  1. Yeah, one of those could be fun. Have to read a bit more into how those work. Had been reading some of stuff in what I linked above, above in character creation and was not sure if characters only got one of those distinctions.
  2. “Guardian angel? Funny. Better than pretending to be her mom I guess.” Jumi said with a sigh, relieved Shinigami was here. “She just can’t leave us alone. Think it would have been better or worse if we smashed that apple right away, since she used it to get here?” She asked Shinigami. Figuring it was probably better for her to take the lead, now that she was here. Shinigami knew her better. “Good timing though, she only just showed up.” She did not know if Shinigami had some way to detect that or not. But either way this was probably for the better. She was still on guard, but felt a little better it would turn out alright. But while she was willing to help, this was now probably more between the two of them.
  3. Jumi let Mitsuko get up. Saw her movement, after what the other woman said. “Well, obviously your little apples were a trap after all.” Her suspicions looked increasingly right, as was her instinct not to take a bite out of either of them. She was more convinced now that would have gone quite bad. But was there something more? Shinigami thought they should keep the apple, did she know something more about it? Something that could maybe be used against the woman, in a case like this. She stood up and watched as Mitsuko made her way. ”Don’t take what I say too literally, you can stay wherever you are. The whole acting like a demon thing does not go well for feeling welcome.” She was not inclined to make a wish whether the woman was there or not. Unlike Shinigami, this woman had done nothing to relax Jumi’s guard or suspicions. Mitsuko seemed to have a good idea. Shinigami had suggested to keep the apple safe, but it would probably be better destroyed. Unfortunately it did not go well. Of course she had to show up. “See what I mean? This isn’t how you make friends.” Some coldness now in the voice, but cautious, would not make any sudden movements unless it looked like she was going to hurt Mitsuko. “You haven’t done the greatest job getting us to trust you. Let her go.” The girl may kept her word a little while ago, but Jumi was still far from taking her word. “What, you here to humiliate me instead, or Shinigami?” Assuming she meant no harm to Mitsuko, Jumi still could not imagine good intentions. “Another little game to try to get my soul, or something else?” As they approached the building, Umi felt a shift in the air. A warmth of sorts but an energy too. “Yes, perhaps you best look into them. I believe something is occurring. Maxim appears to be keeping an eye on it, but it has not become bad enough for him to step in.” His patience may have been tested by the first intrusion. He might be more inclined to step in this time, depending on just what the woman did. But for now at least, it did not seem too dangerous. But a risk. They approached the building and Umi gestured to it. “I will wait here for a little while. If it something over quickly I will go back to the temple with you. Otherwise, I will return on my own, grab the items and wait in my chambers.” She stood where she was. Would let Shinigami handle this, wait, hope for the best.
  4. Alright, this should be easier. Making characters is fun. I can build on it/change if necessary, but let’s try this as the starting point. Maybe mix a few of my ideas. A young human woman, formerly a student of a mad scientist, who seemed enthusiastic at first but found herself more troubled as it went on. Eventually running away, mostly on the run/exploring since then. Not sure if her former employer is searching for her. She is cautious, but loyal to people she trusts. When possible, she tries to use her education from the mad scientist to make money. Probably gives her a little skill in repairing things, though not necessarily an expert. Or with identifying purposes of strange objects. Maybe other methods? She can and has resorted to the world’s oldest profession at times, but it is not her first choice. Usually resorting to it, when she sees no other options.
  5. I’m good with that. Are we at the point of trying to fill out the below, or starting with something more basic first? Figuring out a basic idea of all the characters before trying to fill that out? https://ecchidreams.com/community/topic/9924-cortex-steampunk-rules-reference/
  6. “Don’t be scared now.” A more relaxed tone. But still playful. “I’ve said before, I’m in no rush for that either. Just some fun imagining what is theoretically possible. What I’m imaging is quite a bit safer. Just what I was I was already planning to do back home but better for hopefully both of us.” Last thing she wanted to do was scare Mitsuko off the idea, especially when she seemed so excited about it. This was not intended to be that serious, just an extra level of fun. Something special for just them, but without going too far. Hopefully Mitsuko understood that. But before she could try to calm her further, that voice again. “Honey, I don’t mind an audience. But only when it is someone I invited.” She called out to that voice sarcastically, using the term suggesting her suspicion that that woman was not only interested in her soul. “I’ve been a Magical Girl for years, I don’t make wishes or deals with voices in the air in like that.” No matter how tempting it was, she would not wish for it from her. Shinigami or Maxim were one thing, but she was going to keep herself out of that one’s hands. Umi was familiar that sort of manipulation. Shinigami was not a demon. The other woman did not appear to be, but her behavior was closer to one. To play games with humans, for their own amusement or for some advantage. Offering the human something. It never ended well, if the demon kept its part of the bargain it was only because doing so was useful for the demon. Getting some influence over the human, for a longer term goal or something like that. Or for Magical Girls, to try to break them. “Mitsuko is new to this life, hopefully she is not caught off guard. Jumi I would hope would know better, see a trick for what it is was. But with someone that woman, yes, it is probably best to at least check on them. Perhaps I will retrieve those items as you check on them. But if you do not believe it will take long or be too exhausting, perhaps we can consider other matters too, if you come back alone.” Perhaps she was closer to agreeing with it. If Shinigami still had the energy for it, and if she felt the other two were fine and could be left alone. She made her way outside the building. “It is a separate building near the back. Assuming no intruders, they should be alone in the building, with no one likely to intrude upon them.” She, explained, walking around the main building, towards the back, making no assumptions about what they were up to, but realized there was a chance it was a rather private moment. The same thing she and Shinigami and her might still do later.
  7. Other group is getting ahead, making characters. Hope to see what Dreams has to say, but yeah up to now I have also kind of been go with what others like. There were some good ideas in that post AsBlood made, before switching. Having thought about it for a while, see what I can to it. Come with some kind of setting. Try to make it something unique, without looking at what the others are up to. The Lovecraftian idea could be something really fun to build on. Maybe the anthro/non-human stuff could be connected to that. Maybe something tribal? I had been thinking about doing a tribal character earlier, but maybe now leaning between explorer or mad-science. A group either investigating or running away from something of a higher power maybe. Something they may or not want to find the source of. Would potentially mix in ruins as well. This are things I am feeling a little more strongly about liking, but willing to work with others on, dropping or adjusting anything others don’t like or mixing in what others really like.
  8. Yeah, was not reading theirs, but did notice they had been posting a lot more. Bigger team helps I’m sure, and guessing none of them had the hard time answering the initial question that I did. Not sure how helpful following their examples would be in figuring out what to start with. But right now we are just trying to figure out stuff we really do or do not want to be part of the world.
  9. Jumi had not ignored Mitsuko’s previous mention of the paws, she of course intended to give Mitsuko’s things she wanted as well, but her mind was focused at the moment. Hard not to, at such an unusual opportunity, to feel something special and as she previously mentioned, what might even be something that had never happened before. Since Mitsuko seemed to like the idea, that only fueled it more. No reason as far as she knew to worry about it. Still a small chance of convincing Mitsuko to agree with her idea of asking Maxim, more likely checking with Shinigami later. Less likely to work, but Jumi tried to be optimistic about it. “Well, yeah, might feel weird to have one too. Sure I won’t have it every time. But, have to see what it feels like. May give it to you just like you hope for.” She said, referencing Mitsuko earlier saying she wanted it hard. “Might be interesting to hear how different you think it and the toy are after trying both.” She said. Her fingers teasing now, but not entering. For Jumi it would be a big difference, but she wondered how Mitsuko would compare them. “Should be safe too, like with Shinigami. If it comes from her. Suppose there would maybe be risk, if we prayed for it.” A thought she had not considered until now. She was not sure if a bigger change would come if from Shinigami. With Maxim doing it, it was more likely to be genuine enough to have a risk. “Maybe something to think about someday in the future.” She mostly joked, but slightly teased. Having mentioned in the past she was in no rush to cross that line, no rush to become a mother, or a father as might technically be possible in this case. Umi began getting dressed, it seemed the most practical thing to do whatever she decided to do. “I will at least show you to where they are, as I said I would.” That gave them a few minutes to clarify things before she made the final choice. It was a troublesome choice, she was conflicted about. “Are they in physical danger, or is something else going on?” She was not entirely sure if she was picking up on what Shinigami implied. If her going along was a risk of being hurt, or a danger of losing what they just spoke of, under less ideal circumstances. Was that woman preparing another visit, or something more subtle? She was not thrilled about that possibility, she also did not feel right ignoring a danger to Jumi and Mitsuko while they were within temple walls. It would not be right to do so. It also was not clear if Shinigami expected to return to this room when done checking on the other two. Either way, it sounded like it would be safe to at least take Shinigami to the doors of the building the other two were in. That was when she had to make the choice to follow or not.
  10. “Aw, that shyness is cute. Wonder if it will last. The longer we are together. Nymphia, Alexandrine. Probably others.” Jumi observed with some happiness. The shyness was appealing, the degree of innocence. But since Mitsuko had said she wanted to go further, Jumi had to wonder how long it would last. Would Mitsuko eventually be the one to initiate it, with some girl that appealed to her? It was an interesting thought. ”Just you two then, assuming I can hide it from others.” There was the question of how it would work. How long it would last. She was curious. Jumi would pull the discussion away from random women. But she would keep Mitsuko’s thoughts on what they might do later. “Let’s try this then. If I had it now, where would you want it? Maybe here?” Her her hand slipped between Mitsuko’s legs, fingers teasing the inner lips, but not penetrating. “Maybe in back? Your mouth? Don’t be afraid to be honest. I want to know what you want, if we get the chance later.” Umi considered everything Shinigami said. Considered what she had believed to have been at least somewhat arranged. She was surprised at being picked up, that might complicate things, prevent some of what was suggested. She did not resist. “If you believe it is important to check on them as soon as possible, it is probably for the best. Though I suppose if we are going this way, I best get dressed or covered quickly. That said, excitement as you say may be more complicated. There is an ideal time and place.” She was open minded to it, but Jumi may have had the best idea, doing it here, alone or mostly alone. She had not cared whether Nall was present or not. But, perhaps not others. It was a still something of a special moment, even if she was being somewhat casual about that. It would be up to Shinigami, if she continued on, or dropped Umi onto the bed. She would not complain about either choice. But she might not be as eager if Shinigami suggested doing it in another place, especially with other eyes on her, after checking on her. Of course, if it was not too long or too much trouble, Shinigami could always bring her back after that was done.
  11. Believe it is just going to be the three of us. Probably not likely to have anyone switch over, unless if they really like what we come up with, more than what they are doing. Assuming any of them read along with what we are doing. Though we have to develop more before that could happen. I’d fine with either the three of us, or someone switching over. I was wrestling between the basic setting ideas as well, but steampunk could be fun. Having nonhumans might make ours more distinct, whether any of our characters or not, and I don’t make ours a little more distinct (maybe, though again, I have not read what they are doing since the split).
  12. I told Isabella privately, but yeah, I am still up for this if both you Dreams are. I haven't been following team 1 since the split, just see they have been discussing more, so I don't know everything they are up to but we can make our own thing. Though I still don't have much for suggestions of what I really want to see, maybe what Dreams wants and what you do with your character will help.
  13. I have not been adding to setting stuff as much as I thought I might, but yep. Me and Chiyako are waiting on Gard (no update on that yet, still looks like, hopefully early, October). Dai will be ready whenever it is his turn again, give Dreams and you a chance to write first.
  14. I'll see eventually about getting at least a little more in on Azreal's thread too at some point. Ought to let him have a little fun before he gets stopped.
  15. Guess we will start with this, while I think about things I really want. I expect I would probably agree with it, but more checking where the line is on cartoony or not, is probably good to have everyone on the same page. I do like Steampunk as a concept, but have only read/experienced a little of it, so good to get at least a general idea of the sort of technology you/we are thinking. Especially if we push more in that direction than Wild West or have characters connected to it.
  16. Not sure if I have much to say in that area. Rather open minded, I would be surprised at this point if there is anything I strongly don't like. Will keep thinking about anything that falls in the strong like area, but not sure yet if there is anything will fall into that category, rather than just things that fall more into I think it is cool category.
  17. Poll is up. I will keep an eye on this for new votes. See who/how many many vote. Give it some time. Again, this is a long term project, so won't rush into a choice, unless maybe a whole lot of people I enjoy writing with pick one option. Even then, that will just make me choose one to pick reading more quickly. Will take some to read and figure it out, especially I am a GM rather than player. Broke it up into three questions, whether you want to play as a player, GM, and if you are already familiar with the system. https://ecchidreams.com/community/topic/9930-poll-satais-library-of-mostly-unread-ttrpg-which-would-you-be-interested-in-playing-gm-or-player/
  18. I briefly discussed this on the General Discussion thread. Over the years I have picked up a library of TTRPG books. Some I have had since childhood, some more recent acquisitions. I did read some of the childhood collection for fun, mostly reading the lore/player options/treasures/monsters sort of thing. But never played any game like this (though as of writing this I am preparing to get into one that is not part of this list). Dipping my toes into actually playing this sort of game. I decided to see how popular the books I had were, whether people were interested in playing them. This is not a short term project. This will take me some time, to read up and see how practical playing them are. Will see about giving vote options for playing as GM or player for each. Already being familiar with the game system is a big plus, but at that phase I don't consider it a requirement. If you aren't, will try to figure out the best way to bring you in later, as I figure things out (or we try to figure it out at the same time). People who already played in RPs with me are also a big plus, and may possibly influence the final decision, but the poll is open to everyone. I'll break it up into several questions. One for if you like the idea of playing as a player, one for being the GM, and one to let me know if you already are familiar with any of the systems. Copying list, with small notes I wrote on the other thread: 1st edition AD&D (a few corebooks and one setting box), plus a few 2nd edition setting boxes. MERP (Middle-Earth Role Playing), big mix of 1st and 2nd edition. AD&D 1st edition and some of the MERP was the part that was originally my dad's, but I built on the MERP. Rolemaster. Core books. Could maybe be called Advanced MERP, without the MERP built in (though it is compatible with MERP, and MERP books have stats and such for using with Rolemaster but can also be played with a few other settings or player invented settings). Mekton. A anime-mecha inspired system, setting invented by the writers. A more recent acquisition. Have not read much of it. Star Wars (West End Games). One I read quite a bit as a kid, developed at a fun point in franchise history, before the prequels were made. An early developer of the old "Legends" expanded universe. I had actually made a club dedicated to this. But without much interest, deleted it since I needed to free a slot to take over a different one. Babylon 5 (D20 system). Based on a (semi?) obscure sci-fi TV series in the 90s, source of 'Satai'. Bought the full set, should be fun to at least read at some point. Dune: Adventures in the Imperium. Game based naturally on the book series of the same name (like I said in the last post, a whole lot of licensed setting books, the ones that aren't are the exceptions). Maid: The Role-Playing Game (one of the few exceptions to that, along with Rolemaster and potentially AD&D). Single book focused on exactly what the title implies (though I believe there are some other options to play). Tenchi Muyo! RPG and Resource Book. Single book, based on the anime of the same name. One that has grown much more obscure with age.
  19. I am not sure if we are just supposed to be listing our own ideas for now, or discussing each others too and other things. I still don’t expect anything to fall under no for me. The above works for me if Isabella and the rest of the group thinks it works. That sort of group for the characters works for me too, might help me cut down on the list of character types I was thinking between. But a surprising number might still fit, will work my way down to a single choice as we finish up the details.
  20. Might make a separate topic in the club with a poll and link to it here when it is done. Since in theory it could lead to setting something up here someday. Though who votes might be as important as how many vote, and I know a number of them might be tricky for people to get into if they don’t already have books/familiarity themselves, especially ones that are long out of print and/or have a bunch of books. But I like polls and might be interesting to see results.
  21. Will see about getting a response with some thoughts in tonight, whether starting the conversation, or building on the replies of others (a chance I will be able to during the day, but can’t guess how likely it will be). Office closing a little early today, that might help.
  22. Figured I would check. The system as I seem to understand it does seem to be built around characters sticking together, and it not being as easy for a character to wander from one group to another, but figured I would check before group 2 really gets to figuring out its world and if/how different it is.
  23. Unfortunate it is impossible to create polls in the middle of topics on EcchiDreams. If it was, might have made one to test interest in what I should read (preparing either as a GM or player) and maybe see how practical it would be start/help start. Not something that would happen anytime soon, but maybe a someday project. Though if I do find myself with a free slot again, may someday recreate the Star Wars club.
  24. I guess one more thing worth clarifying there on this thread. Guessing the groups are permanent then, barring any unexpected emergencies forcing people to drop out (hopefully everyone there is committed to sticking through it, unless something like that comes up)? Assuming it isn't trouble for you, two worlds could work in that case. Don't have a problem with it if that is the case. Just figure someone getting shuffled around is the most important reason we might want to keep it to one world.
