I've been RPing with him for a year and i think its time to put a nail to it with this review.

In my perspective, Reven act like an observer who watch over how the RP progress and giving a proper reply that perfectly match with the story. To add more commendable performance, he also has an idea when the RP got stuck; you just need to ask. He also know how to treat a scene without killing his character. He can be serious-cocky, full time serious, but most of all, romantic. I don't know why but when we hit romantic/smut scene in RP, i know i'm in for good time ❤️

How he treat me as RP partner is also worth noting. He won't mind sharing his idea in case we get stuck, take an OOC question seriously, and understand when IRL business get in the way. I don't think i need to say anything more to describe him as "good fellow" at this point🤭

On personal note, i think he's the only one who RPing with me with such style. So glad we manage to keep RPing for a year ❤️

Absolute sweetheart and a delight, Reven pays attention to what his partner is saying and wanting. Lovely partner.

    Response from the author:

Thank you I genuinely do my best for my partners. One thing i certainly do best is consider what the characters want even saying!  But I also thank you for being such a lovely partner aswell! ⸜(ᶿ᷇ധᶿ᷆)⸝

I'm updating my review after 3 years. We've had many more RPs together and I feel like the review update is necessary. Still 4 out of 5 stars, but I have a lot more to say.

Reven is a good friend to me and we communicate pretty well. His characters are fun and interesting to me, but our RPs tend to fall flat. This may be partially my fault, as I am not HUGE on story development and such, but there are some pointers I want to make for Reven and writing with them (hopefully Reven sees the update as I also want the update to help them improve. )

    1.  Content in the reply.
📰 | I think that this is the major issue I have in our RPs. When I write something to Reven for an RP, be it a starter or reply, I find that if I write too much stuff, he just mirrors what I say and adds a little bit of his own.
There are many times where my replies do not bounce at all off his because I don't want my words being repeated back to me just written a little different. It makes the flow of progression impossible for me, and I find that all the content I really get from it is the last or first sentence of the reply.

🩹 | This can be prevented by reading what your partner says and responding to the last sentence and progressing forward, rather than replying to everything that your partner writes. Since our RP replies are roughly a paragraph each, there isn't a need to reply to every single thing written. Just the last part. Don't be afraid to move the story forward with your responses. Don't force yourself to wait for your partner to move the story forward because this might just cause you to get stuck in the same scene for way longer than necessary. I don't remember this always being a problem, but it has come up a lot in our current RPs and makes me get stuck in replying, or I just lose motivation.

    2. Character knows too much details that aren't spoken.
📰 | There are things that I want to write in detail, but then find that not everything of what I wrote was supposed to be obvious to the characters involved. It's like, I write something that is meant to be clear to us as writers, but not the characters outright. I do not like the idea of hiding details from my RP partners just because I don't want their characters knowing certain things, but at the same time I don't want to have to add in parenthesis "this isn't meant to be obvious" or "but y/c doesn't know this"...
I had an incident recently where my character reacted poorly to a certain thing that happened, and Reven's character seemed to know that she was upset because of that thing, but it doesn't make sense from a story standpoint. If the character knew this, why did he do it in the first place? It wasn't a non-con or dub-con situation, it was fairly vanilla. So if it was obviously known to the character that my character wouldn't like it, why did it happen ? The only time it was hinted that his character knew was AFTER I stated it in my response, but it wasn't a spoken thing. It was via body language, but it was subtle body language I felt.

🩹 | The way to prevent this or fix the problem is kind of difficult... I follow a rule that unless the characters say how they're feeling, your character SHOULDN'T know how they're feeling outright. If your character's trait is being extremely intuitive, then just ask before this happens. Some characters have secrets NO ONE can tell, or there may be a misunderstanding through writing. I don't like to have to send a message every time there's a reading error, so sometimes I just cut my losses and accept the outcomes, but it's not something I enjoy having to do regularly.

These are the two big issues I have when writing, and how I think they can be resolved. Again, Reven is a very good friend, communicative outside of RP and cool. I do not have issues with his characters or quality of writing in our RPs, but these two details can really break my immersion when it comes to RPing.

A positive on Reven's writing is that thankfully he knows what I'm wanting sometimes when it comes to certain actions my characters will do, so he doesn't have a problem in picking up on what I'm thinking of having happen in our RP through more obvious body language. Sometimes what characters want is unspoken, and he knows how to pick up on that. This is essentially the opposite of issue 2 ( character recognizing information that shouldn't be obvious being issue 2, and this good pointer being that character/writer can recognize non-verbal desires from other characters)

Everyone has room to improve in RP, myself included, and I do my best to be honest without being hurtful or mean. Reven has the quality characters and isn't an incapable writer, so the potential for great RPs is there. Keep up the good work and hope to continue RPing with Reven.
