Minorikawa Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Read through the background information, skimmed some of the character profiles since they're detailed. Can't catch up on the posts yet, but wanted to toss some character ideas out there and get feedback before making character sheets (though only two are formed enough, others I need to consider further). Note that I'm aiming to post, at most, once a day, though no guarantees I can manage that. My first idea is for a Vile named Beat Down, a villain that's been captured and imprisoned for anywhere between 5-10 years, whichever seems an appropriate time. While his body was already stronger than average, he has utilized drugs and technology to further enhance his physique beyond what should be natural human limitations. His brain is chemically imbalanced, feeling no emotions save the adrenaline of being in danger or the thrill of killing others. Despite this savage nature, he is quite intelligent, merely desperate to feel at all. He'd love nothing more than to feel the pulse-pounding fear of death, but unfortunately no Valor has been driven to or been capable of being a real threat, his body able to withstand an unreasonable amount of punishment. Nonetheless, a team of Valors working under GHARD managed to subdue him and place him in a chamber that has kept him in stasis. Note, he was still conscious, just unable to do anything on his own, including feeding himself or other matters. With the coming attack, members of GHARD have chosen to barter with him: they'll let him loose, but only so that he can face off against this coming threat. Surprisingly, he agreed. What this Vile could use: a handler with a leash capable of controlling him. Sample Dialogue: Spoiler "Beat Down, according to our records, you have slaughtered 278 civilians and 4 valors. How does it make you feel?" "I feel nothing." "Nothing? No regret? No remorse?" "Nor pride. I am neither happy nor sad for my actions." "Do you feel anything at all?" "Only when I see the fear in their eyes, the desperate desire to live, the shock and desperation as my fist penetrates their gut and they watch their own organs spill to the pavement. I feel excited, and I feel envious." "Envious?" "Yes. The only time I felt anything close to that fear was against Goliath, the nine-foot wonder. He was bigger, fierce, intimidating. For the first time I felt like I might die." "Yet you defeated Goliath." "Yes. That fear was short-lived. He was strong, but unintelligent. He was like me in that there were few that could cause him harm. Unlike me, he was conceited and misguided enough to believe none could cause him harm. I taught him otherwise when I crushed his spine." "Are you aware that Goliath is now retired?" "Yes. I want to see him again." "To kill him?" "I would never kill him. The fear in his eyes... it is one thing to see the fear of a civilian that has to live day to day knowing that some Vile could bring their entire life to an end. The fear of a man that thought himself a god? That... that is a rare prize." My second idea is for an unregistered Valor named Terrance Lornlock, alias Blitz Fist. The illegitimate son of a Valor, he returned home one day in high school to find his mom gone, eloped with one of her latest boyfriends. Already used to being independent, Terrance continued to live on his own without anyone aware his mother, already neglectful, had left him abandoned. If his mother's rantings at the television were to be believed, his father was some hot shot hero of GHARD, though he has no interest in finding out the truth. He has no interest in large institutions, their politics, or in being told what to do. As such, he puts all his efforts into his local community, working as the pool manager at a local community center where he hears news of bullying, gang recruitment, drug dealing, and more. He prefers to focus on helping the little guy that often gets overlooked as other heroes, especially the GHARD, seem to seek only the bigger, international headline defining threats to chase. Other ideas I have are this guy, possibly a non-powered human working under Black Line, and this guy, who is either going to be a Vile or something of an Anti-Hero. Thoughts? Feedback?
AsBloodTurnsEverCold Posted 4 hours ago Author Posted 4 hours ago @SirenSoul@Minorikawa@IsabellaRose Welcome to the club! I hope you find it to your liking! If you need any help just let me know and I'll be delighted to provide it! @Minorikawa Both of these ideas are really good. Beat Down in particular sounds like he'd be a terrifying threat, and his mental state would be curious to explore. The posting time is, I think, quite fine as well. I would say that his situation is more in line with R.E.D.I's philosophy in terms of keeping a dangerous asset around to use in times of emergency but they could and would coordinate with G.H.A.R.D for whatever reason that you could play around with. G.H.A.R.D does have its fair share of corruption though but there would need to be a clear reason they'd keep a Vile around even with a Handler. I don't know if potential reform is an angle you had in mind but its an option. As for Blitz Fist Fantastic hero name. Handsome fella. I like his hero-of-the-people lean which would definitely clash with the organizations on hand. For location if you need help, Arikara Falls is effectively Gotham though more Cyberpunk flavored. We could always use more Valors of course. Of course some non-powered rep would be appreciated as we don't have that yet especially as a rep for Black Line, I could give you more background for that if you need to really flesh it out. Zwei! Nice pic. We don't have much in the way of Viles (that I'm not planning to play at least) so that is an option but so far the Valors we have are fairly heroic and good so he'd be unique as more of an anti-hero. All nice ideas.
