How do you handle coming back from break.

So, I haven't been very active on the site for about a month or so at this point. I know that doesn't seem like an long time, but it certainly feels like it to me. I know in that time I've let quite a few replies fall into the back ground. I'm not sure to approach those, I know that if someone where to leave me high and dry for month, I'd loose intrest in most things, and I wouldn't want to just hop back into something, especially without an explanation. Even then I'd be hesitant to re-engage with them. I guess I'm Herr to ask for a little advice on how to approach coming back in.

Should I talk to the poeple I've left waiting for a reply, apologize for not respecting their time? Should I just jump back in like nothing has changed if I'm even still intrested in doing the roleplay? What would like done to you? What have you done to others?

I understand this feeling. I have chronic health issues that often lead me to disappear from virtually all social media. I always feel bad but I almost never get warning before a flair up and can't help it. Over the years I've had lots of different reactions to this. In my experience partners that write a paragraph or more per reply are more understanding of needing breaks. Not that shorter rps are never understanding, this is just something I've noticed. Honestly the people on this site have been the most understanding that I've come across in almost 8 years of rp.

My advice is to apologise, ask if they'd wish to continue and be prepared that some may be unhappy with you.

I’ve gone through this a number of times, for various reasons.  My advice, if you really liked an RP, reach out.  At least try to continue it and/or explain what happened.  I’ve had all the responses you might expect doing that from different people.  Some never responded, dropping the story and unwilling to do anything else with me.  Some dropping the story we had been doing but willing to do a new one and some willing to pick up where we left off.  You don’t know which it will be if you don’t try.
