I saw that bit but I mean can someone just play a human and then get turned into a thrall or are they that by default?

I'm not sure if this has already been asked but how to thralls get masters? Is there a slave market? Or are they kidnapped or do they have a normal choice? Just curious as I am considering a character to make. ._.
