Once one leaves the long and dangerous Victory Road, they emerge into a sprawling settlement nestled in the mountains. In the very centre is a large battle arena. When a person makes it this far, they battle the Elite Four before moving onto the region Champion. A trainer is able to decide which order to battle the Elites however once they start the battles they are not able to take a pause to make use of the Pokémon Centres.
