The reactor is typically closely monitored by engineers that are typically immune to the effects of radiation. Others who go within the area of the reactor need enviornmental suits to protect themselves. Other things in the engineering sector imclude enviornmental systems such as air cleaner, the artificial gravity systems, as well as the main water pumps as opposed to the minor pumps placed throughout the ship in the hallways.
