As if the meeting was important, getting cracked in the neck was a hell of a way to get sent from the engineering deck all the way to medbay. 2nd Commander, Joseph Briggs whose father, General Jason Briggs that had broke many Xenti sieges in the days of the war, was aboard the Black Star. Joseph was a soldier at heart and responsible for a variety of situations after the war such as hunting down Xenti Remnants or taking out rising powers who threatened the safety and stability of the rebuilding Earth; let them be political or military. Despite that, his time in the military, more specifically the boogymen, a Hun-

Plink! The computer system on a desk sounded as it received a new mail. Joseph's career before he came aboard the Black Star was top secret only to the director of the program, to high command of naval intelligence, and to the Captain and First Commander. No one else besides his old squad mates knew of his previous life, and to help scuttle any truth his career history was altered to that of a Marines and his service in the branch. When his director approached Joe for the opportunity he scoffed at the idea of going into space, however when it was as close to continuing a military career he took it almost immediately. Many of high command from Army, Navy, and so forth were extremely sceptical and concerned with letting an enhanced human go abroad into lord know where.

But that was at the last second just before the Black Star took off, so his departure was extremely quick and not even most of the Generals, Admirals, or whatever else had time to consider it. What was done was done, no sense in brooding over it. When the vessel had landed Joseph was on engineering helping out with something, a large and heavy crate was jostled and landed on the back of his neck. Normal humans would have been severally injured but thanks to his dense muscle and bone it only knocked him out with minimal bruising. When he came to the doctors wouldn't let him leave until they were certain he was in decent condition, amazed that he didn't have any extreme injuries. That said, he ended missing the meeting and the security breach that occured beforehand.

Sitting down and sighing, Joseph looked into the email read through it twice over, taking his time and taking sips of freshly brewed green tea. Leaning back into his seat after ten minutes, Joe contemplated going over to the Captains office to talk to him and suggest a few things on the matter... No, it was a bit late for that. No one ever really talked to him about these things let alone get his opinion, always quiet and watching, assessing the situation instead of jumping the gun. He couldn't consider anyone a friend, nor could he rely on anyone for simple small talk either. This ship was truly a boring one, just the usual check-ups on stations and gauging the various systems of the ship, checking up on people, etc. etc. He spent a lot of time between the bridge and the entirety of the Black Star.

Still, he had nothing better to do but "recover" from his incident, something he only got a sore neck from...
