'Ello everyone! I figured I'd make a post here as I continue looking around, but I've got a number of characters that lend themselves well to all sorts of corruption and/or mind control stuff-- like (what I assume to be anyway) the cliché villain captures hero and similar stuff-- and was wondering if there is anyone particularly interested in maybe brainstorming some things up along those lines. Most of my characters tend towards the "bad" side of things but I've also got some that fall under the "good" side as well, so I'm pretty flexible on which side of things I am. I'll also throw below a few generalized ideas below here in case someone finds some interest in them instead! (I'll update the list as any come to my mind too, so feel free to check periodically if you'd like.)
- The previously mentioned villain capturing the hero (or heroes plural if you'd like to run that route, though starting off with one in either case would more than likely be easier), and decides to start dealing with the problem that has ruined a large number of their previous plans.
- A puppeteering force (think something similar to the Herrscher of Dominance if you're familiar with HoYo's stuff, focusing on *similar*) working towards taking over the world or something along similar lines, and your character has been grabbed.
- Someone (likely either a person with demonic ties or similar) quietly working towards corrupting an area into being theirs, and doing virtually anything they please. Bonus points if it is something like a church, or an organization that is firmly against "them" or "their kind".
- A situation where a muse is summoned-- either through some sort of deliberate ritual or some sort of chance event happens through sheer dumb luck that happens to pull a figure from point A to point B, with those two things being separate worlds/planes/similar things. Can go down the route of one party being forced to submit to the commands of the other through some either some sort of external force (like a contract which also serves as the whole force that pulled one to the other) or some sort of magical bindings crafted by the other (or something else, creativity is the limit), or the one that was summoned taking over things in a fit of annoyance/irritation over being summoned in the first place (or maybe they decide that they want to do something during their "stay" in a foreign place, who's to say?). Ah, and can't forget the third option of just them trying to get the summoned one home altogether; many a story has started with that premise. There is honestly a lot that can be done with this one depending on just how things go, cause like I said, creativity is the limit.
- This one is an idea I've done stuff with in the past. But an a situation where muses end up in what I can best easily sum up as an SAO-like situation, except different. They didn't necessarily end up within things of their own will (or they could, depending upon reasonings that they might have), and have to progress through a number of "zones" in order to try getting out-- and each zone has a different theme of things to deal with, leading them to either successfully move on to the "zone" after it or be stuck as "inhabitants of the zone" until someone comes along and saves them. Because while there is fun in letting that be their end fate, it is also more fun to see them have to deal with the aftermath of the effects of things and still try to keep going.
- A persona 5 style idea here where a muse or muses enter into a person's palace, or something in a similar vein, in an attempt to do... something. Reasonings be as noble as try to make them confess some sort of wrong doings they have done, little more than petty revenge for some small slight, just about anything. Except as one might expect, it is far from an easy task-- and if things go wrong, they'll get to learn just what sort of things can happen in a "world" outside of prying eyes where one individual holds all the power.
- This one can be considered connected to my third idea there, but I've also had an itch for a bit of corruption stuff. Largely involving a church (or something like that), or perhaps some sort of group of people who are very clearly on the side of "good". Basically some sort of person or people that are part of something that people largely think as immune to evil, who ends up getting targeted by that exact sort of thing, and ends up falling into its influence.
Update:
- "Good Girl goes Bad" - After witnessing a young lady tend to the injuries of some random stranger, someone sets their eyes upon her. Perhaps they were the one she helped, perhaps they were the one who injured that stranger, who knows? And who knows just what they have in mind for her? Perhaps they were smitten with her at first sight, or they want to teach her a lesson after being yelled at for what they did-- who is to say?
- "The Training/Breaking of a Deity" - It isn't often that an opportunity for one to lay claim to a deity... and yet, it appears luck has decided to smile quite greatly upon you. A mysterious individual has offered you a chance to do just that, with one of three options. A "dragon-like" girl, a girl with hair and eyes of the purest shades of purple, or what appears to be a rather feminine appearing bard; who will you choose? And what will you do with them? Their fate is in your hands.
- "A Stroll Within a Labyrinth" - A poor soul (or two) has entered a mysterious labyrinth-- be it willingly or entirely by accident-- and now must navigate its winding and changing corridors, either in search of treasure and fortune or merely escape. Will they succeed in their quest, or will they suffer at the hands of the creatures and traps within... perhaps never to leave again? Perhaps only time, and luck, will reveal that answer.
- "A New Pet/Slave" - Shady dealings and unfortunate events are far from an overly uncommon occurrence in the world-- what with slave and servant auctions frequently held and attended in the human world or similar events and raids explicitly for taking prisoners in places far darker-- and tonight is no exception. Tonight, an auction is being held with a number of "big wigs"; will it go as planned, and the vast majority of those on stage being sold to the highest bidder? Or perhaps it will come crashing down, as it is raided by darker forces that are more interested in merely taking those that they wish regardless of their position?
- "A Summoning for the Ages" - Despite his position and power, Metis is still subject to the laws that allow beings to summon demons with the proper rituals-- and that as exactly what has happened. Now the question is, did the summoner do everything exactly as they needed to for the powerful devil to be their bound servant (making him help them with whatever they want in exchange for "payment")? Or did they perhaps make some sort of mistake that will ultimately result in Metis turning the tables and binding the one who summoned him as a servant, setting the stage for him to take revenge or perhaps start lashing out at the world he has been forced into and doing Hell knows what? (I know this is pretty much a re-hash of one of the earlier ideas, but what can I say; its an oldie but goodie in my book, and I have a lot of fun with it.)
End of Update
Those are some pretty bare bones things I know, but I prefer to keep my ideas as basic as possible so that changes can be made to them based upon the characters involved and just what sort of things people are looking to get out of it. These can also be tweaked into some pretty long things, with large over arching goals with both multiple events leading up to things and/or fresh characters being thrown in to prevent things from growing too "stale"-- plus world building. World building is fun, but that might just be my DM side peeking in at things. That aside though if those ideas don't really interest you, you can also throw the type of character you're looking to roleplay with and what sort of situation you're looking to have them thrown into at me; if I jive well enough with it I could try coming up with an idea for it. Oh yeah, I also think I should throw here that I'm good with original characters or ones from canon stuff (as long as I'm aware of things or it piques my interest enough), because I know there are those out there who prefer to do things with one or the other... though I'm not sure if there are any that decide to strictly go one way or another here.
