[Open] The paper trail.

In her head, it was faint voices and laughter. She rose the camera to take a photo before she lost her footing and stumbled- and then suddenly there was nothing.

--

Nothing but a low hum that woke her up from a long, long darkness, and a pounding in her head. Her body was heavy and sluggish with a soreness that suggested she had been laying there for some time. She shifted her position on the carpet, lightly grimacing at the weaved yet slightly moist texture against her cheek as well as the subtle yet old smell coming from the room around her. With her sight still blurry, she opened her eyes and finally welcomed the bright humming lights that woke her up in the first place. Turning off from her side she moved onto her back before pushing behind herself to sit up, her head nodding a few times as she nearly lost her balance.

Her head was ringing as if she fell, but that alone confused her since she didn’t see anything to fall from. Only an office interior with many corridors and an old wallpaper that looked as though it hadn't been changed since the place was built. The grandma-adjacent floral details were almost nostalgic, yet somehow made her feel nauseated if she fixed herself to stare at it for too long. The only other detail were the bright lights above her- and that same annoying humming. Honestly she had just woken up and it was already about to drive her crazy.

“Ugh…”

Using one of the walls for support, she managed to stand up straight and get her footing before she moved onto stretching her stiff limbs as she took in the environment around her. She had expected to recognize the place after a few seconds but… nothing came.

As she leaned against the wall to try and retrace her steps, nothing came.

As she tried to remember anything about herself- nothing came.

She didn’t panic or scream, she was just incredibly confused.
