You know, when we talking about kids movie back in the day, we can list them all easily from Home Alone to Lion King. You name it. Some of the sequel may fell off the favor but you can bet people still refer it as good kids movie. The crazy part is if we think about it again, some old kids movie be it live action or animation do have some dark part which you may think that's too much for kids to understand. Frankly though? That's what kids movies back then is about; to tell you something that sometimes, in order to achieve happily ever after, there's always a catch. Why the Queen want Snow White dead? Why jealousy is bad? Why Scar let Mufasa die and lie to Simba? Honestly it felt that way for me when I was a kid; to see the beautiful world and it's rotten side of things. Do you think Shrek is all happy dandy? Do you think Barbie movies in 2000s is just a girl wanting to be pretty? It is, but not without set of conflict. So why do I bring this up is because there's this local family movie happening in my region, using AI at some part, but dead on the entrance. Pelangi Di Mars (Rainbow Over Mars). Yeah I know ED has movie section but I only talk movies in between than gaming so I won't gonna bother making new threads. Boy, if you think Home Alone 3 was mid and Ready Player One and PIXEL are outdated fossil, this movie may make them Oscar worthy nominee. First off, I don't mind if you use AI for assisting, heck we use AI for picture editing before OpenAI showing their ugly butt and give AI bad name, it was cool. Now in that movie, you can pretty much guess were the visual directly came from and what kind of AI anomaly happen on screens. You guess it, DEAD EYE stare for every characters saves the the protagonist...but to be real with you, even the human actor seems confused, maybe she isn't used to act on green screen? Likely so. Even during the trailer, something smell off. Remember that one time you see Harry Potter Deathly Hallow trailer and somehow lots of people glazing over it as if they already watch the movie? Or movie review site who make score as if they already got the movie before everyone else? Yeah, this is just so unreal, it's ridiculous. I didn't know this movie exist until my friend mention it and ask if this is good movie to watch along with the students. I told my coworker to at least watch the trailer, some kids movie can be quite like South Park after all. What my coworker say afterward? "It's not looking good, is this really a movie?". Now the movie is set in futuristic where you can live on Mars...for some reason. In 2090...for some reason. We can't even make space shuttle work without being too moody mid-air but hey, that's sci-fi for you. Now being imaginative is not a sin. But how the movie carry the narrative through many one-liner and jokes that is so cheap, it make dad joke and puns sounds like tear jerker. Just imagine latest movie blockbluster filled with Subway Singing Rodent meme...how long do you think the joke would last? In case you asking, the movie is about FAMILY SEPARATION, but you'll hear more jokes and Gen-Z thing than story being told. No joke, you'll see good minutes of robot dancing than curiosity about protagonist missing family. Yeah sure kids gonna chuckle in the theater, yeah sure parents just glad their kids liking it...but if all they want is entertainment, you can just put up any Disney classic or even DORAEMON movie and be done with it. What make kids movie impactful is not because of visual alone you know, the narrative must be there and it must be strong. "But Elena, narrative movie is boring!" you may say. Okay? You want VISUAL ONLY with emotion? Fine, go back a bit and watch WALL-E which btw most of it DOESN'T EVEN HAVE DIALOGUE, and emotion is all there. Heck, intro scene of UP! despite only last a minutes, it's already set a story from the get go by visual alone. And those are KIDS MOVIE btw. Compare that to this...this local...oh my god... Then of course anything always has Stan among them. Calling critic as anti-nationalist who hate local creativity? Bro, what? You guys for real? When the last time you guys watch a good movie, a good family movie, a good Christmas movie? Because I'm pretty confident, you won't watch this if there's other option. What's even more funny is, the fact that this movie released alongside TWO HORROR movie is beyond me. But considering how low tier this movie is, I guess the horror is for the locals who realize this is the highest bar of animation their countrymen can offer. Using AI, good visual, served on silver plate without the steak. Hate local creativity what the fuck!? Guys, if you see shit, would you talk about rainbow? No of course not! When it comes to taste, market never lies. Kids ain't that dumb, at least those around 8-13 years old can grasp what is good. Heck, you telling me if this movie released side by side with Shrek 2, which one do you think more appealing to their eyes? Put this movie poster alongside Finding Nemo or Cars, which one do you think they gonna choose? Bitch got lucky because not many kids movie are screened during that Holiday, or maybe it was their intention to avoid widespread flak. Now that I think about it, why the posters remind me of NO MAN SKY!? Now if some of you dreamers actually Indonesian and saw this and think, "Yeah, it underperform because it was released during Eid Al-Fitr Holiday". Fuck you, look at the other horror movie I mentioned that screened alongside this movie. Guess who hit the rock bottom both financially and critically? At least those horror movie still get some thumbs up for trying, I checked. I'm not saying that out of blue, I'm saying that because the Director just outright accuse the buzzer is the cause of the movie failing...when the movie WASN'T EVEN RELEASED! Add that with the fact those statement come when the allegation of the movie early review being sus, this is not helping! What are this guy mad about? Hey madman! If you hate your arts being criticized, then don't publicize it and keep it for yourself! Picasso... Look, I'm happy to know my country...artists make sci-fi movie, because we usually release romcom and horror mainly. I applaud them for real. But to defend it to death on wrong side of the hill like that? And to lean on bias? Yeah, you create a good looking shit, but is it a good shit that people will rent out on either YT or Netflix to show their kids? You don't have to pick what's trending IRL to be put in the movies and think it would make it relevant. Like I mention before, Ready Player One and PIXEL who rely on old nostalgia, it doesn't last much because not everyone know the old trope of 80s to millenial gaming terms. Somethings are not worth carry over. But original line, is. Just because you make movie for kids, make it with kids in mind, not toddler who can't even tell who is their mother. This movie visual may won the day...but would it still hold up side by side with other local movies that released prior? Visual eventually got outdated, but storytelling, last movie longer. Look at Lion King, look at Finding Nemo, look at Cars. If they were shitty kids movie, we all won't refer to it today to suggest to watch along with our kids because that's how it is. "But Elena! That's western kids movie from big studio-" fuck you for second time, look at Tom & Jerry 1993 movie. Look how even people back then butcher that kids movie for being bad. If you want to make kids movie, make it with kids in mind. Don't bother with what their parent think, do you think Disney give a fuck when adding kissing scene on classic Snow White in an age where boys and girl couldn't be seen together unless married? This should be on my gaming threads but since it's not exactly video game 100% I'll put this here. It's short thought anyway. So, have you heard about this...Genie 3? The AI that was promised to be able to create games of your desire be it hardcore to casual? Yeah, the news finally hits and it was funnier than court jester you can name on. And they came in numbers too. Basically the AI was supposed to be able not just generate world but also allow you to play within it with automated generated content from the Genie 3. But what you get is just a sightseeing "video" games where it was so unoptimized that you can only walk about less than minutes, low resolution texture, less than 25 FPS and nothing else. Yeah, not even MENU at all. It was crazy and even more so because whole "tech bros" invest so much in it because they think Google won't dare to screw this up or rug pull them. Bro, have you ever read Google venture with gaming space? Stadia, anyone? What make you think they can create games? With AI no less! Even Unity rip-off and shovelware game still have some gameplay to be called video game, but this? This make visual novel genre look like blockbuster! At least something will happen if you press a button!

Apparently my phone file explorer screwed itself and fail to open/recognize document. So I download Xiaomi file explorer (thank god). I just realize the screwed up file explorer is made by Google...what the hell guys!? How could you screw your own system!?
