The setting is during medieval times, fantasy or more realistic is both an option.
Layla, my character, has very recently succeeded in a scheme to usurp the region's Duke and Duchess and be the new ruler of the Dukedom. However, her rise involved many shady actions involving equally shady people, and she will ensure they are all... 'convinced'... to keep silence.
As for you, you can make a choice as to what you want to be. One of her guards? Perhabs a servant of the manor? One of the commoners seeking an audience or being arrested? Or one of the people she hunts in order to thoroughly ruin.
Men and women are both welcome, although I will say this plot has a slight preference on the hunted being women.
