  4. Considering that she hadn't laughed him out of the room or indicated that he had embarrassed himself, David wondered if he had actually done an okay job with what was going on in front of him. Frankly, it was a surprise to him that he was still in the room and still talking. Now, since things were not going badly, he could at least try to think that this might go somewhere. When Silvina asked him about his education and work experience, David was partly relieved. At least this time, this was a question that he could answer straight. Even though he thought his resume was not exactly 'gold class' material, it was at least honest and functional. "Well, I passed high school and did a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Queensland. I have also starting distance education on a diploma of IT." David said honestly, though he wondered if he left that off his resume. He was pretty sure he had put it in there. Oh well, didn't matter that much. Now came the hard part of discussing his work experience. Well, given that he was studying all this time, he hadn't had much of an opportunity to get a lot of work experience done. At least he had some basic work experience with entry level retail such as working in supermarkets and small stores. "As for work experience, I've got some retail work experience with one of the major supermarket chains back in Australia and a few small speciality retailers back home."

  9. After the testing it was all done, David wondered what was going to happen next. Since he hadn't been to many interviews, he didn't really know what was going to happen next. When Silvina told David to drink some water to cleanse his taste buds, he reached over for the water with one of his greasy hands and drank. As he drank, he wondered if Silvina was telling the truth or just flattering him. He saw no reason why she'd be lying to him but it just sounded so unbelievable...that he was actually good at something. Certainly, he didn't think he had much to offer to this place but if the boss thought he had something, then he might just have it. Then came the 'dreaded interview questions. Now, David was starting to get a bit nervous. He hated open-ended questions like these as he had no idea what exactly the person asking them was after. If only they could ask something a bit more specific, he wouldn't be so nervous. It didn't help that Silvina did ask him to tell her about himself. Why did she have to ask that? It's not like he was THAT interesting! He froze, not sure of what to tell her. What really could he tell her about himself that would be interesting?! He couldn't easily think of something to say, not much seemed to stand out to him. "Umm...I...Well..." David stammered as he tried to figure out what to tell her about himself. "Well, I only came to this country fairly recently, about 6 months ago from Australia. I was born in Australia and have lived there most of my life with my parents. I currently live with one of my uncles, who happens to be some sort of tech guy for the Police Department. Umm...what else..?" At this point, David was remembered that she asked another question along side of this. She had asked why he applied for this job! Oh crap, now this was going to be painful! "Well...to be honest...one of my friends...talked me into trying for this job. They had heard rumours of rather...unusual things going on here." David said honestly but with dejection in his voice. He was dejected because that was not exactly you should say to your boss.

  12. From the album: Manni Characters

Character Identity Information Name: Alleyne Lancaster Age: She is the equivalent of 26 in Human Years Gender: Female Religion: None Species: High Elf Origin/Nationality: American Occupation: Police Officer Physical Appearance Height: 170cm Weight: 58kgs Eye Colour: Blue Hair Colour: Blonde Physical Description: A elven girl that's reasonably tall, light and for some odd reason has significantly toned muscles. Though her arms and legs don't look like they are strong, one must not underestimate her. Must have been practicing sword play, this one. As an elf, she is quite agile and fast on her feet. Personality, Traits and Abilities General Overview: An interesting person, she is. She can be seemingly quiet and serene one moment before becoming a merciless whirlwind the next. Much like water, the situation and the environment around her determines what she decides to do. A rather flexible person who can adapt to situations that others can't handle. However, this flexibility comes at a price. Given her high stress and high risk job, she finds it hard to wind down and relax. She is usually on guard and ready to strike at a moment's notice. Letting others get close to her is not an easy option to her. Strengths, Skills and Abilities: Temporal Awareness: The ability to be aware or sense instinctively the manipulation of time. Active as long as she conscious and alive, she can only instinctively sense that time is off, not the extent or cause. Stop/Slow Resistance - A rather strange ability she has is innate resistance to temporal manipulation from multiple sources, that protects her in some ways from being slowed down or stopped via time magic or time dilation technology. Healing Magic: Originally, this elf wanted to be a travelling doctor of sorts and help others. However, that was before a certain event in her life happened. It was this same event that gave her the dislike of technology and her fear of elemental magic. Since she could not use elemental magic, she learnt healing and support magic instead. Quite useful to learn as she gets injured a lot in her line of work. Weaknesses: Incredibly stubborn and sometimes single-minded about things Hides incredible animosity/fear towards Ice Magic and her old City. When angered, she is not easy to calm down. Nervous when it comes to elemental magic. Ambitions (Hopes/Dreams): To clean up crime. Finding the person that killed her parents. Getting a good night's sleep for once Hobbies and Interests: Catching Criminals Relaxing Reading Driving FAMILY Father: Leonard Lancaster (Deceased) Mother: Alicia Lancaster (Deceased) Sibling: Flectcher Lancaster - Younger Brother (Deceased) House: Currently lives in with David Liu's eccentric uncle, who works for the Blackberry Police Department in the Research and Development Division. Car: One Silver Lexus LS 460H (Sports Luxury Model Config). History Criminal Record: -A few internal complaints regarding treatment of suspects, she tends to be a bit rough. Awards/Commendations: A few commendations given by the police for acts of bravery, more than just saving cats out of trees. Quite a few of them were for handling armed robbers or helping subjugate violent offenders. A few community service awards given by the government of the city for services dedicated to helping the community. Bio: While Alleyne does not like talking about her past very much and is loathe to share it with strangers, it would be possible to learn what happened to her if one got close enough. What is known is that her parents migrated to a city close to Blackberry from a far away land, one where opportunity for elves were limited. While the land her parents came from was peaceful and beautiful, it did not have the economic and social opportunities that her parents wanted. What they wanted was for themselves to have wider and more comfortable options in life, to be able to pursue whatever dream they had. When they first moved to that city, there were not many elves of their kind living there. They kind of stood out oddly and attracted both positive and negative forms of attention. While they did not start with that much, her parents worked hard and managed to get to make a comfortable living for themselves. It took them at least 15 years of work from when they arrived but they were at a place they were happy to start a family at. A year past and Alleyne was born to two very happy parents. Life was simple and relatively care free then, with her parents comfortably set up in their new home. Yes, back then...in the days where the city was relatively peaceful and the environment better. However, Alleyne's birth was just before the big growth spurt that the city was going to experience. With it came good and bad, more opportunities to win and lose. With the good came more choice and diversity, more industry and opportunity. Yet...with the bad, came the pollution, crime, larger losses and struggles. Such was the nature of things, where both costs and benefits come and go. Alleyne, as she grew up, began to see such things affect the city and those around her. While she saw what was good in the city while in her childhood and adolescence, she would get a rude awakening to what was bad. On the day of her 19th birthday, she came home to find her entire family flash frozen, encased in ice. She ran over to them to try to free them but...their dead, frozen bodies broke in her hands. The building darkness of the city had now shown its face. At the time, the police tried in vain to solve this case...and the other linked cases. It was proposed that all these disparate and seemingly random killings had two things in common, they were all killed the same way and frozen flowers were left before all victims. However, the case soon turned cold as there were no leads. These came to be known as the Winter murders, after the way the victims were frozen. She changed that day... Swearing vengeance on the killer of her family, she trained hard daily...her heart hardened and sealed itself away. However, nothing would prepare her for her seeming destiny. On her 21st Birthday, she encountered something out of this world. It would have almost been her last, had it not been for the intervention of another. The Masked Man in Red, who was called Drive. The Man asked nothing of the woman whom he saved, leaving her be after making sure she was somewhere safe. Alleyne often wonders where they came from and what they wanted. She tried tracking the Red one but to no avail. Events would soon lead her to Blackberry City, where she hoped to escape her haunting memories. She is currently a guest of someone who happens to be some sort of inventor, though of what she does not know. She doesn't really care much about that, given that she does not understand all that high technology.
  13. From the album: Manni Characters

Name: David Liu Age: 23 Gender: Male Species: Human Origin/Nationality: Half Chinese and Half Japanese. Occupation: University Student Physical Appearance Height: 170cm Weight: 60kg Eye Colour: Blue Hair Colour: Black Physical Description: A short and skinny human with not much muscle on them so don't expect them to be lifting the heavy stuff. Despite being skinny, they can eat quite a lot and seemingly not put on weight. Cuts their hair reasonably short and wavy like, the kind you see on protagonists in your TYPICAL JAPANESE ANIME. LOL. Personality, Traits and Abilities Personality: David is a strange one, to be honest and capable of self destructive behavior. While they don't see themselves as particularly nice, other people say that they are too kind and generous for their own good. David is seemingly obsessed with their own perceived inadequacy and lack of desirability. They haven't had many opportunities to deal with females and have had few friends. Considers themselves unlikable as he essentially feels that he has to 'bribe' people to like him and interact with him at all. Can be rather judgmental, naive and critical of others though largely of himself. Strengths, Skills and Abilities: Watches too damn many superhero shows so he knows all the tropes and such. Only handy if your life turns into one giant superhero show... Crazy about sound - Very picky when it comes to what they listen to and how they do it. Okay with computers and electronics. Can be good using money, if they actually have a goal. Weaknesses: David says he has too many to count...though they may not be the best judge of that. Not very confident in themselves, so much so that they seem rather needy. Not very good around attractive females Ambitions (Hopes/Dreams): To find someone. To FINALLY feel comfortable with themselves. Hobbies and Interests: Video Games Audio Products Music Kamen Rider/Tokusatsu Watching Anime Personal Sexual Information Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual Penis Length: 11cm in length when flaccid. 13.5cm when erect. Turn ons: Elves, surprisingly enough. Large breasts are also a turn-on. Someone who is actually interested in him! Turn Offs: Abusive and Mean People Extra Information Family: Lives with their eccentric uncle, who happens to be part of the Research and Development team for the Blackberry Police Department. If you ask this character, they'd say their uncle is more of the mad scientist type. Doesn't share their uncle's love for all things automotive, though they do like their slot car collection and tracks they have in the hobby room. Their father and mother live in Australia named Bradley and Helen Liu respectively. House: Lives with his eccentric uncle in his estate. Car: Has not wanted to drive as of yet, so no car. History Awards/Commendations: None Criminal Record: None Bio: David is incredibly loath to tell people about his time before coming to Blackberry City because they say that 'it's not a very interesting story'. And...they'd be right. David hasn't had much activity happen in their lives, so in a sense their life is quite boring. David was a product of a marriage between a Chinese man and a Japanese woman who ran a successful business in another country. His life with them was relatively uneventful and quite a normal one compared to some people. Though they raised him well and loved him, he could not help but feel that he could never repay them for what they have provided him. Hell, he barely thought himself adequate to even deserve such parents. Where his self loathing came from, he doesn't know nor does anyone else. When it was time for people to pick their university preferences, David decided to take a year or two off instead and go to Blackberry City...in order to see the world a bit. His decision did not come as a shock to his parents, who were concerned at his lack of direction and drive...among other things.
  14. David sat down on the chair in front of the CEO's desk as he was told and then listened to what Silvina had to say. Yes, he knew that his friend had somehow convinced him to sign up to the 'Quality Control' position of this company. He had no idea what to expect though. She watched as the cute elven receptionist from earlier carry a tray covered in a white cloth into the room and then leave. From this, David figured that he was going to be doing some sort of taste test. As Silvina told him what he was going to do, David wondered what was under the cloth. He hoped it wasn't too weird. As he closed his eyes, he heard the cloth on the tray being removed. He then moved his hand to pick up the first bowl and brought it over close to his face so he could smell it. He could tell there was mayonnaise in there but wanted to know what else was in there. So he put the bowl back down in front of him and then with his other hand, took a bit of the contents of the bowl and put it in his mouth. He could definitely tell what was in it now. It was a simple cole slaw of shredded carrots, red onion and cabbage with some homemade whole egg mayonnaise. He could tell that the mayonnaise had egg, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, dijon mustard and canola oil. He could tell there was oil and vinegar and mustard in there as the dressing was thick and creamy, which meant it emulsification had to have taken place. After eating a bit of the contents of the first bowl, he then told Silvina what was in it. He then did the same thing with the second bowl, which he identified as grated horseradish with a bit of vinegar in it to stop it from oxidizing. The third bowl was button mushroom cooked with a compound butter that had garlic in it. He could tell the mushroom were properly cooked and the amount of butter used was not excessive as there was no oily feel to the mushrooms. The fourth bowl he identified as containing one of Blackberry Island's major exports, Blackberry Island Sauce. The fifth bowl he said there were cubes of oven baked sweet potato in there. With the last bowl, he said that there was Blackberry's own brand of garlic and herb cheese, which was similar to Boursin.
