Our Notifications area is where you can control what type of notifications you receive and how. You can also subscribe and unsubscribe from our mailing list (More information below) in just two clicks/taps. It's not important to change these settings as its defaults pretty much serve most peoples needs. However if it doesn't serve your needs, by all means you can edit them.
    Difficulty: Fairly easy.
Tutorial Format: Text and Video (1 Minute 15 Seconds)
Steps Required: Depends on what you want to do
What options do you have for your notifications?
There are two methods of receiving notifications, through the In-line notification list (Located at the top, as the globe icon, next to +Create) or as an email. If you find you're getting too many emails from EcchiDreams you can dial this back. Some the settings below will not allow you to have In-line notifications on site or, for other things email notifications, for obvious reasons. Take EcchiTexts for example - you can't have a notification on site, because it's handled by the EcchiText system. You do however have the freedom to receive an email when you get a message, or to not receive an email.
    Profile
Someone follows me Someone posts on my profile Someone replies to a status update I posted, is on my profile, or I have also replied to Someone I follow posts a new status. EcchiTexts
I receive a message I am added to a conversation General
New content for things I follow Someone comments on something I follow Someone reviews something I follow Someone I am following makes a post Someone quotes a comment or post I made Someone mentions me in a post Someone 'likes' something I posted Pokes
Someone pokes me. Deactivating your account will freeze notifications. In-line notifications are automatically deleted after six months; read or unread.
    Mailing List Information
In accordance to our Privacy Policy we will not and nor do we plan on ever sharing, selling, giving, or otherwise passing on your email address to any other party. We don't actually send emails out all that often, and the current rate is about one a year, give or take.
To unsubscribe from the mailing list doesn't unsubscribe you from receiving notifications. To do that you will need to alter the other notification settings.
    What are browser notifications?
Browser Notifications only work whilst you're on EcchiDreams in a browser window. But if you're doing other things, and you're waiting for something on EcchiDreams, the desktop notification will alert you - off the site. This for example is an EcchiText sent by @Neptune, the subject of which is 'Can I ask a favour?'

    Step Three.
    Save.

By Wolfie, in Account Settings and Control,

If you're going to be away temporarily you might want to consider putting your account into "Away" mode, be that for illness/holiday/study or just plain taking a break. When you set yourself to away it will display as such in your profile and "Hover Card".
Difficulty: Might take a few minutes.
Tutorial Format: Text and Video (30 Seconds)
    Steps Required: 2-4
    Step One.
First you'll want to go to your account settings, by clicking/tapping on your username at the top of the screen, between your avatar and "+ Create", when you see the drop down menu select account settings.  Or you can skip this and step two; and just click or tap here.
    Step Two.
Along the tabs find the suitcase with "Leave of Absence" and click/tap it.
    Step Three.
First you will need to slide/click the button that says "Enable Leave of Absence" and to then fill out the rest of the form. The Duration field will take 1 day minimum and 60 days maximum, if you need more time, just reset it and you can extend your downtime. The "Reason" is mandatory because this displays in your profile.

    Step Four.
    Save.
To disable Leave of Absence (Say you're back earlier than expected) just slide the slider to disabled and save.

Firstly there's a difference between Deleting and Deactivating an account. Deactivating an account means you can come back at any time and re-activate your account, deleting your account will mean you will need to create a new account when you want to register. There are a few caveats though, for example deleting an account is an option open to new members who have never posted anything before, even then there is a grace period of 14 days (in which you can change your mind), once the timer runs out, the account will be completely deleted, as if you never registered.
If you have posted, made a status, replied to a status, commented on something or uploaded a picture; then only option available to you is to "Deactivate" your account, you should not receive any more emails or notifications from EcchiDreams whilst your account is deactivated, however because it's not deleted you can re-activate your account whenever you like.
    Difficulty: Not difficult.
    Tutorial Format: Text
Steps Required: 5-6 for Deleting/Deactivating Accounts, 2 for reactivating accounts.
    Deactivation:
    Step One.
First you'll want to go to your account settings, by clicking/tapping on your username at the top of the screen, between your avatar and "+ Create", when you see the drop down menu select account settings.
    Step Two.
Under "Other Settings" on the same tab click/tap "Deactivate My Account"

    Step Three.
If you have zero content submitted to EcchiDreams you can choose between 'Deactivate Account' or 'Delete Account', if you have content on EcchiDreams you shouldn't see the option to delete the account. In this case we are going to deactivate the account.

    Step Four.
Read this screen carefully, as the actual version may have text that reads differently from the screenshot. Once you've read it side the button below that confirms you've read it and click/tap 'Deactivate my Account' to begin the security requests.

    Step Five.
You will be presented with a lightbox that asks you to put in your password. If you can confirm that you're on:  because if you're not - You're not on EcchiDreams. Once you've verified you're the account holder, you can choose to add an optional reason as to why you'd like to disable your account, but as it's your business and not ours. You can ignore it and click/tap 'Submit and process request'.

If you are presented with this roadblock - it means we'd like to take a second form of authorisation from you first:

    Step Six (If Roadblocked).
If you are roadblocked just load the email client up, find the email (Always do_not_reply@ecchidreams.com via (something).mandrillapp.com)

    Delete Account:

In this case we are going to delete the account.

Once you've verified you're the account holder, you can choose to add an optional reason as to why you'd like to delete your account, but again as it's your business and not ours.

After this is submitted it will go through manual review (To make sure the account is eligible for deletion, and because things like this by Policy go through manual review, now).

After it's approved you'll see, you will not need to do anything further, unless you want to abort deletion:

When the 13/14 days are up you'll see this email, the final one from EcchiDreams unless you register again confirming that this has been done for you:

    Reactivate Account:
    Step One.
    Goto:
    Step Two.
If you're not logged in, log in, once you are logged in if you weren't already, you'll see this:

Just click "Reactivate My Account" and it's done.
