Gateport
Located in the Southeast of the Texas Commonwealth and the largest settlement in this part of the wasteland. As the citizens of the wasteland begin to recover in the now decades after the drop of the bombs, Gateport has found itself as a key location in wasteland trade. Apart from being on a path through the coast of texas, being near a water-treatment plant, and having the protection of several key power players of the wasteland, including the brotherhood of steel, Gateport has also recently been able to fix a large cargo ship which they now use to trade through the coast of the gulf of mexico.

The Black Unicorn Bar has a large round counter, surrounded by stools, in the middle of the bar where the customers can order up anything on the menu. The rest of the bar has many wooden tables with metal chairs for customers to eat or chat with each other while a waitress shows up to take their order. There are stairs in the far right and left of the main entrance which leads to the 2nd floor where people may rent a room for the night. The top 3rd floor is for the workers and owner to stay which only a few are allowed to enter with a special key card each worker holds. Vergil's room is locked with his master key card allowing him to easily pass through all security with…

As you enter the main plaza of the city of Gateport, you find yourself barraged with a variety of sights, sounds, and activities. You see shops, both inside of buildings as well as outside in stalls and tents, selling every kind of scavengable item from the wasteland. You see traders yelling out deals and cheap prices in caps throughout the plaza. You see people, ghouls, and even robots going about their business, buying things from the traders or simply going from one place to the other. If you cannot find what your are looking for here, you probably can't find it anywhere in the wasteland.

A block from the Gateport town center is the Violet Corner Radio station. From the outside one can see the VCR station makes it home out of the blown out corpse of an old wartime building. Half of the building is made the old Golden Age metal, chipped blue paint accented by its red rust. The other half of the building, which is gone, has been built over. From it protrudes a large and powerful refurbished radio telescope as well as the stations antenna. The rebuilt walls of the other half are made off wood and scrap metals, reinforced with steel plates at major structural points. The outside of station has a wraparound porch with a couple of benches for people to gather an…

You find yourself before a large metallic gate which stands on the border of the city of Gateport. On each side, there a towers, made up of whatever metal the residents of the city were able to find, guarded by Brotherhood of Steel Knights. If one isn't careful, one might also notice several turrets pointed right at them. One of the Knights asks you what your business is, whether entering or leaving the city, and once you answer, and he finds the answer satisfactory, the gate opens. From here, you can see the bridge which goes over the irradiated waters and connects the island that Gateport sits on with the mainland of the Texas Commonwealth.

As you pass two armed to the teeth Brotherhood Knights, entering through a metallic vault door, you find yourself in the Brotherhood of Steel Local Branch. The place is quite drab, to be expected from what is essentially a military barracks. Grey walls, little light other than a few light bulbs that occasionally malfunction, and a singular military-style desk. Not exactly the happiest place on earth. Civilians aren't allowed outback, but you can catch of glimpse of bunk beds and lockers which most likely hide weapons and ammo inside. Its rare to see the Brotherhood of Steel be so friendly with a settlement like this, but Gateport is kind of a special situation. Origi…

You enter the building which the bright blue sign outside said was the Seafarer's Headquarters. This is probably the nicest, most well-maintained building in the entirety of the city. The floor has minimal rubble, the blue and white painting on the walls is only moderately scraped off, and the roof is, for the most part, not falling apart. That is quite the accomplishment for a building that isn't a Vault or a bunker. Most of this building is simply a number of desks filled with computers, pens, papers, some surprisingly well-kept books, and some scavenged old world memorabilia. This is where are the regular workers of the Seafarers work, doing the day-to-day the org…

Before you stands the largest working steam ship you've ever seen. The only working steam ship you've ever seen. Its large, rusted metal pipe extends from the center of the boat, releasing vasts amounts of steam from the top, the sign of its working fuel source, something that is so strange to see here in the wasteland. The metal that makes up the ship itself, also quite rusted, is otherwise painted a dark blue color with a white stripe. You can see the beginnings of an S.S., but the rest of the name has deteriorated throughout the years and the steamboat is now simply known as The Ship. Each side of the ship, foreward and back, also has a mast with an auxiliary sail. Non…

As you step into the port, you catch yourself in the middle of the bustle and hustle of the large crowd, for the wasteland anyway, of the fisherman and traders of Gateport. Boxes, Crates, and make-shift carrying vessels that some trader was able to scrap together and put his stuff in are being carried to and fro, in and out of the few boats on dock. Most of the boats are small little fishing boats, owned by the few who are willing to put in the time and effort required to find the few non-radiated fish out in the Gulf of Mexico. The main event, however, is The Ship, the large steam ship that has put the city of Gateport on the map. That is where most of the stuff is going…
