She always remembered that her mother died when she was born, and her father always blamed her, even more so than Catherine. Afterall, she was technically the second born. He beat her daily, and she was completely unable to fight back. At some point after puberty, she started to get off on the beating. Maybe it was because it was the only time her father interacted with her, or maybe she was just fucked up on a deep level. It didn’t, and still doesn’t matter to her. She was never interested in school, and skipped it as often as she could. She hardly remembers ever going to a single class. Part of the reason was that she was so injured, that her father kept her home so as to prevent the teachers from seeing the damage. In some ways hurting others, became her primary form of communication. The few times she went to elementary school, she ended up hurting her classmates, even ‘accidentally’ breaking a boys arm, when she pushed him off of the top of a play structure. As she got older, her sadism remained constant, but changed direction. She would often try to talk random guys into sex, only to either hurt them, humiliate them, or both. At the end of highschool her brother was arrested for murdering her father. The worst part of that for her, was simply that it meant that she wouldn’t be able to stay at home anymore. Her mother died when she was very young and Catherine no longer has a good memory of her. Her father drank a lot and while he often screamed and threw things, he never hit her as far as she can remember. However, that didn’t stop him from being emotionally abusive, often calling her stupid, and worthless to her face. Repeat a lie often enough, and people will start to believe it. She never made many friends during most of her school years, due to her introverted, and self destructive, nature. However, mostly through luck, she managed to find herself in a small group of three or four other girls, who she’s remained close to ever since. She loves them all and would do anything to keep them as friends. Sometimes she becomes deathly afraid of losing them because she doesn’t believe she’ll ever be able to make any more if they leave. Through hard work and being connected with one of the workers, she managed to get a job at the local library at eighteen, a place she’s stayed for over five years now. It was good she got a job so early in her life, since just a little while after, her father went missing. His body was found a couple weeks later, having been stabbed several times, and dumped off the highway into a ditch. After a brief investigation, her brother was found guilty, as the murder weapon was found inside his room. She refuses to dwell on any of it, since she doesn’t want to go through that pain. However bottling it up, isn’t very healthy. She hasn’t had a restful night of sleep in years. Catherine had to move out of her old home, and into a small apartment with her sister. She had to work a lot to be able to afford it, especially early on, and the whole situation stopped her from ever going to college. She sometimes wishes she could get more out of life, and start dating, however the thought of putting herself out there scares her. Besides, she’s mostly happy with the way her life has gone. One thing she doesn’t like, is that she never feels like she gets the chance to talk with her twin anymore. They were never close, but at least had some connection.
