Opening ceremony

[Pip]

I quickly followed her out, blushing as I held her hand. Was I being a creep for holding it? What if my palms started sweating? All these questions made my face heat up immensely. But I happily held it as I kept up with her smiling trying to keep cool.

As we walk through the halls I smile to Marie. "I saw a Starbucks on my here I know they have a stigma, but it is the closest coffee shop. Sound like a plan?"

[Pip]

"Sounds good to me!"I said excitedly, slightly bouncing. But I stopped, not wanting to scare away the only friend I seemed to have made.

I found her bouncing cute and smiled at her. "You're adorable." We leave the campus I'm not sure if its open or not but we're out here now. I guide Marie into the Starbucks and order a simple black cofffee. "What do you want Marie?"

[Pip]

I blushed brightly at her words, suppressing a squeak as I grinned. "A mocha frappe is good!" I replied, calming down. I honestly didn't care that we were away from the school. Spending time with Kenzi was amazing.

After our drinks are made I find us a nice booth to sit in. "This is better than some lame opening ceremony, but worry not. Once the classes start then we'll go back. Maybe."

[Pip]

"I honestly wouldn't care if we went back or not." I replied, laughing sheepishly as I admitted it. And it was true. I wasn't the keenest on this school and the lustful atmosphere, but I had made a friend so it didn't seem that bad.

"So how has morning gone so far? New school, new people. I'll admit, I didn't expect that Alex lad to be so flirty he had his eye down my shirt the whole time." I take a sip. "But I shouldn't complain I did wear this shirt after all."

[Pip]

I nodded. "Y-Yeah, but it was surprising since I'm not really all that attractive..."I said softly, taking a drink of my coffee, licking the whipped cream. " But its been okay. I met you, so that's the highlight of my day."I added, smiling gently.

"Same to you, Marie. I like you a lot. I mean I still have to dig around in that head of yours, find your secrets, but I do want ti be your friend and maybe more than that if we like what we find each other." I gingerly rub her shoulder. Feeling a strange urge to protect her. Even if she doesn't love me.

[Pip]

"For you...all you have to do is ask."I smiled gently. My face lit up at her words, feeling a faintly familiar fluttery feeling. "I want to be your friend Kenzi. I really do."I added, gently placing my hand over here. I could feel my heartbeat accelerate at her touch, blushing.

"Then if it.doesn't make you uncomfortable would you like to acoot closer to me?" I ask wanting to be as close to her as possible. To feel uer warmth. Not like Coco would. Or Alex. But to keep her close and safe.

[Pip]

I nodded, slowly scooting closer to Kenzi until their shoulders brushed against each other. I couldn't help, but slightly lean my cheek against her shoulder. I closed my eyes for a second, wondering just how I managed to meet someone like her.

I slowly put my arm around her.I enjoy holding her. She was cute and I felt there was somwthing more to her. "So what's that tattoo?"

[Pip]

"Oh this..?"I asked, lifting my shirt and revealed a good chunk of the tattoo of a large Sakura tree. "I got it when my mother was announced cancer free. We got matching tattoos."I replied with a gentle smile as I remembered the occasion.

Being left alone, I decided to walk out of the hall once the ceremony was finished. I went outside in the warm pleasant sun, its beams striking my tanned skin. I sat down , leaning my back against a tree and I stared at the passing clouds and breathed softly

"Well I'm glad she lived. Must've been hard I'm sure, but you endured." I take another sip of coffee. 

[Pip]

"Yeah, I've never been more blessed to say in the least."I said, licking more of the whipped cream and accidentally getting some on my nose.

I laugh and kiss her nose to get rid of the cream. I pet her head affectionately. My heart flutters as I meet her eyes.

[Pip]

I felt my cheeks heat up when she kissed my nose, eyes glittering happily. "T-thanks."I said smiling sheepishly.

"After coffee we should go get that yarn." I hugged Marie and pulled her very close for a few seconds before letting her go.

[Pip]

"Yeah!"I replied happily, hugging her back. I didn't want to let go, but didn't want to make it awkward either.

After a few sips my coffee is done. "I've never liked so much sugar in my coffee, I can handle a little creamer but the bitterness sets it for me."

[Pip]

"It depends. Sometimes I like mine bitter,sometimes I like lots of sugar."I replied with a sigh of content as I finished my coffee

"Well come on, Marie let's go the Hobby Shoppe and get some yarn." This time instead of.holding her hand I put my arm around her waist.
