Oo, here's an idea. Maybe we could lean into the pack side of things? Going kinda along that whole one with their ancestors, part of the pack mentality. What if their bonds truly do make them stronger? Particularly against magic. For example: One lone werewolf is what he is, stronger than a human or thrall, probably stronger than an untrained young vampire as well. Perhaps though part of the reason for their numbers is that they provide one another with a mental strength allowing them defense against the vampire's compulsions and what not? This could grow in power the closer they are to territory that belongs to them too, perhaps giving more grounded seasonings for the vampires not simply wiping them out, and for them using thralls against them? With that in mind the closer the vampires get to the heart of the lycans territory the stronger these bonds would be and the harder they would have to work to maintain their spells? I forget who, but I remember someone mentioning their character being able to use shadow magic. On neutral ground this would work as intended, against a single werewolf again, it would work as intended, against two? It would start to have trouble, and this trouble would increase as more lycans entered the mix. On the flip side of that, perhaps these bonds could weaken if the pack wasn't unified though? For example if there's distrust because of an outsider, or because conflicts between leadership within the pack grew too visible to the rest of the pack? It would give vampires a reason to want to kill werewolves on more than simply a my territory level as they would become a real threat to them if their packs grew too large, for example if they're out hunting and suddenly their compulsion didn't work. On the flip side it would really press upon the need for the pack to operate as a united front.

I would be on board with that idea, especially if things are large. Maybe a few 'nanny' homes so to speak, could be that they initially were for servants and what not before the lycans moved in. That or most could live in the city and the mansion could be more of a meeting place. Maybe these 'nanny' homes belong to the higher ranked members and are given as a sign of prestige? With that in mind maybe the Alpha lives in the mansion and the Betas, Deltas, and Gamma's live in these homes. In this case maybe some are newer and some are older? Again this all depends on sizing of the pack. With that same vein of thought, don't forget William's pack in Underworld. It was more the size of an army than a wolf pack. And if this pack has been here for some time it could be quite large as well. Based on the amount of members characters on the vampire side currently and the amount of thralls they have, keeping that 2-1 ratio would put the pack at at least 60 right now. Kit's character has at least a dozen thralls from what I understand, and there are at least 8 characters made for that side currently and growing every day. So for sake of planning for that growth I'd say maybe we should stick with something closer to 60-80 for the lycans' side? Gives plenty of free roaming npcs to kill off for both sides and would allow the vampires to have 30-40 npcs as well without scewing things too far in their favor given their other advantages.

For sake of scewing numbers to favor the werewolves, as Kitsuyumia mentioned there should be more werewolves than vampires, I'm assuming that we will have quite a few npcs on their side at the very least. With that in mind, I'm sure the same thing goes for the vampires, but how large of groups are we talking on both sides? I was kinda along the mind set that both sides had dwindling numbers that would increase as the RP progressed and gained members, but is this not the case? Really like the dialog going on in the library, but the loss of scouts got my mind working on this. I left and had deactivated my account at the time, so yes Venari99 was me at one point for those that might have known me before. I reached out around when I came back about possibly reinstating that account, though at this point I think it'd just be easier to build this one back up to where I was at before. So with that said, I wanted to get on here and post some of my characters that I've been working on and to overall use this topic as a collective of my works. He continued to work at his craft there when time and resources allowed. In time he found himself working beneath a man named Etgar Tallstag. As his commanding officer Nilus thought little of the man, doing as he was told without resistance as was drilled into him at this point in time, however as time passed under the command of Etgar Nilus began to realize something wasn't right. They were stationed at the edge of Nymira at the time, the kingdom of monsters. Tasked with driving the Gnoll marauders back from the Amedian border. Etgar played the part rather well, seemingly removing orc and Gnoll tribes that opposed his kingdom; however as time passed the front grew more and more dangerous, their enemies seemingly emboldened by their attacks. Nilus began to dig into what was truly going on, stealing missives, using his magic to eavesdrop, in time he found that the tribes they'd been hunting were not Nymirian, in fact that they were more a nuisance to Nymiria’s armies than anything. As he continued to dig he found more misdeeds of the traitorous man. The next chance he had he reported the man earning a promotion from doing so. He was made into a scryer from that point on, trained over the next year in the finer arts of the craft and tasked with defending Amedia from threats within its walls rather than being put on the front lines. He became loved by some, and hated by others as he single handedly uncovered traitors, followers of dark gods, and all those who dared to defy the will of Atlanta their goddess. Eventually his crusade led him towards a nobleman, a man who had claimed his title through combat and deeds rather than merely birth as so many of his kin did. He had thought the deed finished after the man was removed from power, just another day in the office after all. However that was far from the case, Etgar had been following Nillus’ exploits. Having escaped and returned to his true people in Nymeria, he watched from the shadows, waiting for an opportunity to strike back at Nilus. That opportunity presented itself through the nobleman, the deposed hero. A deal was struck with the deposed man, on Nyx’s name, the god of deals and pacts, for the ruination of Nilus in exchange for the man’s loyalty and his soul. Knowing that he was damned by the goddess he worshiped, the man accepted Etgar’s deal, becoming little more than a pawn in his game. In exchange the dark god cursed Nilus casting him from the material realm and into the realms of chaos, into the playground of Nexos the god of chaos. Offering up the man as a gift to appease the over deity. Powers: Nilus is a decorated battlemage and scryer, able to control the arcane with ease, and peer into most any mind. There are few schools of magic he does not understand, even if there are some he refuses to use.

Me too to be honest. Seems like an interesting character to be certain though, not sure if we're going with werewolves being long lived in this setting. Doesn't matter to me either way, but I do remember it specified that vampires were ancient implying that perhaps lycans are not. @Kitsuyumia Sorry to keep tagging you but it doesn't say in the werewolf info one way or the other and I've known settings where they are just as long lived as vampires, Underworld for example.

Yeah there's no current Gamma as far as I know, no alpha either for that matter. Plus the Gamma is more spiritual/medical so I don't think there's be a problem. Check with @Kitsuyumia, but you should be good.
