to preserving their bodies.)

Later, Curt decided to run away from home with Julie. They were driving down the road on his motorcycle and she tried to get a bit too handsy, distracting him. In the resulting accident, she was thrown into a tree and killed. Curt brought her body into the facility and brought her back to life. They then fled together. Julie, having only been dead a short time, seemed to act normal at first. 

The pair were pursued by government agents that wanted to capture her as well as a violent gang that they ran afoul of at a convenience store. Julie noticed that no food satisfied her hunger, which was becoming more intense. She bit one of the gang members who attacked them and later killed someone and ate their brain. Realizing that she was becoming a monster, she tried to throw herself off a bridge. But, this could not kill her, and Curt found her hiding in a sewer, being taken care of by a homeless "River Man."

Julie, looking for a new way to stop the hunger, begins giving herself a series of makeshift piercings. The pain makes her cravings go away. She later uses these weapons to brutally kill the gang members who attack them, turning them into zombies too. Ordinarily, the government catches them after Julie gives in to her hunger, eating River Man's brain. Curt reluctantly lets her be captured and brought back to the facility. However, upon learning that she'd be subjected to torturous experiments, he has a change of heart and breaks her out. However, he is bitten by another zombie during the escape. With the facility being locked down, the two decide to burn themselves in a furnace and die together with one last kiss. 

For the purposes of this account, we'll be doing an alternate path. Curt will be killed by the gang members and Julie will escape into the larger world. Still hunted by the government, she figures out that she can stave off the hunger with formaldehyde. She remains alone in hiding, trying to avoid capture or hurting anyone else. Rather than trying to destroy herself, she decides she wants to find a way to bring down the organization experimenting with the chemical.
