well i would like to throw my hat in the ring for the "why do furries exist" justification the simple answer is in universe some people with enough money wanted something available to surgically alter their bodies to be closer to their respective ideals, leading to a chemical based venture that ultimately went south, leading to the hybridized forms people wanted... the issue is the fumes spread throughout the city where this research was being conducted infecting and altering peoples bodies at a wide scale, with the intensity of the beastification dependent on how close they were to the epicenter of this event. since then the "infected"4 points

I don't mind yuri characters at all. Keep in mind that the game premise includes sexual situations, and the core mechanics use your relationship with other PCs and NPCs as a primary trait when rolling. So if you want a lot of yuri storylines, you'll want to include NPCs that you can get involved with and see if any other PCs are up for that. I personally didn't imagine kemonoimimi in the setting, but if the group says "hell yes, let's include them!" then we can and will! Also, consider the wild west, weird west, steampunk setting, and some of the fictional works I referenced in the opening post. The Island of Dr. Moreau comes to mind. Yo4 points

To emphasise, I'm VERY into the 1880 aesthetic with wild/west steampunk feel. I'm also a bit of a Lovecraft nerd (a bit) and adventure, so I'm so in for an alternate industrial revolution and fringe society versus civilisation themed story. Apologies if I didn't answer the setting stuff but I absolutely am on board.3 points

No one would need to actually play that character, unless they wanted to, but knowing that they were out there, and what their goals were, would give me things to work with from a world-building perspective. Having a "you experimented on me" NPC out there, or a "my father made you" son of said NPC, could lead to some interesting emotional interactions.3 points

since we have a degree of control with this setting and narative i would like to make a few pitches for what @AsBloodTurnsEverCold just mentioned and see if any of them strike anyones interest, I enjoy worldbuilding so ill take a few shots. what if the "desert" that is this worlds wild west is that way due to some sort of ore that generates heat similar to coal without needing to combust, leading to longer duration steam generation in a safer more consistent method, leading to a gold rush of sorts and allowing a few interesting things -Automatons are a direct result of this process, the controlled burn of this new ore leads metal folk3 points

Oh right... Steampunk, not cyberpunk... No idea why I confused both. Unless it still applies. Well, a dog girl can still apply. She will just be mostly clueless. (And combat oriented.) I can however search for a steampunk theme as well though I doubt I will find anything. Hound on a steam powered train, escaping somewhere still sounds fun though.3 points

Not sure what Prudence Lawton's legacy is? A Google search didn't help me either. As for me, the Wild West is contemporary with Victorian Era, and so I am leaning more into that with steam punk. It's not a deal breaker just were my mind is at. Ill play a human make maybe with a mechanical arm, but nothing crazy.3 points

The animal-type people coming from one source would be a great way to add some strings interconnecting not only people in one group, but possibly both groups, even if they don't start together. I kind of mesh with either the tribe idea or the experiments idea, especially if it allows multiple people to make characters with that sort of thing. I do have a not so morally good mad scientist character who I have used before as a Vampire, which could have been a part of making something like that if that is the route people prefer. Could probably swing them as an Elf alternatively but I think if we are going to have unnatural things then Vamp3 points

Understandable. I was just saying that if that hound was going to be a thing and we want her alone, it is very doable. If I used another character befitting a "tribe" of sort, I'd need an explanation as to how they exist. I can go for many characters but my issue is that I am indecisive with things and trying to find something specific is a little stressful... I could always go simple with human too but I am poking around and see what works. I rarely do "simple". Obviously, I know there's others in the group so I try to go for something that's generally likes as well. I just tried every tags I could from western, wild west, cyberpunk...3 points

The tribe idea's issue is having to write that multiple creatures of that kind exist everywhere. And it would probably cause an issue in the "lores". But if we say "A single one was engineered from birth with human and dog dna, forged with fire then kept prisoner in a dark place where literally nobody but a select few can see her.", we have something. By this, I'm trying to not create a headache for Isabella while using the "experiment" justification for it. Anything can be created and playing god is not something new. Now, she also doesn't have to breed and reproduce and therefore, we don't have to create a whole bunch of them. She is a3 points

I don't think that we have to go with the whole package of Dr. Moreau elevating animals. I think there's room for hybridization and "corrective" surgery to create the specific look @Warning is after. The Farmer (not actually a fan of the name, but bear with me a minute) is trying (on behalf of the Army?) to create scouts with better senses like bobcats, the ability to run longer distances like wolves and other improvements to make them better at ferreting out "the savages". That perjorative used, I realize it's reductive and insulting. I don't think our game should be that, but I think that that truth can exist in it as an evil.3 points
-
One thing I'd request is that the origin of any and all animal/human hybrid type characters be the same. For worldbuilding reasons I'll need to know "why" they exist, how they were created, and where they come from. Having a limited number of them from a single source I can work with. But having them "just because" won't work for me. Because this is a shared world, so they will exist in both games, even if none of the players in the other game play them.3 points

Kemonoimimi is a broader definition to encompass more types of ears (rabbits, bear, dogs, etc) well still being 90% human3 points
-
Good to hear. Of course I don't want a character to look like a frankenstein monster so yeah. XD A kemonomimi with ears/tail would be a good start and good enough. I was already searching tags about wild west to see if I can find something. Just not sure how to mix steampunk AND wild west since even Wild Arms only had golems and scifi tech. Still figuring things out but yeah. I am also multi-player and I don't know how NPCs and settings work since I figure this is like playing a board game or dnd. BUT if I can make npcs, I will without issues. It's a thing I enjoy a lot for character interaction. I love creating an interactive environmen3 points

Well as part of Group 2 I will admit that I do think it would be best to as close to the initial idea as possible personally. The character(s) I have in mind is with that in mind (or at least I think so). I don't think personally think the presence of Animal folk would be too much of a distraction as long as the origin and reaction is suitably mad science enough (which I did think Dream's origin fit well enough though maybe not the leading happy lives part and more isolated), but push comes to it I'd rather stick as close to what was proposed cause that's admittedly where my interest is.2 points

My first post specifically said: "set in an 1880s wild west / steampunk / weird science world. Imagine someone combined the works of Jules Verne, Mary Shelley, Edgar Allen Poe, HP Lovecraft, and HG Wells, added in a dash of Nikola Tesla, a pinch of Indiana Jones (without the Crystal Skull nonsense), mixed in Billy the Kid, Wyatt Earp, Calamity Jane, Wild Bill Hickok, Annie Oakley, Doc Holliday and all the wild west tropes you can imagine, maybe added a bit of mad scientist and supernatural weird west nonsense, and dressed it all up in steampunk finery... and you're looking at the general idea for the setting." This is the kind of thing I'm talking about! I don't specifically mean things need to be "exactly" like the sources I mentioned, but give me a plot hook, a piece of history, an NPC, a setup... something I can work with. The setting is generally the "real world" of 1880s, altered with steampunk tech, and adding in some supernatural "weird west" ...weirdness, I guess. Anyone different, who looks different, etc. Is going to probably be treated as such by the settlers. Think of old western movies, tv shows, and books. People who were different were feared. Wherein Furry is concerned I'm into the minor use (animal ears/tails, etc, I think there was a term used above somewhere?) But less full anthomorphic; to clarify, that doesn't mean I'm saying 'don't out it in', just that it's something I might ask for a little naughty distance from if we go that route! Which brings me to my own likes. On that spicy side I'd love Millie to be subject to some mind alteration/mood alteration effects somewhen, with the dubcon idea (think our own game, Isabella.) In terms of world content: -Tech I can 'MacGyver' given the character premise -An AIRSHIP (just somewhere. for fun.) -Int2 points

Dang... And suddenly, we have furries (if we use that idea). It would definitely open some doors for me, if I used that idea or something. I still think that my modified embryo thing would still work for at least ONE case. But yes... Humans turned beasts, etc. (Some growing older as that from childhood etc.) Sounds like a nice lore bit for it IF we do it.2 points

I had to google what Moreau was and it's... not exactly my tastes. But the comics of it show straight furries. XD Sort of. It makes me wonder how far I can push it. (also because, tbh, I tried to search many websites for kemonomimi and it didn't exactly work as intended for what I was looking for.) I still want my character cute. Just not completely human. Something beastly would be nice. But I try to be careful not looking for what I'd call "casual furries". One good one might be the Hellhound character I had (which Satai might know about) that was sitting in an old school style bath. (Which might fit western style.) If she is an experi2 points

The one thing I want is Prudence Lawton's legacy. As for your kemonomimi, (back in my day, we called 'em cat girls) - I think the Dr. Moreau angle is completely legit. I have no issues with yuri, but it raises the question, can an Ashborn Aesthete be a man?2 points

Personally im all for animal ears and features and as im in the same set as @Warningi for one vote to allow the floof! ...with that in mind i would also love to work in some rabbit ears to my pheromancer, i have been wanting to play a rabbit folk and this sounds lovely, to me, could even "hide" them with a headband to make them look fake, like shes wearing a playboy bunny esk costume2 points

I like this grouping, to be honest. My question is. Would it ruin anything if my characters are mostly yuri characters? (as some may know that I actually write mostly yuri in general). Also, to make sure of things, I presume only humans or western fantasy creatures are allowed? None of my kind of characters, I suppose. No kemonomimi, etc?2 points

OH okay then. I mean, yeah, it's what I was thinking about, just differently. Inject something, turn someone into an anthro. Like, the basic rule here is that anthros WILL have a human past. Unless, I guess, we go the embryo path and they are born that way. During the puppy conversation, I spoke about messing up with DNA and weird science. This is why I'm really asking (as I said at first) how far I push it. As Isabella said, there has to be a reason why something is, for lore reason. I am trying to avoid headaches, hence why I tried to make it that puppy would be a lone case without pregnancy possibilities. If we just go kemono, it coul1 point

I agree but I still value to hear what WritesNaughtyStories has to say considering it affects the whole lores altogether AND it's interesting. I saw the 2nd thread. I'm just finishing up here. This is for Group 1, consisting of @MagnificentBastard, @WickedCadrach, @Chiyako, @WritesNaughtyStories, and @StarlitSiren. We're still working from the basic setup premise as described in the original "Interest Check" thread: "My favorite game system is Cortex, or more specifically, the Cortex Drama system originally developed for the Smallville RPG, improved with suggestions in the Cortex Hacker's Guide, and then brought all together in the latest version of the system, Cortex Prime. I saw that message and unlike what you think, I didn't ignore it. I just didn't know what to think of it. You'll have to forgive me because I have no idea what it means and it's probably another reason why I did not respond to it. I'm legit trying to be fair to everyone here and give everyone a fair chance to give me their opinions, working together. What I mean here is. What does hybridization and corrective surgery means in this regard? Truly trying to understand it and if it works in a way to please everyone, maybe it's a thing we can work with. I am curious to hear if it would help me find a character based on that (tags can help a l1 point

I mean, the anthros wouldn't die from it but yeah, if they were treated but stuck as what they are, it would be fine. It seems the begged theme has to be pretty dark so what if the infected were captured, cured but kept prisoner or experimented on? As someone said, giving them a happy end might not be what's looked after here. If I had such a creature, I therefore would have to live the dark reality of my fate in this regard. Just throwing ideas, of course. And yeah, the steampunk part is pretty cool. I like the character I found earlier but in such a setting, I am not sure how the character would go from dealing with such an event and1 point

Dream's idea was basically that people got transformed into beasts. How that would end would probably be realistically not well. Think "the plague". There's almost no way these people now furry monsters would not be hunted down and killed. EVEN if one survived, assuming the gritty vibes of the theme, they wouldn't become a class job. Still, there was something about animal ear/tail possible which I would not mind. I just don't want them to look like those moreau creatures with a face that only a mother can love. But if we assume that we had someone who had grown a tail or something, we probably have to assume that they wouldn't have a ve1 point

Yes, we are still talking, and nothing has been decided. That's why I was trying to clarify tone and intent. I had a vision for a game which I thought I outlined fairly well in my initial post. If the references were not familiar or seemed "ancient" then perhaps my idea is not something in which you'd be interested. I guess that's the part that confused me the most - why join a game if you don't even really understand the premise or themes involved? If you posted saying you were going to start a game based on Wild Arms, even if some of my friends were joining the game, I'd just pass it by since I don't know anything about Wild Arms.1 point

I am not TOTALLY ignorant of what you mean, though. And we're still in prep phase. Even if some seem to sound like the game is ruined before it even started, I do believe we're still talking about this and I'm also listening to what the group I was with says. Dream's idea seemed to work but then... not? I'm not sure what's going on that side. Besides, do I look like I'm trying to force something here? Let's be honest. I gave an example of a steampunk character before and asked if she was allowed or not but no clear answers was given except "It is not exactly what I envisioned." Dream seemed to be on board with some anthro or at least kem1 point

It's not necessarily an issue. It's just that I had a general idea of what kind of game I wanted to run, which I put out there with tons of references to give everyone an idea of what I wanted to run and see who would be interested in specifically that type of game using the specified rule set. So you can see where I might be slightly confused when it starts to change away from that and into something entirely different. Like I said, I enjoy being collaborative. I like anthros; I'm building a game with someone else that's almost exclusively anthro player characters. It just wasn't my vision for this particular game. I imagined som1 point

I agree with @IsabellaRose, this has drifted far from the idea that intrigued me. I came for a gritty vision of the expanding colony, the weight of technology and change as it runs against the untamed land. Where it feels we've ended up, there is no room for a nameless gunfighter to to walk into the street, spurs jingling, to face Dr. Loveless and his lightning gun to free the town from Loveless' cruel experiments. I tried to provide a framework to create the specific character morph @Warning was describing that would fit the style of story Isabella had set out, but it has been pointedly ignored. Twice. For the moment, I'll sit back1 point

I'm not familiar with any of the references, I didn't even know it was a requirement. Just thought I'd join the fun and join some people I know. That said, I'm also not trying to ruin it for others either. I just like certain character types and try to see if they can fit in. So... Is that an issue?1 point

Hey there! I've had a strong sudden craving for some race play. I don't have any set plot but I'd love to smash some kinks together to make something hot and steamy for both of us. My only thing is id prefer the female character(s) you play to be hairy, a thick bush and some armpit hair at the most but not reincarnation of sasquatch levels of body hair. I'm also looking to primarily play White males or Black males, you pick your poison and ill play it. I have a few kinks id like to see but aren't all required. The closer to the top they are the more I like it! Breeding Pubes and Pit Hair (Primarily Female) Musk Play1 point

Well, you know what they say about things nowadays. Robin Hood was a fox roleplaying a human in medieval times and it still worked (even if the thing is designed as a cartoon for children.) ALL I'm saying is that it might not be too crazy to not stick to the history as we know it. Or even to the stories as told considered how some people adapted them. What I'm seeing is that we're seeming to tap into those old novels of before our time but nothing says that they can't be modified a little. That said... Indiana Jones seem to happen in the 1930s. But yeah, I see that it's really times of colonies. I personally am not sure how much there is1 point

I mean, I have it easy on that side if the character is born out of an experiment and kept hidden for years. I will admit the decision for 1880 setting is a bit odd to me. At least according to google, trains did exist in 1880 so yay for getting ONE thing right. Obviously, I could also stick to the realism of that age but I feel like it would lack a touch of something. Like, a liiittle touch of fantasy to it. A thing I appreciated from Wild Arms as a whole since it was basically the good old wild west with a bit of ancient power, artefacts, ruins, golems and weird stuff that we could define as steampunk (for how those times made it make1 point

Funny thing is. If I used puppy, there probably wouldn't be many emotions considering the amount of air in that head. Imagine her just liking basic things like bathing until you give her a reason to fight something for sport. Only emotion I could see out of it, worse if they hurt her, would be a fiery revenge and only if their path crossed. What I said about "Her being found on a train going somewhere" is basically the sum of what she represents. Just escaping to the wind until she finds a fun thing to do in a world she knows literally nothing about. But again, just the thought when it comes to this specific character. Hello Dreamers, I am here to give this site a go for roleplay purposes. I play male characters with a wide spectrum depending on the scenario, but tends towards soft daddy doms or nerdy, shy guys. I am still new and currently exploring kinks and fetishes, so I am mostly open if you have any suggestions or ideas for play scenarios or things to try. I am mostly attracted to feminine traits, gender is not a barrier to me. I hope to find a community and likeminded roleplayers to chat with. If you want to introduce me to this site or have an interesting roleplay scenario, please send me a DM. Kind regards Sheepish1 point

With what is said so far, I'm not even sure myself what I want to do. The furry or etc idea is barely in the air so figuring if a character can be made out of it might still be too early.
