The Challenge Write a short story (max 2,000 words) set in a "-punk" genre like steampunk, cyberpunk, dieselpunk, biopunk, bugpunk, resistorpunk, nanopunk, clockpunk, etc. that is focused on either: 1. the invention that sets your world on the path to being the "-punk" world it is OR 2. an everyday use of the genre-defining technology by someone who simply accepts it as normal. Post your story as a reply in this thread. Please limit this thread to entries for this challenge. If you have questions or comments, please post them in the Discussion thread. I'll post a poll to vote for winners after the deadline. Deadline1 point

Uncertainty It was typical of Laetitia to make a theatrical show of it. The stage dressed as if for a gala performance: the tables set with glittering crystal glasses, silver service; the long buffet tables groaning with exquisitely presented food. The only concession to Science is the Portal - and even that has a frame of glittering silver so that it looks more like a mirror than the engineering marvel that it is - though now its mirror clarity is gone, shut off, and only its dull grey real surface gleams softly in the chandelier lights. Typical also of Laetitia to steal the glory for herself. To be fair, in many ways it1 point

Based on your ideas, how's this for an either/or challenge: Write a short set in a "-punk" genre like steampunk, cyberpunk, dieselpunk, biopunk, bugpunk, resistorpunk, nanopunk, clockpunk, etc. that is focused on either: 1. the invention that sets your world on the path to being the "-punk" world it is OR 2. an everyday use of the genre-defining technology by someone who simply accepts it as normal. There will be a word limit, deadline, etc. Is that too open-ended?1 point

Hey! I'm interested in starting something up if you'd like, my character Lysander seems like he'd be a good fit for interacting with her. Let me know if you wanna plot something out ^^1 point

Not sure if this is the right place but here we go! I love the text app! It used to allow me to write replies without going into the chat system and revealing what I am doing as others would see me writing replies (charade is using Ecchi text) and would get upset if they had not received one from me yet. I figured out how to hide what I am doing and to disable the messenger to stop unwanted spam. I have anxiety telling people no. :[ **I write on grammarly and copy/paste to the site when doing rp replies** When I am in the mail messenger, it double spaces and when I put it in text messenger it takes away the spaces and makes it1 point

I'm glad that the work around works for you. I hope that helps long term. Have a fantastic weekend.1 point

It worked! The shift and enter key allowed me to line break in the live messenger. Thank you! I need to learn keyboard commands. ^-^; This was very helpful! Thank you so much. It is a big pain but at least I can edit it now where I used to hit enter to jump a line and it would only send instead1 point

Ah here is an example. If I copy your post and paste it here: It is formatted correctly. If I dump it into notepad: It is also formatted correctly. If I dump it into Microsoft Word: Oh dear. If I fix that and put it back on the site: Different editors define line breaks differently and I understand your pain. It sucks, especially for large posts such as the announcements and news letters that I do; or the Terms of Service for example.1 point

You can also appear offline: https://ecchidreams.com/settings/account-security/ which will hide your current activity on the site. Sadly no, not unless you can change the formatting of how your editor of choice does line breaks. I suppose you could use SHIFT + Enter/Return when editing your Document and see if that helps, but I think you'd get the same issue if you copy/pasted it into a notepad file. This is going to be down to how the different editors treat line breaks. EcchiDreams uses the CKEditor which is what is supplied by IPS, and line breaks through the CKEditor are new paragraphs not a new line. To make a new line in1 point

Hehe, thank you! I'm glad to hear that, gives a nice opportunity to have some preexisting friendliness between the pair. Now, the question is, might there be any particularly strong monsters lurking around these days? I only ask because Gideon might need to visit The Woman On The Beach and ask her for some particularly strong blessings. Some blessings that might just take an entire night of companionship to take effect~!1 point

News about Yuji Naka and Doom OST fiasco. Just another life lesson to learn that you can be as successful as much as you want, but without dignity, you're not exactly in position that anyone would envy of or bother to takeover. Ever.1 point

The witch's grin never ceases to light up her face as the tall, handsome man encourages her further. She would stand up and waddle a few steps until sitting down in the seat beside his, placing her at 90 degrees from him. She hops in her chair to adjust it until the angle between them was smaller and their distance even tighter as she tries to give the both of them the same perspective onto the cards being drawn and placed. Then, she begins with tossing the cards all out haphazardly onto the table and with the palms of her hands to the table she makes swirling motions to mix the cards together in a strange fashion. ooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sexy fish man uwu~. The Woman On The Beach definitely would have revealed herself to him at least a few times a month to give him blessings. Especially when going to fight ocean monsters that she thought would threaten her village.1 point

So... @IsabellaRose Utgar's Chronicles is great! I'm in there for sure. If everyone wants to do something else here, I'm up for that too. I like Microscope though and Utgar's implementation is far better than how we shoe-horned the forum to play.1 point
