Corinthi Posted Wednesday at 04:57 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:57 PM (edited) Civilian Data: Name: Tabitha VanCleeve Alias(s): Tabby Age: 28 Species: Human Gender: Cisgender Female Sexuality: Bisexual Switch Birthplace: Minneapolis, Minnesota Relatives: Extended family. Both parents, 3 siblings, 2 aunts, 4 uncles, 7 cousins, both maternal grandparents, and paternal grandfather are all alive and well. Base of Operations: Minneapolis, Minnesota Period(s) of Operation: Modern Age Marital Status: Single Pringle Fame Status: Celebrity Job: Streamer and Superhero (Endorsements mainly) Body Data: Height: 5’6” Weight: 120lbs. Health Conditions: ADHD, Mildly Nearsighted Extra: No notable scars. Faint, ghostly scars from childhood mishaps. When using her powers, a reflection of her HUD can be seen in her eyes if one looks closely. Origin Story: Tabby had a pretty typical, upper middle-class upbringing. Her father is a corporate lawyer, mother is a pharmacist, and Tabby was the black sheep. Her ADHD, even treated, left her a solid C student with an extensive discipline file. She was never a malicious child, but struggled with impulsiveness and a visceral inability to handle boredom. If nothing had changed, Tabby seemed destined for a fairly mediocre, average life. Fate had other plans. While on a school trip to the University of Michigan, her class was caught in the eruption of (a new superthreat caused by a university experiment). An errant energy blast ripped through the air toward Tabby and her friends and the young woman blocked it with a shield. Not just any shield or force field though. As she raised her arms to shield her face, a distinctive copy of The Shield of Valor manifested in her arms, completely blocking the blast. The Shield of Valor is the Iconic weapon of Brunhilde, a heroic character from a still popular competitive hero shooter, a character Tabby mained. As seen through numerous cell phone videos that promptly went viral, the young woman laughed and began manifesting other copyrighted bit of intellectual property, helping local heroes quell the disaster and saved numerous lives. Personality: Tabby, for all her video game playing and endorsement deals, takes being a hero really seriously. She has no idea why she has her powers, but feels a need to use them to help people. That said, she doesn’t really patrol. Patrolling is boring, and boredom is the enemy. Instead, she’s often an early responder to disasters. She’s gotten more fame and recognition for disaster rescue and recovery than fighting villians. Tabby also has no idea how to maintain a personal life. She doesn’t maintain a separation between her costumed and private identity, making dating nigh impossible. She’s had a few relationships with different celebrities, heroes, and one disaster with a personal assistant, but nothing lasting. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Costumes Alias: GamerGirl Costume Description: Gamergirl’s uniform consists of a black, form fitting bodysuit with golden trim and silver sleeves with fingerless gloves. For a superheroine’s uniform, it’s pretty modest. No mask, and she generally braids her long hair to keep it from blowing about and distracting her. Her image is often altered as she manifests different bits of video game equipment. That equipment always looks unnatural, appearing to a view more like three dimensional CGI than something that should physically exist in the world. Secret Identity?: Not a bit. Alignment: Valor No Kill Code?: Yes, and that seems to subconsciously affect her powers. Even if she manifests a Killzooka from Duty of Honor 6, the digital bazooka’s explosions may cause property damage, but only knocks organics about. Her powers never directly kill. Registration Status: Fully registered, with extensive legal history and contract law about her IP usage. Power Rank: Established Fame: Celebrity Team: Looking Team Position: (If Applicable) Other Affiliations: GHARD, REDI Costumed History: ► Birth of the GamerGirl After Tabby’s awakening, she was swept up by GHARD almost immediately, given the circumstances of said awakening blew her identity wide open. As she was still a minor, she spent most of her time with specialized trainers, developing and defining her eclectic powerset and completing her GED. During this time, GHARD helped her navigate the legal ramifications of a power that required infringing on legal IP. She adopted a brand ambassador model, legally allowed to use the IP for non commercial, humanitarian purposes. Essentially, as long as she acted as an above board Valor, the various brand owners wouldn’t sue her. ► GamerGirl vs. Manosphere GamerGirl’s first actual nemesis was born from an internet subforum that simply irrationally hated her. The negativity and hatred of this small subculture grew so irrationally toxic, that it spontaneously formed a living avatar of incel hatred. Manosphere, over the years, had launched several different terrorist attacks targeting women in tech and entertainment, and whenever he turns up, GamerGirl is quick to try to track him down and derezz him. ► GamerGirl vs. Collective Action While not a tech hero, she often finds herself caught up in the exploits of tech valors and viles. Collective Action is an anarchist collective of gadgeteers and superscientists dedicated to overturning the established world order, even if they disagree over what should replace it. One particular adventure involved her defending the United Nations from a horde of Cybernetic Gorillas set on capturing ambassadors from around the world. ►GamerGirl, Agent of REDI While not entirely comfortable with how they pursue their goals, GamerGirl is one of REDI most visible agents, and is often deployed to disaster areas around the world, bringing a lot of good press. Sometimes, her forthright focus on helping people clashes against the larger image focus of the organization as a while. One notable clash was when she clashed with a REDI agent who advocated leaving civilians in a transformation zone, because they needed test subjects to see how the engineered virus was actually affecting the DNA changes. GamerGirl went rogue and rescued the civilians anyway, coming to blows with the Vile superscientist who advocated for a slower approach. Theme Song: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ability Profile: Video Game Manifestations Type: Psionic Manifester Warrior Powers: Tabby can psionically manifest representations of powers, items, and abilities she has earned playing video games. Her powerset is very broad and easier to define via limitations than capabilities. So, let’s define some limitations: 1. Her manifestations do not alter her physical body in form, size, or shape. No shapeshifting, no growing larger via mushrooms, no taking animal forms. While she can grow extra arms or wings, those appendages are clearly digital constructs and not part of her flesh and blood. 2. She can only manifest 3 separate abilities at a time, and that’s after years of practice. Those manifestations require conscious concentration. If she’s not concentrating on her power, she’s as human as any civilian. 3. Her mental energy isn’t infinite, but is more akin to a recharging battery. She can regenerate the energy used for minor effects essentially freely, but the more powerful the effect, the more it depletes her. 4. Her manifestations work how they would work in the video game. If a gun has ammo or a spell has a cool down, so does the manifestation. 5. The manifestation has to be something she has legitimately earned in a video game, without using any sort of cheats. The video game needs to be a ‘real’ video game. AKA mass marketed. Any sort of custom built game for the purpose of giving her powers is considered a cheat by her ability. Even if ‘cheats’ are built into the game, if it’s something her subconscious recognizes as a cheat, her ability won’t trigger. Common Manifestations: While in the field, Tabby typically spends one of her manifestations on Extra Lives. Essentially, she has three 'lives' and if she would take an otherwise lethal blow, the blow is entirely negated and her lives decrease by 1. If she runs out of lives, that manifestation is burned until she has a chance for a good sleep to recharge her mental power. Tabby can set Fast Travel Flags. She can memorize a given location, then teleport to that location from anywhere in the world, so long as she's not in a stressful situation. She has fast travel locations in many metropolitan areas, but those points are almost always tied to landmarks, so they're easier to remember. Any large changes to a fast travel location breaks her link, so the power can be unreliable. She can manifest all manner of mobility abilities. Jetpacks, wall running, grappling guns, super and double jumps, and short range, point to point teleports. She generally only maintains one ability at a time from a mobility category. She can manifest all manner of weaponry, and while none of the weapons are overwhelmingly powerful, she has unprecedented access to various energies and elemental attacks. If a Vile has a known weakness, she can exploit it. If any of her weaponry has an ongoing effect, like say a glue gun (one of her faves), the effect only lasts as long as she maintains concentration on that manifested weapon. If she used a glue gun, then traded out the glue gun for a different ability, any lingering glue evaporates. Equipment: In the field, Tabby’s only consistent equipment is her bodysuit, which is crafted from a puncture and small arms fire resistant material, and a communicator earpiece. In her mundane life, she’s pretty wealthy and has access to very best video gaming setups. Skills: Weirdly, Tabby isn’t a gifted gamer. She’s above average because of the time she puts into it, but is a high silver, low gold ranked player, who has no business in the platinum leagues. She tends to be better at using her gear in real life than in the game. Through extensive, serious training, she’s a skilled traceur, marksman, and martial artist. She’s also become a competent business woman, skillfully marketing her image to fund her superheroic exploits. Weaknesses / Flaws: In addition to the limitations listed in her power, Tabby’s powers are fueled by psionic energy, so can be disrupted by psionic inhibitors. Her ADHD also tends to have her miss details and jump to snap judgments. Her instincts aren’t the worst after years in action, but she has had a few unfortunate brawls with other ‘heroes’ over misunderstandings.
