Officially founded in 1872 after the towns of St. Paul and St. Anthony were merged, Minneapolis makes up one part of the "Twin Cities" and has been generally known as a center for milling. It eventually moved away from that and became a center for banking and industry as well as the beautiful bodies of water that earned it its nickname.
