off the cuff Administrator Rambles: Some things that need to be said
Peculiaritree Deactivated commented on Tema's news article in News and Announcements
I am equal parts relieved and frustrated that my thoughts about the increasing community divisions in EcchiDreams have been validated by official statements. Relieved, because for some time I was worried that my sense of perspective had been distorted by recent events, and frustrated because, well... I used to like logging in, dammit. Now I find myself thinking, "Oh, gee, I wonder who will have gotten into a stupid, pointless argument over nothing of import today?" It's disheartening. This is supposed to be a place for fun. it's literally a site about sex! What's more fun than sex? (Aside from cookies, of course :3) Personally, I don't have any issue with political discourse appearing on the site, but that's because I'm one of those odd bastards who actually enjoys good-faith political discussion. What I'm seeing now? This isn't good-faith discussion. It's the exact kind of vitriolic, unreasoning, spiteful nonsense that makes me want to hurl something across the room every time I see it on TV or online or even in person. I'm with Nep on this one. I'm disappointed. I'm disappointed because I know we can do better. I'm disappointed because, when I was a substitute teacher, I saw children treat each other with appropriate respect and compassion. If they can do it, then why can't we, the supposed "mature" ones? At the end of the day, I don't like watching my friends fight each other. Please be kind. -
Funny you mention neighbors being bananas, because I got woken up by my neighbor revving his car's engine at 4 AM like a doo-doo head. I'm not sure what kind of car it was without my glasses on, but I guess it was the first thing I saw (blurrily) before taking a quick peek at ED and then going back to bed.

Figured I may as well throw my opinions in here too. Prepare for E D G E. Breaking Benjamin - Very likely my favorite band of all time. BB are an alt-rock band from Pennsylvania similar in style to Red, Chevelle, and other bands of the early to mid 2000's. They are one of the very few bands where I can honestly say that I enjoy every single song they've written. If I had to pick a few favorite songs, though, I would have to go with "Evil Angel," "Failure," and "Give Me A Sign." If you want something a bit slower, I highly recommend checking out "Ashes of Eden." Starset - Another alt-rock band, Starset are vaguely science fiction-themed, and most of their music contains some degree of electronic influence as a result. They are most likely my second favorite band, right after BB. I find that each of their three albums has something to offer for most everyone who likes rock and/or metal. Favorite songs would probably be "Telescope," "Ricochet," and "Unbecoming." Mechina - Mechina, like Starset, have a sci-fi theme, but takes it up to eleven with an entire lore that is revealed through their songs. It's so extensive that there's a Wikia dedicated solely to figuring it out. Also unlike Starset, Mechina sit firmly within the realm of heavy metal, and by "heavy" I mean along the lines of "Meshuggah with an orchestra backing them and sane time signatures." Interestingly, Mechina is a virtual band like the Gorillaz, but their music is so elaborate it is nearly impossible to perform live, which isn't helped by the fact that they have no record label behind them at all. Most of their vocals are harsh growls by one of the band's 2 (!) official members; however, they often hire a female singer by the name of Mel Rose, who has a haunting, ethereal voice. Favorite songs: "The Horizon Effect," "On The Wings of Nefeli," and "Planetfall." Ne Obliviscaris - I didn't think mixing vaguely Eastern European folk-style violin with progressive metal would work, but hey, Ne Obliviscaris was there to prove me wrong. Despite definitely being on the heavier end of the metal scale, this Australian band's music somehow relaxes me just as well as watching Bob Ross paint. They employ a two-singer lineup, with one providing growls and screams and the other handling the comprehensible sections. I haven't listened to them as much as some of the other bands on this list, so I'll just leave one song for them: "And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope." Red Queen - Slavic model sings seductive horror-metal from the perspective of a vampire queen or something, idk. I'm pretty sure this is the only time I've gotten a fear-boner from listening to music. 'Nuff said, favorite song is probably "Insidious." Widek - I only discovered this independent artist in the past few months. They primarily do instrumental rock and metal, rather like Buckethead or Eric Johnson but with a more modern, somewhat-progressive style. I don't have a huge amount to say about them; go check them out for yourself. Favorite songs: "Spiral" and "Orion." Alestorm - Two words: Pirate. Metal. The lead singer is Scottish to the point of being nearly incomprehensible and I love it. My favorite song is fucking all of them, it's goddamn pirate metal! Protip: drink rum whilst listening. Belzebubs - This black metal band actually started as a webcomic, oddly enough, but the creator decided "fuck it, we're making a band," and the end result is... surprisingly good. Obviously, being black metal the songs are somewhat occult and Satanic in nature, so if you're of the more devout species of Christian you may want to skip this one, just warning ya. They poke a bit of fun at how seriously other black metal bands take themselves in their wonderfully-animated music videos, which I enjoy immensely since some of those bands get waaaaay too stuck up their own butts >.<. They only have one album out, so I'll pick two songs for them: "Cathedrals of Mourning" and "The Crowned Daughters." Gloryhammer - Do you like power metal? Do you like incredibly cheesy, over-the-top music? If so, comedy power metal band Gloryhammer is for you! Created by one of the members of Alestorm, Gloryhammer takes itself about as seriously as any band where the singer dresses up in bright green power armor on stage can. Without going into detail, suffice to say that any band with a song titled "The Unicorn Invasion of Dundee" can't be bad. Insomnium - Somewhere between doom metal and black metal. Like Ne Obliviscaris, this band's music is strangely relaxing in its own way, and I often find myself putting it on in the background when I'm working on something else. I recommend the songs "Mute Is My Sorrow," "Karelia," and "Revelation." Phew, that's all I got. Like Tem, I do listen to music besides rock and metal, but it does make up the vast majority of my library.

@IsabellaRose Oogalloo (or Oogie, now, he supposed; he found he rather liked the nickname) preened under the attention, flushing a slightly darker shade across his whole body. His attention was completely riveted to the pretty human now. The way she moved, the way she smiled - it was almost hypnotic to Oogie's senses. He had been concerned, briefly, when Jenny's face had gone through an odd series of contortions when he'd given her the cauliflower; had he done something wrong? He knew some humans got itchy and uncomfortable around some things - an allergic reaction, he thought it was called - and it certainly wasn't outside the realm of possibility that Jenny would experience such issues from contact with his gift to her. Thankfully, she seemed to recover quickly from whatever issue had befallen her and seemed to be responding well to his advances. Now that Oogie had determined that he had not, in fact, poisoned or otherwise harmed Jenny, he took a moment to consider her more closely. Though information about humans had only recently reached Tentaculus, they had quickly become one of the most desirable species in the tentacle monster community. Humans, it turned out, had precisely the right physiology to set off all the mating impulses of a typical tentacle monster, and Jenny in particular seemed to be an exceptionally exquisite member of her species. Oogie's eyes raked up and down her form. He was aware it was probably somewhat rude to stare (one of the few taboos tentacle monsters shared with most other species), but seeing as she was not-so-subtly eying his tentacles he figured that turnabout was fair play. Glob's wild tales of how his partner Leigh had lusted after his appendages echoed through his mind and he wondered, hoped, that Jenny felt the same way about him. His tentacles shivered at the thoughts that rose up, unbidden, of what they could do together, all the ways they could explore one another. All four of Oogie's eyestalks blinked simultaneously as Jenny's question pulled him back to reality. He took a moment to think about his answer. It was a tough call, truthfully; he hadn't had much of a chance to explore the city since arriving and was therefore quite excited to do so (particularly with a pretty human by his side), but her mysterious, almost teasing smile made him want to skip the preamble and do things with her. In the end, however, curiosity won out. "I think I'd like to see the city with you, Jenny," Oogie said cheerfully. On impulse, he offered one of his manipulator tentacles to her, offering to hold her hand. "So," he asked, "what do humans do in cities? For fun, I mean. I researched your culture but I got really confused..." He let out a quick chuckle, though it came out as more of a titter, really. "I'll follow you anywhere you want to go. Oh, this is all so exciting!"

If EcchiDreams Were a Family...

Aight, time for me to have a go at it. @Reyna - The exuberant little sister who's always baking cookies or doing something nice. Cheerful and pleasant to talk to. Very much a hugger, especially when the person being hugged doesn't expect it. @DozleZabie2 - The older brother, very serious about keeping his younger siblings safe from danger. Has a weird but endearing obsession with collecting swords and armor. @IsabellaRose - The bookish, elegant aunt who manages to make whatever she's wearing just look right, whether its a formal dress or a nightgown. May have a hidden (or not-so-hidden) wild side... @WritesNaughtyStories - The cultured uncle, always immaculately dressed. Hand-writes all his correspondence with excellent penmanship and signs with a flourish. Can tell you the perfect wine to go with any meal. @Elena Ichinomiya - The sweet cousin with a big heart, but who is always willing to team up with Dozle to thoroughly ward off any bullies. They rarely have to tell anyone twice. @GM Angel - The quirky aunt who always seems to be writing something and asking about ideas. Very open with her emotions and takes a "carpe diem" approach to life. @Cute bish - The sister who likes to wear Halloween costumes that are juuuust a bit too revealing for Mom's taste, but manages to charm her into letting her wear them anyway. Also has a bit of a sweet tooth. @Xaciel - The cousin with a massive video game collection. Has never lost a fight in Super Smash Bros. and can tell you where all the secrets are in every classic game. @Sunstone - A relative overseas who you've never actually met in person, but from the letters they send they certainly seem to be a kind individual, and would probably make an excellent librarian. That's all I got lol sorry if I missed ya -
Hey, we very much appreciate the offer! ^^

To expand on what Reyna said, we unfortunately don't have a timeframe for when the existing roleplayers will reply. However, if things really start to bog down for a long time (on the order of weeks, probably) Reyna and I will discuss our options at that time.

Hi, all. Now that I'm done being a lazy ass I'll try to get this up and running again over the weekend. I sincerely apologize for grinding everything to a halt and not really being involved in the club in general.

@IsabellaRose I think we've established that's far from a bad thing In any case, if I'm not out in front of the yard I would probably be the kinda-quiet but generally cheerful middle brother or something haha. -

For the open topics, feel free to hop in anytime. Don't worry about cluttering things up; it's common and expected. It is considered good practice to quote or at least tag the person you are replying to once the topic does start getting a bit more crowded. -
Allegheny County, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania A gorgeous place and, if I recall correctly, where I was born; I don't currently have access to my birth certificate to check, sadly. It's a gorgeous place and I'm definitely going to have to go back and visit again once this whole virus nonsense is done with. It's been much too long.

I'll see if I can't make good use of the downtime tomorrow to come up with another character to flesh out our cast a bit. Maybe I'll even be a good boy and use a reference image for once oops.
