  1. "Secrets in the woods," she mused to herself. "Something someone doesn't want you to know about. How very interesting." She walked further away then called out to him, "I bet you're just dying to get out there and find out what it is that was scratched off of your map." She glanced back over her shoulder when he asked what she was looking for and quirked one eyebrow. How dare he question her? "You are the curious one, aren't you? And quite fearless." Turning she strode back to where he stood. In her heels she was only and inch taller than him, so they were basically eye to eye, but she used her vampiric presence to appear to loom over him briefly, threateningly, her shadow expanding to cover the wall and ceiling. "Careful, little thrall. Your Master only provides you so much protection from the consequences of your curiosity." She stepped back and was just Elena again, a woman in a long black dress, standing before a young man, her shadow normal. A smile flickered across her lips but did not touch her eyes. He was an interesting one. No fear in the face of an ancient vampire. If she didn't know better, she'd have guessed him for a slayer. What interesting company you keep, Miana, she thought to herself. She looked him up and down. He was not afraid of her, which meant he was either stupid or had faced and slain vampires before. "You've killed vampires, haven't you, boy?"
  2. Lupita stepped in right as Daliah tossed a book and growled. Perfect timing.
  3. Lupita heard the end of a conversation through the back door of the library on her way in. A male voice was saying, "...reconnecting myself to the pack. I'm... Sorry." She stopped just outside the door, but then heard feet retreating out the main entrance. She was certain she wasn't meant to overhear even that much, but she let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding and slipped silently into the library. Once inside, her eyes were instantly drawn to the tall, slender, gorgeous woman standing in front of the fireplace with a book in her head. Lupita opened her mouth to speak, but the woman let out a growl and slammed the book onto the floor, then seemed to stand there... laughing? crying? Shit, thought Lupita. She thought this was Daliah, the beta of the pack, and and now she had obviously intruded on a private moment. But if there was one thing she knew with werewolves it was that there was never any sneaking silently away from the older wolves. Their senses went beyond the mere physical. Daliah would know she was in the room as soon as Lupita moved. "Bad ending?" she said in an attempt to break the silence with humor. "I know I've wanted to toss a few books when they didn't turn out the way I wanted." She stood just inside the door, uncertain if she should even be here. Her black tank top and biker shorts were form fitting and left none of her curves to the imagination as she offered a hopefully reassuring smile and moved toward the plush couch. "I'd offer a recommendation, but I'm afraid my reading is mostly academic these days. No one wants to read Wolves: Behavior, Ecology, and Conservation, even the other students." She stood in front of the couch, her messenger bag over one shoulder. "I'm Lupita, by the way. I don't know if you remember me. We met very briefly when I arrived, but you were busy." She looked up at the taller woman, the second in command of the entire pack. "I'm sorry, should I go?"
  4. She can go wherever there's someone for her to interact with. Daliah doesn't need to stay there if you have other plans.
  5. "Don't you know it's not polite to ask a woman her age," she said without expression. She seemed more bored than anything else, but had taken an interest in the book he was reading. "And don't panic. I don't eat off someone else's plate." She leaned close, trying to see the title of the book he was reading. "Studying the lay of the land, I see. Find anything interesting?" She moved away, turning her back to him, letting him know that she didn't consider him a threat. Her slow and stately pace seemed incongruous when compared to the graceful and flirtatious sway of her hips.
  6. I mean, Lupita is pretty much here to be bossed around by the wolves that are bigger and badder than her, so... she's your plaything
  7. Elena stopped pacing the moment the human entered the library. She quirked one eyebrow as she smelled him. Simply human. Was dinner being served? Mmm, maybe he'd run and she could pretend to enjoy a hunt. Sometimes it took her back to her youth, the thrill of chasing, stalking, then pouncing on a human, the feel of her teeth in flesh, the taste of blood in her mouth, watching the light fade from their eyes... She moved up behind the human where he sat and leaned in, but then sensed it. He was a thrall. Damn. She was hungry, but she wouldn't stoop to offending her hosts by devouring their thralls. Instead, she feigned interest in his literary find. "Pray tell, what have you found that so interests your young mind?"
  8. @Venari99 Darion got inadvertently "spied on" by a wolf biologist who's running off to the library no reply necessary, just an FYI so he can recognize her scent later.
  9. <from rec room> Lupita stopped before turning the corner and listened. She heard introductions, not certain if she recognized any of the voices. Ah, that was Rava talking about vampires, and maybe Zaria introducing herself to someone new. A male voice. He'd fought vampires? Lupita turned back around. What the hell was she even doing here? How safe was it to hide with other werewolves when their kind were being hunted? Was there really safety in numbers, or did it just make her easier to find? She turned and backtracked down the hall. There was another way to get to the library, she was certain she'd found it last night. She did her best to be quiet and not attract attention, but... half of them could probably identify her by smell. She still wasn't good at that in her human form. <continued in library>
  10. Lupita shut down her laptop. She needed to save the battery, and there was no use in reliving the past. Tabor was dead. She needed to focus on the present and plan for the future. She shoved the laptop back into her messenger bag next to the sketchbook and pulled out her pen and the small journal. It made her feel good to hold them, even if she wasn't planning on writing anything just yet. They were there, ready in case something needed to be written down. She looked around the rec room. It was a nice place, but the library was more her speed. Maybe she'd find something interesting to read. Maybe even something to help her understand the curse under which she now lived. She headed out into the hall and toward the library. <continued in library>
