  1. I have a thought about the kaiju but, but yes we can add Strange Evidence of New Kaiju Breeds, My thought is this: The Hive is starting to build "disposable" settlements where they forcibly resettle people in high risk kaiju zones so they can broadcast the destruction and justify big, new military investments. All of which will be used to eliminate the Liberation Union. I have tentatively set the squad in the South Eastern Command Sector (because I'm super clever and that leaves us with LUST of the SECS). So, the SECS Commander (who, for those fans of late 80's sleaziest hair metal, should be named Zodiac Mindwarp) probably needs some definition. Much as I love the Love Commando, their name is NOT Zodiac Mindwarp, I think we'll go with Magda Payarkoon. She was born to pilot a frame. I feel like her mom took over her father's Frame after he was assassinated by a Hive Murder Squad - while she was pregnant with Magda, so Magda has felt the presence of a Frame's mind her whole life - which makes her kind of short with people who don't quite get it right off. Is that suitable? Refinements? Additions? More Details? Anyone or anything else we need.
  2. Newbie or no, the whole point of the club is to share/play. Don't be shy. Iron Crown's highest achievement was Claw Law, Spell Law and City State of the Invincible Overlord, in my opinion - I never played their take on Middle Earth though. The current One Ring from Fria Liga is REALLY good, I'll take all versions of Champions (although I'm not a fan of Hero - there are better ways to do fantasy of whatever). I concur on Ars - the setting kind of sucks, but damn those magic rules are brilliant. And, welcome. Probably should have lead with that.
  3. I actually like the idea of having it be a stunt or a skill bend, just because it makes it rarer and more magnificent. I think that for a pilot, combat is always through the shared sensory input from the Frame's senses - otherwise the pilot can literally see only the inside of the cockpit (which, in this particular setting, is an especially accurate turn of phrase) Unrelated; should we move the FATE discussion to the FATE of The Liberation Union Strike Team thread?
  4. I've been trying to decide if we want to go through Game Setup as well. I feel like most of this is done, but are there any specific game Aspects or NPCs we think we need to formalize? Are we content with the Current Threat being Increasing Hive Attacks?
  5. Part of character creation in FATE is called the Phase Trio - which @WickedCadrach has started, Each character sketches out and adventure of starting point (the first phase) and the other players come back and get involved in it in some way (the second and third passes), There's a more detailed breakdown here, at the FATE SRD. It's really easy though - tell us something about what your mechanic did and what the big picture of the character is (high concept aspect - WickedCadrach's is Silicon-hearted mech hacker. So, when she's involved in electronic warfare against Frames or drones, she can spend a FATE point to invoke the aspect for a +2 on her roll. But I, as the GM, can compel Emily to fail a Sex roll with the same aspect (due to her cold, aloof nature) by offering her a FATE point. She doesn't HAVE to take it, but, if she doesn't she'll pretty quickly run out of FATE points. Your mechanic might have a High Concept of something like Mech mechanic with a heart of gold. You can invoke it to get a bonus on fixing Frames and I can compel it to make you hesitate when it comes time to do violence.
  6. I think your mechanic should be like a combat medic for the BioFrames. One part Healer, one part Mechanic. You are never far from the action and can jump in when a Frame needs help. When the Strike Team disables a Hive frame, you're nearby and can jailbreak it
  7. Is Silicon-hearted something more than just cybernetic? It feels like it might hint at a fondness for the relative permanence of machines, do I have that right?
  8. I feel like the BioFrames' urges would be more primal, almost feral. A pilot might try to urge their frame to a more romantic, erotic encounter. If the relationship is good, the frame will enter those strange, restrictive spaces, just like the pilot will be will to engage in raw, primal rutting. I don't think I made it clear that I think the idea of these shared fantasies, or virtual sexual encounters, is a great thing. I do think the actual tentacle interface can be gratifying as well, but the pilot and BioFrame have enough Synch (+2 or +3?) they can transcend to that shared dream space. While there, they can, in addition to have sex, use the synchronicity to fight especially effectively, allowing them to use Synch instead of Fight or Shoot.
  9. Which dynamic feels silly? The whole mech x pilot thing? Yeah, i guess it kind of is. My thought was that it's some kind of tentacle arrangement that forms the interface, but with the neural blockers deactivated it becomes sexual. But I hadn't really thought much about the how. Thoughts, anyone?
  10. I don't think this is as dependent on player interactions as Bluebeard. It will be vastly improved by more players, but not pointless; which single player Bluebeard would be. So I don't see any reason not to make a character and drop in. I don't have an issue with @DreamsnThings dropping in every now and again to jail break a Hive Frame and dip her toes in FATE waters. I just had a thought. I like the mechanic being the first person to have sex with jail broken Frames. I think we give her a stunt like "I know it's your first time"
  11. FATE is very focused on story and doesn't use a set array of attributes. Instead the main feature of characters are Aspects. Aspects are defining phrases about Why things matter. Lots of things in FATE have Aspects but characters have 5. The basic guidance for Aspects is: Say more than one thing, be double edged and keep the phrasing simple. One of my favorite example of this is instead of saying "Computer Genius" change the Aspect to "Nerdy McNerdson" because Nerdy McNerdson implies computer genius, but adds a layer of potential awkwardness, potential distraction by cool gizmos and some knowledge about roleplaying games and/or comic books. "Hot shot BioFrame Pilot" doesn't say nearly as much as something like "Maverick's got nothing on me". Supporting Aspects are Skills. They're what generally gets things done. Everyone has all the skills, just at different ratings. Each character gets one skill at +4, two skills at +3, three skills at +2 and five skills at +1. Normally FATE give 4 skills at +1, but since we're adding a skill to the list, we'll add one slot so the number of +0 skills is still 7 Skills work by adding their rating to the result of 4 FATE dice. They have an equal chance of rolling +1, 0, or -1. Roll dice, add skill, 0 is a mediocre success. 8 is "legendary" The skills are: Athletics - agility and speed Burglary - pickpocket, forgery, security systems Contacts - who you know and how good you are at networking Deceive - lie, disguise and misdirect Empathy - reading people, especially emotionally Engineering - making and fixing stuff Fight - melee Investigate - ask questions, search for clues Lore - history, general knowledge Notice - our friends in D&D call this Perception Physique - strength and toughness Pilot - operate a vehicle, car, boat BioFrame, fighter jet Provoke - getting under people's skin to get them out of their game. Not quite intimidate. More like annoy. Resources - not just wealth, but what you can get ahold of by knowing where to look Sex- building Synch with your mech or otherwise using sex to achieve mechanical effect on the game Shoot - yep, that Stealth - sneak, hide, move silently Will - mental toughness There are some other things to know, but for the moment, that and a list of skills should be enough to get the character creation chat started. Or, @WickedCadrach, do we want to use the three phases?
  12. The world isn't exactly broken - well, it doesn't look broken, although it really is in terrible shape. But, you have to look hard to see it. Part of the reason you have to look so hard, is there was no single point of failure. No catastrophe. Rather is was a slow cancer that consumed the world in the guise of protecting it from kaiju. The all - encompassing tumor is The Hive. It's the government, the corporations that keep it solvent and the deadening, soul drinking, human powered machine that keeps the elites wealthy, drunk on power and fat on the flesh of the masses. And even its name is a lie. Hives are egalitarian, efficient and just. The Hive is none of those things. The public's food and drink are all laced at the source with emotion blockers that act as a lifelong chemical lobotomy. It makes them easy to control and unable to muster the outrage to fight back against the manipulative, exploitive society that's been crafted for them. Their military is a vast array of biomechanical warmachines called BioFrames. They're 10 meter tall humanoid monstrosities piloted by soldiers drafted at by lottery at 16 and given a hardwired emotion dampener that can be switched to aggression by their commanders. These mechs are grown from edited kaiju DNA over control circuits, weapon armatures and dermal plating, Outside the bland arcologies and mega cities, in the few remaining wild places the Liberation Union have fought a long slow war against the might of the Hive. The Liberation Union is far smaller and has almost none of the industrial might of the Hive, but they do have all their wits and pilots that love their mechs, And each other. These squads of pilots and their bonded mechs are far more capable than those of the Hive, despite using very similar technologies. The E-gates that control the Hive soldiers are supported by neural blocks in the BioFrames to keep the pairs from bonding. LU Strike Teams have no such inhibitions. The physical and neurological interface between BioFrame and pilot can be intimate, even sexual, and by embracing that, the LUST are far more effective. We'll be using FATE to run this game, FATE is collaborative so we'll work out character and game parameters together, I'll get a mechanics guide posted soon.
  13. I think we have everything we need. Shall I start a new discussion thread for South East Command Sector, Liberation Union Strike Team? Just run with a basic pyramid, and run through character creation? Maybe formalize game creation a little?
  14. I think we go with the Gear aspect(s) solution at the outset. We can always "tear off" the gear aspect from a character and create a new character for the mechs later. And I think the combination of Imperial (we'll need a new name) pilots having "hardware gates", citizens' food supplies being laced with emotional dampers and their mechs having neural blocks installed works. Do we just add Sex as a skill? Or, between pilots, it happens in the fiction and we add a Mech Sex skill to cover mech intimacy with a bonus to the roll for the fiction?
  15. I like the idea of a Stress track for Synch, but I propose it run from, -5 to +5. As the pilot and mech become more intimate they gain Synch, if they lose Synch it decreases. Stunts as a pair get the value of Synch. (Scales may be off - unexpected plumbing project is eating my time) I like the idea that freeing mecha is one drive of the rebellion. Does anybody remember the old Christian Bale movie, Equilibrium? Law requires emotion blockers for everyone to help ensure compliance - is that how the government works? Mech's having limited ability to act on their own (provided they do not have a neural inhibitor) makes a lot of sense. That's in. Another question, since wrenching pipes makes thinking about game mechanics difficult, how much detail goes into the Gear Aspect of the mechs? Or, are they characters unto themselves that are dar more effective with a pilot partner?
  16. FATE it is. Let me pull my rules and solidify my approach. Ya'll keep working that setting lore. Here's my thoughts. I love the idea of the mecha feeling interpersonal tension between the squads' pilots. It might encourage some pilot x pilot action, but "Careful with that mic, Weezy." the mecha can get jealous... Which raises the issue of measuring cohesion. I think we need a metric for squad cohesion and the intimacy between mech and pilot. Thoughts? The enemy are both Kaiju and the oppressive regime. The Kaiju are forces of nature, not quite malicious but extremely dangerous. Hurricanes you can punch. The government mecha have neuro inhibitors installed to keep them loyal to the military rather than the pilots. But they can be jail broken.
  17. My online RP days go back to the age of IRC... Glad I'm the sexy kind of old. Seriously, is there interest in Sex Mecha? Somehow it feels like the thing to do is drive right at sex as what powers the mechs. Say they're biomechanical constructs, grown for war. But the most powerful pilots are REALLY connected to their mechs. Your mech does have to want you in it, like that, to work but if it does the pilot and mech get the mystical, one mind, one body such power. Only the best pilots (who, of course, are the rebels against the corrupt government) know that the mechs can feel like that.... FATE or Savage Worlds?
  18. I am a long time resident of rpol.net - which while not as actively sexual as ED, it does permit explicit content
  19. Welcome! This club has gone through several unsuccessful iterations, and I'm trying again. Any of you you joined the club, please chime in.

  20. There was - I think I posted it originally around 2020. @LeonaFair was one of the people in it for a while, but it never went anywhere and she deactivated her account years ago. I reused the club to create the Expanse idea that also died. I really ought to quit with the games and just write porn - seems to be where I can add the most value. Actually, I just had a moment of clarity. I think I tend to leave things too open and want too much discussion to get buy-in. I wonder if the thing to do is just put the mechanics in place, post a blank character sheet and set up the first scene.
  21. The GURPS crack was me playing - I actually don't like the game much, but not because of the crazy crunch, but because I had been playing Champions for years by the time GURPS was released. Sex as a skill would be the smart play for any of the FUDGE derived systems, but I'd probably argue that the swingy, combat focus of Savage Worlds might make it the better choice for Mecha - the Rifts hack gives us a pretty clear path for how to make that work well. I backed FATE's kick starter and have a ton of the Worlds of Fate, but can;t think of a particularly good implementation of mechs. Interface Zero was ported to FATE and that seemed to work fairly poorly for the mechs. I've always thought that in a play by post setting FATE would work exceptionally well, but there's kind of a meta game conversation that has to be negotiated as Aspects are declared and Stunts occur that would require a separate thread. I haven't played a ton of FATE but am inclined to make this a more serious discussion as an excuse to give FATE a go in a PbP environment.
  22. My system answer tends to be Savage Worlds because I like how ridiculously "swingy" it is. FATE, PDQ or FUDGE are all equally viable though. Question is, are sex skills rated and how do they break down? Or GURPS. That shit's the answer to everything.
  23. Guilty. Two of my three ear piercings have healed over, but the one I did first, just jamming a starter stud through it is still open. Next poster likes buying jewelry for other people, but wears very little.
  24. It's not just D&D - it's the entire fantasy thing. Ars Magica, various hacks, alterations and alternate rulesets to achieve the same thing... Bluebeard's Bride may have been a bad choice - thematically it kind of fits, but it's very bounded by it's themes. It's kind of the mental equivalent of gaming bondage, maybe. Back to the drawing board... Mecha and futa alien pilots anyone?
  25. I actually have a terrible record with suggesting games. The Expanse flopped miserably. Black Crusade as well. The pirate thing happened for about 4 posts. It may be that anything beyond pretty broadly popular fantasy stuff, interest is low, but I keep hoping to get something else running.
