   The crest of Xidonia is a mark she places on those she forces into servitude. It has a wide variety of uses such as preventing pregnancy in female servants, forcing loyalty through fear, and making sure servants do not leave Yamatai.  When the crest activates on an individual it causes their nerves to transmit the sense of pain to the brain. Thus making the affected on feel agonizing pain immediately and continuously until the crest deactivates.
