Firstly; thank you for registering to EcchiDreams and welcome to our humble community. We want to help you get started right away and so we've cobbled together a starting pack that should point you in the right direction. EcchiDreams is made up of all kinds of people from all kinds of backgrounds. It is also more than just a roleplaying site, it's a community, which we encourage you to take part in. Please be aware, however, that the terms of service are enforced on this site. Please make sure you've read them.

We can all understand how EcchiDreams can be a little overwhelming at first, which is why I want to let you know that if you want any help, or have any questions on something you're stuck on, please don't hesitate in asking. The staff are extremely willing to help if you should need it (You can find us easily as we all have Purple names), although that said the community is full of epic dreamers who are more than happy to help out new people as well, which is part of what makes EcchiDreams as awesome as it is. 

Roleplaying Quick Start

If you're looking at starting to roleplay right away, then there are a few things you can do to improve your chances of finding someone to roleplay with, and whilst I'm sure you'll be fine, I've got a quick start guide for you.

• Complete your profile.
• Fill out a Roleplayer Preferences form; to let others know what your preferences are.
  • If you're into private roleplaying (Not publicly on the forums, but on EcchiChat (The chat bar) or by EcchiTexts, then consider letting people know. You can also use that link to find roleplayers that you might want to roleplay with.
  • If you're comfortable with public roleplaying, we have many roleplays created by the fellow Dreamers that you can access.
  • Remember; if you post around on the forums, say play in forum games and what have you, consider putting a link to your preferences in your signature for maximum exposure. 
• If you're stuck for what the roleplay options are, and/or how to get started take a look at our Roleplaying Guides.
• If you need advice on starting your roleplay, or you're looking for feedback on your current roleplay, or want to talk about public roleplaying in general, then this is the spot for you. 

Community Forums

We have several forums on the community for you to discuss a variety of topics, here is a good selection from our General forums area:

• Our General Interests Lounge has areas for a variety of topics; if something interests you and doesn’t fit into any of the other forums then this is a good place to post it.
  • Anime, Hentai and Manga. As you can imagine this is for all that and stuff like drawn comics. Either to discuss or to share with the community.
  • The Creative Corner is for creative people to share their work with the community. This section is for posting your drawings and sketches, things you've done in photoshop or written fanfictions, sex stories or erotica’s, and whatnot.
  • Our Forum Games area is… Well, it’s our ‘post to play’ Forum Games. Stuff as simple as “Count to 1,000,000” or as complicated as finding a certain picture.
  • Gadgets and Geeks is a good place to talk about what tech things you have or want, or maybe something sciency you want to share with the community.
  • Personal Stories is an area where you can share stories of your day or even your life with the community. Think of it as a blog… But on a forum.
  • Random Chit Chat, if you just want to start a random topic or conversation; try here.
  • Sex and Relationships are for anything like openly talking about fetishes either in real life or fantasy or for discussing and getting advice on relationship issues.
  • Video Games - Do you want to discuss the latest computer or console game to come out? Discuss or get help with your favourite game? Post here and git gud.

Hot Tips

• Join our Discord Server! 
• If you think you're going to be away for a short period, consider letting people know via Leave of Absence as opposed to leaving a status as these can be buried under all the likes and things that I'm sure you'll be getting, whereas a Leave of Absence features prominently on your profile. 
• The club section has more than just roleplay clubs in it. They also have fan clubs, community-specific clubs and all sorts in there. 
• EcchiCredits is a contribution-based currency only applicable here on EcchiDreams, and cannot be bought, sold or otherwise traded for real cash/tangible items. You earn them by contributing to EcchiDreams, such as making posts, threads and content that people react to, take part in, and such. Reporting bugs. And so on. They can then be traded for things on this site or used to buy things from the EcchiStore. You can also get premium membership which only accepts EcchiCredits, as we don't accept real money.

Staying out of Trouble

We don't want to give out warnings, and one would hope that you don't want to get into trouble. Yet we repeatedly see the same rules being broken, and the number one excuse is: "I didn't know it was against the rules." Despite being indicated in the Terms of Service. This tells me that people don't read them and I get it. It's boring. I know. But I highly recommend reading them to stay out of trouble. Needless to say here are three commonly broken rules so that you can avoid breaking them. You can see the specific sections by clicking on the "Reveal hidden content" boxes.

We are quite lenient as to what you can post, for example, we try to stick to a non-censorious approach (See Section 15) but... As @Aura would say:

"What goes around comes around, so try to be friendly, patient and understanding. While some things may not be against the rules, you're still dealing with other people here. If you're acting rude, you're probably not going to get whatever it is you're looking for."

Section 9 of the Terms of Service (Duplicate Accounting)

There is a lot of potential abuse (That we have seen carried out in the past) that can be prevented by having a strict one account per person limit. Before my administration, we saw one person running several accounts which were used to swing poll votes to their favour, we also saw nasty harassment campaigns and people scamming/catfishing the more vulnerable Dreamers on the site. The previous administrator made this a rule that carried an instant ban to both accounts, without warning. I am a little bit fairer than that. I give people who, when caught, the fair chance to throw their hands up, admit fault, and receive a lesser punishment. But the secondary account always gets banned. 

Even staff are beholden to this rule, with exception to diagnostic/test/illustrative accounts in which case the staff will clearly label this in the About Me section of the profile within 10 minutes of creating the account, and it will always be deleted (as with all of its posts, content and so on) after its use has expired.

EcchiDreams does not allow the registration of more than one account per person, even if you have chosen to terminate your original account. If a Dreamer is found to have more than one account, all accounts including the original/main account may be suspended immediately, with or without warning, at the discretion of the Senior Staff. If a Dreamer is found to have more than two accounts, all accounts will be banned, and we reserve the right to ban without further warning (aside from this section of the Terms of Service). All banned Dreamer’s will have the chance to appeal via the contact us form. We have systems in place that are specially designed to automatically detect multiple accounts; therefore if you share a computer with another EcchiDreams member, it is important to contact us before we contact you about this.

Section 14 of the Terms of Service (Advertising, Spam and Disallowed Links)

You are not allowed to insert content such as posts, statuses, signatures and so on that advertise a commercial service or product. You're also not allowed to put up your email address, messenger invites, Skype addresses, Discord addresses and the like for private, commercial or personal services. Text and/or images that contain links and URL's to other sites are allowed providing that the link is in context to the conversation.

Any content posted to EcchiDreams that clearly advertise a commercial service, product, or personal donations is not allowed on the forums. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Unsolicited commercial communications or personal website advertisements.
• Goods or services for sale, trade, or auction advertisements.
• Classified or wanted notices.
• Any make money fast schemes, chain letters, pyramid schemes.
• Email addresses and messenger invites (Skype, Discord, and the like - just because it isn't mentioned here doesn't mean it isn't included), for private, commercial or personal services.
• Personal donations such as GoFundMe, Ko-fi, or Cryptocurrency addresses.

These are not allowed anywhere on this site. This rule does not apply in the Roleplay sections, providing the service advertised is in the roleplay, i.e. not real life. 

Text and/or images that contain links and URLs to other sites are allowed, providing that the link is in context to the conversation. (e.g. Wikipedia articles, YouTube Videos, and so on) and isn't being plugged/posted in a disruptive, 'spammy' or 'advertising' way.

The rule of thumb here is: if it asks for money and the context is that our Dreamers should buy it, give to it, or donate to it, it is not allowed.

Disallowed Links

In addition to Section 14; you are not allowed to post links that:

• Breaks our Terms of Service in any of its sections.
• Point to a site that's primary use is pharmaceuticals, sexual "aid" sites (such as Viagra), camsites, paysites.
• Sites that directly compete against EcchiDreams in the context of trying to relocate Dreamers to that competitor's website or to do the roleplaying solely in that location.
• Goes to a phishing site or any site with the primary purpose of containing malicious downloads, viruses, trojans or other similar suspicious activity. Be wary that sometimes websites may contain elements such as malicious ads and pop-ups, even if the site itself has no ill intent and seems perfectly safe. 

Section 18 of the Terms of Service

Perhaps the most broken rule on this site, because there is this common misconception that NSFW Lolicon/Shotacon content (Images that depicts or appears to depict a cartoon/drawn/sketch/pseudo-photograph of a minor (under 18) in sexual situations or nude" is legal. This isn't true, and it is in fact, illegal. We've discussed this before, and we've even posted up a handy flowchart to help you.

EcchiDreams provides for the internal image hosting and publishing of Dreamer-submitted content via the Image Gallery for contributing members. Access to the Gallery is not a right, it is a privilege for the enjoyment of contributing members. We are a Roleplaying and Hentai community, not an image hosting site. We do not allow hotlinking from our site at this time.

Section 18 of the Terms of Services applies to Gallery Modules in the Clubs and across EcchiDreams as a whole, as stated in Section 1. Unless otherwise specified: This also applies to statues, avatars, profile covers, About Me pages, profile backgrounds and so on, hosted here on EcchiDreams or linked externally from another site be that images, videos or any other form of media.

The actual gallery (https://ecchidreams.com/gallery) must only contain character reference pictures or roleplay related media, and must not contain image dumps. Images posted to the gallery must not be animated GIF images, either. Any violations of this will result in that content being deleted with no notice.

Regarding your content submissions, you agree that you will NOT submit any media content or post anywhere on the site that:

• Depicts (or appears to depict) a cartoon/drawn/sketch/pseudo-photograph of a minor (under 18, fictional characters or not), in sexual situations or nude, as this counts as Child Pornography (by Law). 
• Depicts (or appears to depict) a real life minor, in any way, shape, or form (pornographic or not) even if that person is a public figure. A roleplay character is not a valid exception.
• Depicts (or appears to depict) real people, regardless of age, in a sexual situation or nude, regardless of whether the picture is of yourself.
• Depicts (or appears to depict) a person who is deceased (dead), and in a sexual situation or nude, cartoon, real, or otherwise.
• Depicts (or appears to depict) excessively violent acts, sexual or otherwise against real life people or animals. Cartoon violence is accepted as long as it doesn't violate any of the other points, such as excessive gore.
• Depicts (or appears to depict) a person having sex with an animal (bestiality), cartoon, real, or otherwise.
  • This is not including furrys, anthromorphs (anthro), or monsters, unless the furry/anthro/monster is depicted or appearing to be depicted having sex with an animal.
• Infringes any trademark, copyright, or any other proprietary rights of any party, especially if it's stated in the posted image. Example: if work has "DO NOT REDISTRIBUTE" on it, it's not allowed. Unless it's yours, of course. If it is yours. please state in the description of the picture that you, the copyright holder, authorise EcchiDreams to host this image as yours, and make use of the copyright field.
• Any kind of QRCode, Datamatrix, Barcode, or other such thing, that contains anything that violates any Section of the Terms of Service.
• Are illegal or in violation of any United Kingdom, United States, or other local laws.

Definitions:

• Nudity: Not wearing clothing, or sensitive areas (female nipples and/or male or female genitalia) being visible through or around any clothing being worn. 
• Sexual Situation: A character is considered as being in a "sexual situation" if they are clearly having sexual intercourse or are exposed to it in some way either directly or indirectly, or that there is some kind of sexual activity being performed.
• A Minor: Someone who is under 18 years of age (i.e.; is not an adult).
  • Please keep in mind that a 1000 year-old woman who looks like a child still appears to depict a minor and a character who is canonically underage but is "aged up" in the image is still treated as a minor, neither of which are permissible under the Terms of Service.
  • This would mean that you also can’t use a picture that is of a sexual nature, or has any nudity in it for a character who is under the age of 18, as per your character profile.
