Name: Serenity May
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Religion: None
Species: Human
Origin/Nationality: American
Occupation: Police Officer
Role: Onlooker
Physical Appearance
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Black
Physical Description: She wears her red glasses at all times so that she can notice even the smallest of details. She is also very rarely seen without wearing her police uniform. Due to the long hours she spends doing research on the computer, her skin is quite pale, almost sickly so. She always prioritizes her work over her own health.
Personality, Traits and Abilities
General Overview: She is known to be quite cold and calculating, however, this is entirely unintentional. She considers herself to be quite friendly, though her focus on logic and deductive reasoning gives her a bit of a colder appearance. However, she would put her life on the line to protect even the lowliest of law-abiding citizens on the streets of Black City. She understands that there are many tensions between the public and the police force and takes many precautions in order to help anyone she's interacting with to feel more comfortable and relaxed in her presence.
Strengths, Skills and Abilities:
- Martial Arts: She is quite adept at martial arts due to her training. She is surprisingly strong for her size and is capable of disarming and restraining any typical street thugs with ease.
- Intelligence/Quick Thinking: She is always confident in her own line of thinking. She rarely acts without thinking of the potential consequences and always tries to make the decision with the best possible outcome. She can make these deductions in record time, although she often catches some flack from people who disagree with her priorities.
- Organizational Skills: She tries to keep her files neat and orderly for easy access. If she's in a hurry, she may leave a file on her table, but she'll always return to put it in the appropriate place at a later time.
- Conversational Skills: Despite her cold and calculated initial impression, many people she interacts with actually find her to be quite charming. She finds that talking with citizens is a great way to reduce tension.
- Firearm: As any police officer, Serenity carries a handgun on her at all times while in uniform. Even while off duty, she still carries a concealed weapon under her shirt. She hopes she never has to use it, but understands that it may be necessary to take a life in order to save an innocent one. She is more than prepared to make such a decision if the time comes.
- Black City Police: She can use her badge for a variety of purposes. For example, she can intimidate someone into spilling more information than they otherwise might. On the other hand, she can also use it to help someone grow to trust her a little more and accept her help.
Weaknesses:
- Physical Limitations: She may be stronger than she appears, however, she could still be overpowered by an exceptionally strong individual.
- "Cold-hearted": While she wouldn't consider herself to truly be cold-hearted, many believe her to be due to the calculated way she makes her decisions without a reliance on emotional attachment. For example, if given the decision between the two, she would rescue a stranger's child over her own mother simply because the child has more to offer society down the line. She simply cannot agree to compromising the morally correct choice with personal attachment, even if it would be excusable.
- Disorganization Stress: Since she's so used to having everything in a neat and orderly fashion, she can immediately tell when anyone has been digging through her stuff and becomes particularly aggravated when everything isn't placed back the way it was.
- Family: Despite her calculated lifestyle, she is absolutely terrified of the idea of her mother or grandparents suffering.
- Body cam: While on duty, she is required by Black City law to wear a body cam on her uniform at all times. As a result, everything she says or does is tracked. She suspects this footage is somehow being fed to Ghost. However, off duty she is free to remove her cam and is not required to wear her uniform.
Ambitions (Hopes/Dreams): She hopes that, through her efforts, she can bridge the gap between the police and the general public and bring the tension between the two to an end. She also hopes to reach a higher position within the police department so that she can research the employment history and find more information on the man who rescued her.
Hobbies and Interests: She enjoys patrolling the city, even while off duty. It helps put her mind at ease when she can potentially stop or prevent any crimes from occurring.

History
Bio: Growing up, Serenity lived alone with only her mother and grandparents. She and her family had been victims of numerous crimes within the slums of Black City. They'd had countless items of varying values stolen from them, local gangsters known as the Vipers would often harass her family since they were viewed as weak and defenseless. Her own conception was the consequence of her mother being raped by the Vipers. The things these men would do to her family horrified Serenity growing up, but the police were never of any help. They would always claim to be investigating the cases, but the cases would only continue to pile up more and more, leading to her growing resentful not only toward the gang ruining her family's lives, but also the police for doing nothing about it.
One night, at the age of 16, Serenity's mother was late to arrive home. Afraid for her mother's safety and desperate to find her, she called the police only to have her mother arrive home a few minutes later in torn clothes, with cuts, bruises, and obscenities written all over her exposed body, including the Vipers' logo across her chest. The site of her mother in such a state infuriated her. Ignoring her family's protests, she grabbed a knife from her room and ran out into the streets. The moment she found one of the Vipers, she didn't hesitate to lunge at him with the intent to kill. However, due to being controlled by blind rage coupled with her inexperience with streetfighting, she was easily taken down.
Brought to the rest of the gang, she wasn't able to return to her home that night. Instead, she was broght to the Vipers' hideout for the next three years of her life, forced to abandon her family, school, and pride to live as a slave for the Vipers. The first year was excruciating for her. She was punished for disobedience almost every day and humiliated even more. She was given piercings and permanent tattoos of the Viper's logo across her back and crotch. By her second year, her spirit had been entirely broken and she had fallen into a pit of emptiness and depression. By the age of 19, she had begun to reluctantly accept her role when she was finally rescued by a lone police officer. The officer seemed to be unable to get any backup for his operation, so he couldn't make any arrests or put a stop to the gang. However, he did manage to rescue Serenity from their hideout in the middle of the night and reunited her with her family. She asked for the man's name and he simply responded with the name "Aaron Hughes" before leaving. She wanted to thank the man properly, but was never able to find him again. Out of nowhere, he seemed to have simply disappeared from the world, as if he were some sort of ghost.
Determined to find out what happened with Aaron, Serenity spent the next few years of her life catching up on her school work as quickly as she could. Her family had moved in an effort to distance themselves from the Vipers. She had her piercings and tattoos removed, although there are still faint remnants of both. While she is embarrassed and humiliated by the things she was forced to do under the Vipers, she also understands that she cannot be held responsible for any crimes she had committed under the circumstances. As a result, she uses her traumatic experiences as a means to inspire others to overcome any struggles they may have faced. By the age of 24, she had managed to join the police force and has been working there ever since. However, while working for the police, she had begun to notice some bizarre behaviors around the police department. Most notably, the distinct lack of crime reports. Considering how rampant crime had been in the slums, especially with the Vipers running amok, she found the number of reports especially suspicious, but anytime she would question the higher-ups, she would often be silenced or told to look the other way. As a result, she took it upon herself to investigate and began to notice odd behaviors of people within various facilities throughout the city.
Despite having investigated these oddities throughout her career, she hasn't stumbled across any evidence that proves the existence of Ghost. However, she is confident that Ghost not only exists, but is responsible for the disappearance of Aaron Hughes. Upon investigating rumors about Ghost, she has since made sure to be as open and honest as she possibly can to those around her. She knows that, if Ghost exists, they would latch onto the very first mistake she made. According to the rumors, they controlled the higher-up positions through blackmail. As long as she had no secrets to hide, she would be impossible to blackmail.
She lives her life carefully, watching not only herself, but her family as well. If she is untouchable, she suspects that Ghost or the Vipers will take action against those she loves. She finds many of the other police officers quite hesitant to act with her for fear of angering the chief, so she unfortunately is unable to get any support in her endeavors to protect her family. Even the chief remains willfully ignorant of her demands, to her frustration.
To this day, she remains a part of the police force, doing her best every day to prove her worth. She remains obedient to her superiors even if she doesn't agree with their decisions. However, the chief often grows frustrated with her use of loopholes in her efforts to continue investigating. She suspects that the chief himself is being blackmailed by Ghost and hopes to use that idea to give her further leads onto how Ghost functions.
