  1. What's new in this club
  2. Hello I am a new boy but I had a good writing session to this.
  3. I'm currently prepping a 5th edition TTRPG session in the Hellboy universe. I've been listening to this playlist a lot, it really helps me picturing myself in a 1950's office doing some paranormal research.
  4. Oh yeah, Lofi girl is awesome for doing anything that just needs a bit of ambience. It's the perfect "study" music. My tastes in music will vaguely change depending on situation and scene in the roleplay. All the way from epic battles, to sad and emotional. I played video games a lot so I'm into that "fitting soundtrack for fitting moment." Example of music I love to listen to below! (Be careful if sensitive to very sad tunes. I just love it.) :
  5. Hello! I am reviving this place because I thought it would be interesting to see what's in here. I have not roleplayed in a while myself but I have decades of experience otherwise. I want to try to help as much as I want to learn about improving myself and getting back into shape. So this is my greetings. ♪ I suppose I will see what I can find here.
  6. Hey thanks! I meant to reply to this earlier, it must have gotten lost in the haze of my mind.... I would love to read that guide when you do write it. As far as recommending people, I think everyone is here of the people I know that would be interested in this.
  7. I have YouTube Premium because I was fed up with getting ads on my daughter's tablet so I like listening to stuff on YouTube. Especially the lofi stuff. As I write this I am listening to this one:
  8. I have dyslexia and have found that the Grammarly extension has become my BEST friend when it comes to writing. Like, for reals. I have the free version on my Chrome browser and it has helped me out a ton. The free version needs a bit of common sense to tell it what to do but it is still pretty awesome. I can't remember how much it costs to get the full version (which corrects things in more detail and even teaches you context and such. So your own personal English tutor!) but if I could afford it I would pay for it. Anyway - if you want help with writing, don't just triple-check but also use this extension!
  9. A tip I read a long time ago (and I feel bad for not remembering who originally wrote it) puts forth the following questions and statements to help you create a realistic world. I think it pertained to general sci-fi and making new inventions, but I find it helps for almost anything. When you decide to add an element to your world, ask yourself the following three questions: Why? How? What Result? Why was this device created? Why was there a war? Why did people settle here? Whatever the situation, you need a believable reason why it happened. Then you have to ask yourself how it happened, and explain it in a way that's consistent with your world. How was the device created? Using what resources? How was the war fought? Who were allied with the main combatants? How did settlers arrive here and build their settlements? What local resource did they use to build their homes that makes them different from other areas? Then think of the results. What was the device used for? Who won the war and how many died on both sides? What happened to the new settlement? Once you have it in your head why and how things happened and you know the results, remember the two facts below: Never in the history of the world has any society been perfectly unanimous in its’ response to an event. Nor has any innovation been introduced into the world without unpredictable side effects. These add the real believability. Who thought the device was the work of the devil and wanted to outlaw/destroy it? Who protested against the war and perhaps aided the enemy? Who refused to settle in this place and either moved on or returned home? Answering these questions gives you realistic opposing groups and ideas, possibly even new strange devices designed to counteract the ones you originally thought of as the real innovation. This adds layers of complexity and realism, or at least it seems to work for me.
  10. Not so much a specific recommendation, but when I'm writing for a certain theme or setting, I'll search for playlists people have already created to fit the feel I'm going for. I've found fantastic list for free on SoundCloud, and more on Spotify, Amazon Music, and YouTube, although the ads on those "paid services I don't pay for" really ruin the experience for me. Tabletop Audio has some awesome "ambience + music" sets that I use when I actually run a game, and sometimes when I'm writing.
  11. Welcome I'm glad you like it so far. I might write a guide about clubs too in here a little later. Feel free to recommend us to anyone you think would like it here.
  12. Thanks for the invite! I joined a bunch of clubs when I first joined this site, not knowing how to use them and still never really participating... so I'll add this one to the list! JK JK! Anyway, it looks like you've already got a ton of great resources here.
  13. Feel free to share music that helps you write or that sets the mood for whatever you are roleplaying.
