Danny Chase Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 Alcohol and Marijuana use warning. The Summiths were a patchwork family. Only two pairs were blood related out of the five. When he was five years old, Tanner's mom married eight year old Y/N's dad, making them brother and sister in law. Y/N's dad's half brother passed away very recently after her birth, leaving six year old Caleb an orphan due to the mother having died the year before. He was adopted, so he and Y/N became siblings as well. Three siblings, unrelated by blood but familial nonetheless. Fourteen years passed. They got along well growing up. Every time their sister was sad, the two boys would agree to drive her off into her most comforting setting and buy her favorite dinner along the way. Anytime one of the brothers went through a difficult breakup, his siblings would cherr him up any way they could. Nobody left each other alone. A few petty squabbles here and there ironically helped to strengthen their bond. They developed around each so closely and fondly that they were almpst inseperable. Hardly any secrets were kept from each other. Almost hardly. Their dynamic shifted slightly during their highschool years when Y/N found a magazine beneath Tanner's bed while helping him clean his room out for the big move. He quickly tried to snatch it from her but she kept it in her grip, telling him his secret is safe with her on one condition; that he let her borrow it for herself. The deal was made, but her promise wasn't kept. She was caught reading it when Caleb walked in on her asking about his missing biking gloves. Ever since then the three have left it in hindsite as an inside joke, but something very serious stirred their own curiosity of one another. The big move kept their minds occupied, safely away from the awkwardness of the incident. College also made things easy , giving each of them a distraction from each other unless one needed help on a project. Tanner and Caleb worked out with each other very often, learning from dad that a healthy body helped a heathy mind. By the time they nearly graduated, they were built more like professional polo swimmers than book learned students with good grades. Yet, they were both. Summer came quickly. Taking a break from school, and convincing his family to join him, Tanner took his brother and stepsister out of town to a lakeside cabin as a getaway from all the busy hustle of the city. He also wanted to use it as an excuse to focus on tutoring Y/N about particular historical architecture, though wether or not she really needed the help was up for debate. She would most likely be teaching him new things. The trio were in their cabin now, drying off in front of an open lit fireplace and laughing about the day's mischief. Earlier in the day while helping his sister off the kayak, Tanner lifted her up out of the boat and then dropped her into the lake with a sarcastic "oops". It was just near the shore so that her feet would hit the ground, but it was enough to get her clothes all soaked in lakewater. He laughed with Caleb and the two helped her on her feet, each boy at each side or her lifting her up like a child. It was all in good fun, but now they were all wet. Caleb tried not to notice the girls drenched bra showing through her shirt, but he did anyway. His face had turned red. Tanner had taken notice as well. All in front of the fire now, surrounded by half a dozen empty beer cans, the last rays of sunlight finally dipping beneath the horizon, Tanner and Caleb removed their shirts and twisted them over a sink before resting the clothes in front of the fire before sitting on each side of their sister. Caleb spoke up, putting a strong arm around her shoulders while holding a can of beer to her.** "How about a beer, sis? Haven't seen you with one yet. Come oooonnn, it'll keep the cold away!" The party went on with quiet laughter, the three sharing one nostalgic story after another. They reminisce on their time spent with each other and the mood took a morose turn at rhe realization that they may not see each other again soon. College was coming to an end, and the brothers had plans to move out of state to pursue their dreams. Tanner tried to lighten the mood with a joke. "Hey sis. If we werent, you know, if our mom and dad hadn't gotten married do you think we wouldve been a good... you know." He clicked his tongue and winked at her meaninfully, giving her shoulder a gentle tug to pull her closer against his firm chest. "I think we would've made a good couple~" "Hey yeah," Caleb spoke up, "Which of us do you think is more huggable, sis?" "I was actually thinking kissable, myself." Said Tanner with a leery grin. TLDR; Y/N is surrounded by her two stepbrothers, both of which have become very protective and curious of her. Alcohol and Marijuana use warning.
